Thought it was paid to 16? 20 if in education?

You're right.
It's age 12 for NI contribution for sahps/carers.
And only for 2 children now of course.

IClaudine · 28/02/2023 22:08

You're mixing up child benefit with UC, I think, Chevy? No limit on the number of children for child benefit.

Either way, Gove's suggestion is vile.

It is indeed 😡
Yes I'm mixing it up with UC.
I only got NI contributions until dc were 12.
If you are in receipt of carers allowance you get it too.

itsgettingweird · 01/03/2023 07:17

Perhaps we need to start a campaign to become part of NI. That could work.

Forget brexit. We need NIjoin. (Nee join!)

That's it! I'll get some banners made up.

Ofcourse

Boris Johnson will not oppose Rishi Sunak’s Brexit deal because he can “see which way the wind is blowing”, allies have said

I read he'll avoid Parliament rather than vote on Windsor Agreement. Presumably he's arranging a convenient mini break somewhere.

DuncinToffee · 01/03/2023 09:28

Maybe he will cross the floor Wink

Well if he has seen which way the wind is blowing, he must surely have worked out that, that means a large Labour majority after the next election, so he may as well cross the floor. Its not as if he has any principals, so he would not be betraying anything.

Interesting. I would've thought the LD's would do better because tactical voting is needed in many constituences (like mine)

O)n Johnson... he has spent most of his time in politics on 'breaks' here there and everywhere. Except for the 2 year Covid time, when he partied instead.

Part of me agrees, but I wonder if tactical voting will matter less at this General Election, because it genuinely feels as though Labour could well win any seat given how big the swing is.

DowningStreetParty · 01/03/2023 13:29

Fucking hell, Gove can’t stoop any lower can he. Kicking anxious, or ill or unsupported kids and their families when they are down and facing massive challenges. Hope he’s really proud of himself for that one.

Yes I get what you're saying. But there are certain seats like mine, where Labour would never ever win I don't think.
In 2019 they put forward quite a weak candidate I feel. The LD one was amazing and very involved in farming, often on telly etc. She barely made a dent in the Tory majority of my MP who has been here 30 fucking years. We are in the constituency of 'put a blue rosette on a pig, and he'd win'.

However, never say never... let's see who is put forward at the next GE.

I have yet to meet a traunting student who doesn't know that if they could be in school they would be better off.

I would say the same about the constituency I live in, but predictions suggest Labour could possibly will win.

Have you got a link to a good prediction site... I don't like mine! It's like weather forecasts. If I don't like one, I find one that is better!

Actually scrub that! I've just put in my postcode and Labour has surged ahead of LD! And my small town in this constituency is predicted Labour by a whisker! On the bad news side, it's still a landslide tory seat 66% with Labour 31%

Eve · 01/03/2023 14:34

Seem comments this morning about Mad Nad having to pay back MPs salary as she’s not spoken in the house for 8 months. Do hope it’s true & can we get a refund on some more.

I just look at the Electoral calculus one, no idea if it is any good for much more than the trend.

DuncinToffee · 01/03/2023 18:00

Using that website, my constituency is predicted as

CON 64%
LIB 17%
LAB 19%

LAB used to be around the 7% mark.

Doesn’t make it easier to decide how to vote.

I'm in a bell weather constituency, we currently have a conservative MP but there is a 95% chance we will be labour next time.

Dsil seat is usually tory but looks likely to go yellow this time. She is aghast at the government and and has been on the picket line this year.

I'll have to look at my db, he's in farming country.

Piggywaspushed · 01/03/2023 18:18

According to the site Dorries ' seat is due to go to Labour. I can't see it, frankly. With her going, it's even less likely.

Fladdermus · 01/03/2023 18:18

My constituency is a weird one. It's blue wall but falls off the wagon. So elections normally go:

Conservative
Conservative
Conservative
Conservative
Conservative with Libdems giving them a run for their money
Conservative with Libdems giving them a run for their money
Feck it, massive Labour majority
Conservative
Conservative
(and repeat)

countrygirl99 · 01/03/2023 18:18

Predicting Labour for mine. I think the 3 socialist households in my village would throw a party

Fladdermus · 01/03/2023 18:22

Have they reinstated votes for Brits abroad yet? I think the tories are really keen as they think we're all rather conservativey. I hope they do as it'll bite them on the arse as we feckin hate the bastards and haven't drunk the coolaid.
