Still bloody stirring the pot.

Exclusive: Boris Johnson today privately urged the DUP to be cautious about backing Rishi Sunak's deal

The former PM spoke with the party this afternoon following reports that it was preparing to back the Windsor Framework, @politicshome understands

Self absorbed charlatan. He'll use anything and anyone to promote his own ambitions.

DuncinToffee · 27/02/2023 20:49

He didn't show up for Sunak’s statement, hiding in the fridge again I assume.

I bet Johnson Towers isn't a happy place to be this evening.

newnamethanks · 27/02/2023 22:23

I don't fully grasp the niceties of the NI thing but what a pleasure to see two political grown ups, standing side by side, and behaving in a civilised manner. It's been a while; it's been far too long. I hope this is the beginning of the end of the Blond Bombshell and his minions.

Northern Ireland will have access to the UK market and to the European single market, and that’s an incredibly attractive proposition for investors’. Rishi Sunak just now.

🙄

DowningStreetParty · 28/02/2023 08:38

Shame that Great Britain won’t have that same access…

countrygirl99 · 28/02/2023 08:41

Yes I'm sure there are plenty of businesses in England, Wales and Scotland that would love the same access. Maybe industry will start a campaign for all areas in the UK to have equal access to export markets. That might be interesting.

Notonthestairs · 28/02/2023 08:44

They are selling a deal that offers less than we had previously as a huge triumph.
It's infuriating.

DuncinToffee · 28/02/2023 08:52

Brexiteer Sunak inadvertently makes the case against Brexit

Don't forget also they all backed Johnson's deal and won an election on those lies they are now admitting to.

Well given Villiers comments yesterday I doubt most of them even read the original deal.

DuncinToffee · 28/02/2023 09:07

Cleverly didn’t going by his interviews this morning

Cleverly is the least eponymous politician there ever was.

Sunak showing he is a man of the people with this tweet

We’ve amended the legal text of the Protocol to ensure we can make critical VAT and excise changes for the whole of the UK.

So our cuts to the cost of a pint in the pub will now apply in Northern Ireland too.

He is such a poor communicator with terrible speech writers.

Well that's all the little people are concerned about - the cost of a pint.

NEW: Rough sleeping has risen in England for the first time since 2017. Number estimated to be sleeping rough on a single night in autumn 2022 is 3061. That’s:
^^
⬆️ 26% from 2021
^^
⬇️ 35% from 2017.
^^
⬆️ 74% from 2010.

Part of my job is sorting out strategies to stop people sleeping in branch doorways. We ate having a massive problem now. It virtually disappeared during covid. At some branches they "adopt" a friendly rough sleeper and give them breakfast and supply clothes so they claim the position and they don't get an aggressive one who makes opening up a problem or who spreads shit all over the door handles. Not recommended but effective in places.

IClaudine · 28/02/2023 11:09

So, Sunak says that being in the single market and UK makes Northern Ireland 'world's most exciting economic zone'.

If only there was a way to have the same thing for the rest of the UK. Is there some sort of scheme we could sign up to? 🤔

He is essentially saying if Britain rejoined the EU it would be better off.

Terrible figures out. Food inflation at a record 17.1%," average households "face an £811 increase to their annual grocery bill", and the govt's energy is still entirely consumed trying to manage yet another unnecessary internal Tory civil war.

Yep. What a bloody mess. But I am sure it is all Labour's fault.

Did he explain why he voted against cutting the rate of VAT on domestic fuel over a year ago, when prompt action might have mitigated some of the effects of rising fuel prices?

Because he doesn't know what a women is.
