This is genuinely funny - Hancock discovering his affair had been found out.

Personally I've always thought it's pretty bad that there were cameras in government offices that ministers didn't know were there. Seems like a major security breach

Sorry - that must be fake messages (maybe?)

IClaudine · 03/03/2023 22:02

Wow. What an absolute idiot. No mention of what it might do to his wife and kids. Odious little twerp.

"Personally I've always thought it's pretty bad that there were cameras in government offices that ministers didn't know were there. Seems like a major security breach"

Yes I agree although previously I assumed (erroneously it seems) that the cameras were there for personal protection - and they'd be informed.

I do wonder if it's a bit like being on a plane when you are told where the exits are and you've already tuned out and concentrating on food/movies - but that says more about me than ministers.

IClaudine · 03/03/2023 22:12

Is it fake or not? The fact that it is hard to tell speaks volumes!

Can the Tories really keep going until (potentially) Jan 2025?

newnamethanks · 03/03/2023 22:16

Boz and his minions, hi Nadine, need to watch what they say about Sue Gray. She has a very good lawyer.

Notonthestairs · 03/03/2023 22:30

"Is it fake or not? The fact that it is hard to tell speaks volumes!"

Quite!
I now think they are genuine.
I'm sure his concerns about his wife and family were edited out. Or not.
With the Telegraph/Fraser Nelson/Isabel Oakeshott controlling the flow of information - who knows.

DuncinToffee · 03/03/2023 22:31

They are discussing it on the Last Leg. Onto the kssing photo now Shock

I don’t think he gave his wife and kids a second thought. His brain was firmly installed in his trousers, surfacing only to worry about his reputation.

L1ttledrummergirl · 03/03/2023 22:59

I know I've said it before, but everytime we think they've reached the bottom they find a way of scraping it deeper.

Is anyone analysing the Windsor agreement still and how it will effect the rest of the UK? E.g. Will the Irish whisky distilleries be able to undercut the Scottish ones by selling the product cheaper as they have access to both markets?

I'm wondering wtf they are trying to hide right now. What legislation are they trying to get through parliament at the moment?

That last bit made me laugh out loud @Notonthestairs

They can’t even do Sleaze properly nowadays <eyeroll>

Blossomtoes · 03/03/2023 23:45

Sorry @tobee.

Roussette · 04/03/2023 07:39

I have archived the DT article about Handcock and his sleazy snog. Be warned, it made me very annoyed.
archive.ph/ymowC

The desperation to hang on to his job was nauseating. The little thought he gave to his wife and children was quite disgusting. The fact he really wanted to say he was 'in love' in his resignation speech and had to be talked out of it.

For instance...
When he decided to resign, he turned to his mentor George Osborne for help with his statement, and was warned that he should probably remove his declaration of love for Ms Coladangelo and add an apology to his family

I find it hilarious they all set up a WhatsApp group called 'Crisis Management' to include Gina whatshername. I am just gobsmacked how much they use Whatsapp. My DD has just set up one for us, our children and their partners for a family break we're having. I wouldn't care a fig if someone got hold of it, we're just discussing days out, walking tours etc. But really.... these Ministers talk about all this sort of stuff on Whatsapp?

The amount of business and delicate government matters discussed over WA is appalling. I don't imagine Hancock and Oakeshott will be sharing a drink or meal together in the future. Apparently she broke an NDA, I wonder how that works...

"This series is going to go on longer than Lost" 🤣

TokyoSushi · 04/03/2023 08:07

God, I bloody love the WhatsApp's, they are amazing! I absolutely cannot abide IO, but she's done us a good turn here. (Apart from the fact that these texts yet again reconfirm what a shitshow and shambles the whole thing was)

I honestly believe they're surprised and didn't think at the time that they were doing anything wrong. A bit like telling the kids they can't have any more chocolate then sneaking off to the kitchen to eat some. I think they genuinely thought that the rules didn't apply to them.

What a load of absolute arses, the further unravelling is delicious.

I don't think that's it. Would be better for the Tories if the Windsor agreement were the focus, since they stood to get a bit of a polling bump from it, and anything that gets the population rehashing anything to do with lockdown rule breaks or Partygate is very bad for them. Although that was going to be happening soon enough anyway with Johnson in front of the privileges committee.

Notonthestairs · 04/03/2023 08:35

Thanks for that article Rousette.

What strikes me is the sheer amount of time wasted by Government officials and ministers on saving their own skins.

Scores of advisers roped in to scrape MH's reputation off a very dirty floor.

Imagine how much more time was wasted on Johnson obfuscating his multiple disasters rather than just doing the job properly.

We are paying for all that!

I can't believe - or rather I can - that Hancock had to be told not to declare his love whilst he was still married and so was she! Pathetic little man.

BashirWithTheGoodBeard · 03/03/2023 17:00

Ignorance of the law is no excuse. Particularly not when you're the person who fucking made it.

I knew what the rules were and I don't even live in the UK. He knew, he just didn't care.

IClaudine · 04/03/2023 08:57

Thanks for posting that Rousette. Stomach churning stuff. Did they do any actual work during this time?

I feel really sorry for Hancock's wife. It can't be easy for her to read how he was completely unconcerned for her and their kids. He only cared about saving himself.

IClaudine · 04/03/2023 08:59

Also, the earlier exchanges about Eat Out to Help Out are nasty.Yeah, it is hilarious that the scheme spread the virus. Hilarious that people died.

Yes. I hope she's taken him for every penny possible. He treated her with complete disdain. And when the snog and grope on the front pages broke... he'd only been shagging with her for a few weeks!

They actually took footage with him saying he was in love. Then told it wasn't a good idea so he whatsapped "reshot without love"

He is beyond contempt. His poor wife. I hope she is having a good life without that sleaze in her life. Poor kids.

Roussette · 04/03/2023 09:24

The Sue Grey meltdown is so funny.

Nads is at it...

2022: "Sue Gray is independent, is known to be independent."
2023: "There is huge doubt over Sue Gray and what she did when she was writing that report."
