Was chatting to a friend about this. Are they a bit naff really?
DH and half my town seem to love them, I’m not fussed.
Dont know how to do a poll but was just wondering what you all think (obv not a first world issue I realise)

You couldn’t have that because it doesn’t meet any UK format.

I know - it was kind of ‘light hearted ‘
maybe I could get Looser though

If the government can make money out of selling them, I suppose that is not a bad thing.

Not noticed any with BMW drivers, presumably because you cannot make the words 'small penis' from a registration number.

My plate has a format of xxxx xx.
It's legal. You definitely can have a a numberplate not in the "normal" way

Yes, you can have plates that are in the format 1234 AB.

Been thinking about buying a new car and using my old number plate from a car 20 years old, can’t stand number plate date snobbery.

Do it, if you still have it. I wish I still had my first reg but the DVLA don’t reissue number plates so I can’t have it now.

DesertIslandCondiment · 24/01/2023 22:05

I wouldn't have one on my old little car but we have a vehicle that has a plate that relates to it. We love it. The people who have the same vehicle probably wouldn't think it was naff either.

It's nothing to with hiding the age of the vehicle.

VickerishAllsort · 24/01/2023 22:09

When we got ours (see below) it was on a little Fiat. It's now on a BMW.
I'm aware that it makes us look like a pair of pretentious knobs, but I know we're not so don't care what a bunch of judgemental randoms think.

I don't think it does though. You like it and a lot of people don't judge what number plate somebody has and just realise we all like different things.

I don't like some things but I don't care if other people do. Designer handbags for one but I don't judge people who like them.

DesertIslandCondiment · 24/01/2023 22:39

My Aunt & Uncle have a number plate that relates to their Son that died at 18. If makes them happy so I don't think they care if they are being judged. They had it when he was alive and disabled.

The ''Naff" comments are a bit knobby ti be honest.

People like different things.

SO naff. I cringe when I see one.

Bess you. It must be so hard driving and cringing all the time.

Deathraystare · 25/01/2023 07:32

Really cannot see the point.

Sirius3030 · 25/01/2023 08:03

I borrowed a car with a three digit personalised plate for a year while owner was abroad. In that year I was stopped 3 times by the police. In each case for no reason, but a fishing trip by the police. Never before, and never since, in over 40 years of driving. I kept the car without that number plate so it wasn’t the car.
