I don't really understand why any Conservative supporter would want Johnson back now for the simple reason that the calls for a GE would be deafening. How on earth could they hope to explain the last year? They'd look ridiculous by any measure.

There is a familiar tone - can't quite put my finger on it.

I have come to the conclusion that the remaining Conservative supporters think a little differently to you and I.

Asked whether there is any evidence of actual in-person voter fraud in the UK (official figures show just one conviction for it at the last general election) Rishi Sunak's spokesman says that voter ID is required to guard against "potential" fraud.

There have been more convictions for Tory MP's breaking lockdown rules than there have been for voter fraud since 2017
You can fact-check this here as there have only been 4.

Those conviction stats say it all really.

Good article by Sam Coates providing an overview of what might have been negotiated and likely range of hurdles.
An awful lot seems to rest on fluffing the egos and self interests of certain groups.

Exc: The privileges committee - the MPs investigating whether Boris Johnson misled parliament over Partygate - carried out a site visit of Downing Street last night - to get a better understanding of the layout of the building and the context of where gatherings happened 1/

Why are there no guards against "potential" Tory fraud then?

This. Rishi needs to explain what he's doing about this since it's more than just potential.

I feel certain that having EU checks on good crossing the Irish Sea within the UK is a vote winner...

Yes it's fine to turn up with balaclavas and hammers and then set fire to police vans.
"Very fine people on both sides"

Notonthestairs · 23/02/2023 13:54

Ah, what a loss she was to Health & Social Care 🙄

Coffey doesn't give a rats arse. She knows she's only in position post Truss to keep her pissing outside of the tent rather than in to it.

Summed up nicely -
"The reason that we have food shortages in Britain and that we don’t have food shortages in Spain – or anywhere else in the EU – is because of Brexit, and also because of this disastrous Conservative government that has no interest in food production, farming or even food supply,” said chair Liz Webster."

How does me working more hours in my non food chain related role put tomatoes on a supermarket shelf?

And they wonder why we think they are a bunch of idiots...

DuncinToffee · 23/02/2023 15:00

Two clips of Coffey confirming that she talks complete shite

Batters, "Front page of every newspaper, salad shortages, Asda rationing."

Coffey, "We can't control the weather in Spain."

How the fuck are people meant to work more hours?

Mostly it gets eaten by childcare costs - and there's a shortage of available childcare.

If you work 0 hours contract you can only work what is available to you.

If you're salaried - what? A second job?

And they are dead against lay rises for people which would help.

They are beyond tone deaf and completely lacking in any intelligence.

L1ttledrummergirl · 23/02/2023 20:51

Dh works in a factory, they have been on a four day week since Christmas. At the moment we are hoping the company stays in business but thanks to Truss fucking up the budget that's starting to look less likely. Higher bills mean less money to spend on your home, meaning you spend less on keeping it up together. The factories have less work and go out of business.

I often wonder how they can face themselves in the mirror, but I guess they just don't look.

Notonthestairs · 23/02/2023 20:55

So we need to work longer hours and replace tomatoes with turnips and then all will be well.

The trouble is we have the wrong kind of Brexit, because the EU refused to let us have our turnips and eat them.

L1ttledrummergirl · 23/02/2023 21:27

We have the wrong kind of Brexit because our government are a bunch of fuckwits who are far more interested in their self interest first and are set on driving standards down instead of up.

No fucker wants chlorinated chicken from America so sign the vet agreement that cuts out half the crap at the borders and make our food standards at least as high as the EU.

Nobody (Unless you are intending to use people for your own ends) wants adverse changes to employment law or a reduction in safety standards so there is no problem with parity.

They need to start doing what's best for the country, not themselves.

Chevyimpala67 · 23/02/2023 21:28

Brexit: Work longer hours and eat turnips.

I can see why that wasn’t on the side of a bus.
