So Ursula von der Leyen is meeting with King Charles at Windsor Castle this afternoon then... sounds a tad risky to me. There is talk that the Agreement, when Sunak and von der Leyen signs it, will be called 'The Windsor Agreement'.

Charles cannot help dabbling can he, just not sure this is wise.

DuncinToffee · 27/02/2023 14:30

Steven Swinford tweeted that Buckingham Palace is explicit in its statement that the King is meeting Ursula von der Leyen this afternoon on the advice of the government

'The King is pleased to meet any world leader... it is the government's advice that he should do so'

Let me guess, it is very nearly the same as the deal that was agreed with Theresa May that Boris then took months to negotiate a worse version of.

I don't count myself as all that bright, but I am pretty sure I know that it is not possible to have restriction free trade between rUK and NI and also have restricition free trade between NI and Ireland, if rUK and Ireland are operating to different rules. There has to be a border somewhere. If only there was some kind of shall we call it single market or perhaps even a customs union that could be joined to avoid this problem.

Theresa Villiers, senior eurosceptic Tory MP, tells @TimesRadio 'bitter experience' has taught her to read deals before voting for them

Awful woman, dreadful Sec of State for NI. Totally in bed with DUP.

She has so little self awareness that she doesn't realise how stupid she sounds saying I don't normally bother to read what I am voting on.

Wonderful, fierce articulate. Such a sad contrast with what's ruling us now.

Not 'Windsor Agreement' but close

Sunak: "We have made a decisive breakthrough...we've now agreed the 'Windsor Framework'

Not sure this will sell it

"If food is available on supermarket shelves in Great Britain it will be available in supermarket shelves in Northern Ireland" says Sunak.

We had a laugh at school today. One of the year groups is doing the enormous turnip for a story. They have loads of suedes (turnips) but this was obviously planned for last term and purchased during half term in preparation.

I walked in and said "I hope you realise that's dinner for 10 families right there on your classroom side" I can do that with this teacher as I know is absolutely hates the Tories with a passion. Grin

Woeful Villiers on the same thread as fabulous Betty Boothroyd. What a contrast. RIP Betty B.

DowningStreetParty · 27/02/2023 20:08

RIP Betty Boothroyd, you were a trailblazer for women with such vision and integrity. Flowers
I loved that video linked to above, thank you for sharing DuncinToffee

RIP Betty Boothroyd
A legend

Yes it highlighted Boothroyd's thoughtfulness in comparison with the vacuity of Braverman etc.

Blossomtoes · 27/02/2023 20:32

So sad to see Betty Boothroyd has gone. What an amazing woman she was, they don’t make them like her any more.
