I would say the same about the constituency I live in, but predictions suggest Labour could possibly will win.

Same here.

I'm waiting see if Braverman or Drummond get the new boundaries area.

I'd prefer Drummond yet I'd love Braverman to get it and lose by a huge majority.

I'm such a vow 🤣

itsgettingweird · 01/03/2023 18:30

Ahhhh fuck.

Electoral calculus for new boundaries says

CON 35.5%

LAB 35.4%

LIB 13%

REFORM 7.4%

GREEN 6.5%

L1ttledrummergirl · 01/03/2023 19:00

Well thats interesting. Db is 36 5% tory compared to 34.1% Labour. I'll have to let him know because I'm pretty sure he'll start knocking on doors.

It will come down in this instance to perhaps how effective the local campaign in, how much the particular Tory MP is disliked which may persuade those who would rather Lib Dem or Green to vote Labour so that anyone but the Tory wins.

L1ttledrummergirl · 01/03/2023 20:19

@itsgettingweird I like those odds, that's definitely close enough to turn over.

Notonthestairs · 01/03/2023 22:45

I'm betting anyone who WhatsApped Hancock over the last few years will be fretting.

Williamson certainly comes out shining...

"What Gavin Williamson said about teachers in public, vs what he said about them in private."

L1ttledrummergirl · 02/03/2023 00:01

I might be missing something but how the fuck are they allowed to discuss government business over WhatsApp?
Surely that has to be a security risk? What about public records of how decisions are reached?

How many back door deals do we not know about?

Zonder · 02/03/2023 06:25

They can discuss govt business over WhatsApp because basically they've been in power so long they think they can do what they like and the rules do not apply to them.

Roussette · 02/03/2023 06:44

I am trying to get to grips with this WhatsAPP Hancock/Williamson story. I just do not understand why these Ministers aren't more careful. They should be imagining that everything they email or put on WhatsApp could become public property, and behave accordingly.

They don't care one little bit. Especially Hancock now he's set up his TV production company. He really is disgusting.

Notonthestairs · 02/03/2023 07:10

Conservative Deputy Chairman Lee Anderson says one family in his local constituency who regularly uses his local food bank, he also sees in McDonalds "two or three times a week."

How is this even possible? Does he have them under surveillance?

twitter.com/adambienkov/status/1631062874352222210?s=46&t=2-iiEV3vJloZXzgJmTaJFA

Anderson chucking out red meat for supporters and headline writers.

You'd assume at a minimum they'd receive some sort of security training?

So either they don't listen, they are too stupid to follow it, too egotistical to ever believe they might fall out of favour or they have terrible teenage FOMO and override their own concerns in order to join in.
I hope Labour are paying attention.

Notonthestairs · 02/03/2023 07:48

"Oakeshott complains that Hancock sent her a threatening message at 1.20am after he saw the Telegraph stories - which she hadn’t warned him about"

twitter.com/pickardje/status/1631191984319655937?s=46&t=2-iiEV3vJloZXzgJmTaJFA

I bet he sent that by WhatsApp!

itsgettingweird · 02/03/2023 08:05

The telegraph is also reporting the MH was totally for shutting schools during the pandemic and was annoyed that Johnson didn't and we had the debarcle that was January 2021.

Saucery · 02/03/2023 08:09

Still laughing that MH thought IO could be trusted. Serves him right

Lets say, past experience tells me that was somewhat nieve of MH. She has previous (not all of which is well known).

AdamRyan · 02/03/2023 08:19

I'm very confused by this MH stuff. Reading the texts about schools, he was completely right in what he said.
What is the agenda behind leaking this now? MH not even in government. I feel like it's a huge furry squirrel.....but why?

Notonthestairs · 02/03/2023 08:30

"What is the agenda behind leaking this now? MH not even in government. I feel like it's a huge furry squirrel.....but why?"

I am wondering the same thing. Fraser Nelson/Spectator/Isabel Oakeshott/Richard Tice etc were all vehemently against Lockdown policies so I suppose it is a way to discredit the Government's decision making.
But why now? Especially since newspapers like the Telegraph sit on stories for months/years waiting for the right time.
A way to distract from Sunak's (so far successful) Windsor Agreement?
No idea.

It's easy for messages to get lost?

We had Johnson who got a new phone and lost his wallpaper convo, Lord Bethel who needed space on his phone and lost PPE contract convo

Ofcourse they forget about the other people in the group.

"The Telegraph know what they are doing. They are undermining the Covid enquiry, and have fresh leverage over a swathe of Tory politicians, who know that they’ll be on tomorrow’s front page if they don’t ‘play ball’. 4/"

And here we have it, @BorisJohnson’s role in the great #HerdImmunity scandal which I first reported on for @BylineTimes in March 2020 (soon after the @Peston) article. Often denied, now confirmed. Bad science driven by the Spectator cost lives

There is only one certainty of the covid inquiry;
Those who are most at fault/broke the laws that they made will get off Scott free.
Some minor Whitehall and DofH lackeys will get mentioned/pilloried and blamed.
Nothing will be learnt.
And that will be that.

The parts that are well known should've been reason enough for him to run a mile!

pointythings · 02/03/2023 09:17

Going back to that electoral calculus site - it shows West Suffolk going to Labour!

I don't know what I will do if that happens. Cartwheels may be involved.

DuncinToffee · 02/03/2023 09:20

Kemi Badenoch thinks menopause only affects Left Wing people

Quite the clash at the Women and Equalities Committee where Kemi Badenoch accused Carolyn Harris of "speaking from a left wing perspective" after calling for a pilot on menopause leave

Cartwheels may be involved.

Be careful. A few years ago I decided to demonstrate how to do a cartwheel to my granddaughters (I used to be very good at cartwheels).
Unfortunately I forgot I was past 60.
