Interesting polling by the Telegraph. I am not quibbling with their methods or the results but I do wonder why the newspaper would fork out to poll 28,000 people and why do it now?

Hoping to unsettle a few Tory MPs? Push them in to their preferred direction?

Martin Baxter, the chief executive of Electoral Calculus, added: “The Conservatives have been far behind in the polls for the last four months, with little sign of improvement."

Hhhmm correct me if I am wrong but haven't Labour had a steady polling lead for much longer than 4 months?

If so why are they specifically referencing 4 months? Oh yes because that's because that's when Sunak came in.

Interesting also that they mention that Reform win 6% of the poll and that their support stems from the Conservative voters - a suggestion to pick up a few more votes by leaning further right?

I suspect the Barclays/Telegraph are hoping to frighten the Conservatives in to welcoming Johnson back whilst they still have time.

Yeah

I picked up on that too

That is very interesting and a lot of what is said was pointed out on these threads.

Notonthestairs · 09/02/2023 17:30

That's a pretty comprehensive review.

Notonthestairs · 09/02/2023 18:26

Very interesting thread on polling by Chris Curtis.

(Note - Telegraph poll was conducted by Find Out Now. )

"Going to do a bit of a thread of this because I think it's a good opportunity to tie together some thoughts I've been having about current polling.

I say this as someone who knows about polling, not as a Labour candidate, but I also won't judge anyone sceptical of my bias. 🧵"

Thanks for that article Pointy.

Maybe Sunak needs 30p Lee for meetings with Raab

Have heard of an “unwritten rule” at Ministry of Justice to make sure officials accompanied by “robust” colleagues when in meetings with Raab. Sources previously told me of similar thing at fcdo. I understand Adam Tolley KC -investigating claims- has been told about this

Dorries has handed in her notice. Off to the Lords she goes - so we get to keep bankrolling her.

The great thing about having Dorres in public life is that she makes an average two year old seem rational and coherrent when they are mid tantrum

That interview is fabulous, it's such a fantastic example of Sanaks government encompassing is promise of integrity, professionalism and accountability at every level.

Wtf was all the sniffing, what's he got up his nose?

they're all coked up to the feckin' eyeballs!

Notonthestairs · 10/02/2023 07:39

Telegraph headline - "Raab high standards don't make you a bully. "

Does that mean all the other ministers have low standards?

DuncinToffee · 10/02/2023 08:41

And where were those high standards when he was sunbathing whilst Kabul fell?

Does having high standards include throwing tomatoes at staff when in a rage?

Yes, as long as the tomatoes land high up and not low down.

mibbelucieachwell · 10/02/2023 14:31

Hmmm. It depends on the tomatoes tbf. M and S on the vine piccolo toms fine.
Lidl salad toms not so much.
Let's be very clear though, tinned toms thrown while still in the tin are completely unacceptable even to Tory mps.

mibbelucieachwell · 10/02/2023 14:33

Maybe DomDom has a hoop for his toms and likes to impress his minions with a tomatoey slam dunk @jgw1 ?

What you say is very important. I had neglected to consider the quality of the tomatoes. Is it acceptable to throw a higher quality tomator at a lower height?

C'mon Dunc, he didn't go swimming because the sea was closed. Dominic Canute Raab. He was working on the beach. Course he was Hmm
