happy it's Friday! I have given up coffee for Lent, two days of horrible headaches and a couple of early nights has sorted the withdrawal out...

The dog is sitting chatting to me - have no idea what she wants, although whilst typing she has flopped down in a favourite slot for a snooze.

Today's tasks:

  • sort out and do a load of laundry
  • do an online shop
  • walk said dog
  • shred a load of paperwork
  • move a chair - it was going to the tip but I fancy doing a makeover on it; so I might hide it for now :-)

That's all for now,

Have a good day

SoE

RunningKatie · 24/02/2023 16:51

Gosh @SpiritOfEdna - I cannot imagine giving up coffee. Good luck!
I am very TGIFriday. Glad to be home, there's loads to be done but it can wait 10mins whilst I decompress.
Seeing a friend for lunch tomorrow which will be good.

AllTheExtraClouds · 25/02/2023 06:52

You are brave @SpiritOfEdna! I gave up wheat and had that horrible headache for days as well. I tell myself I don't have to have my one morning coffee, but I would find it hard to give up.

@RunningKatie I hope that your lunch with your friend rejuvenates you 😊

Yesterday I put car through car wash and hoovered it out, got rid of two bags of general grot that had been taken out of car and sat in my lounge for over a week, and finally dealt with a pile of books, papers, pens etc that had built up on the floor beside my bed. And changed the bed sheets, so I went to bed feeling accomplished 😊

Today I plan to continue with the flylady routines (sorry not sorry) and I'm going for the downstairs windowsills which have become a bit cluttered as well. We've some grot outside too which I'd like to get to the tip tomorrow.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend 💐

ComeTheSpringLobelia · 25/02/2023 07:32

Morning all.

I also need to give my car a thorough clean...... maybe tomorrow.

Today is a bacon buttie - film and popcorn- pizza kind of day. Plus some ironing as I am behind.

Hope everyone is well.

ComeTheSpringLobelia · 26/02/2023 07:15

Morning!!

The car cleaning is still on the list.

I decluttered three massive trash bags yesterday and sorted useable stuff into three massive bags for charity.

Will continue on today. I have booked a trip to the tip for tomorrow on the way back from the school run.

AllTheExtraClouds · 26/02/2023 09:00

Hello! That sounds like a good job jobbed @ComeTheSpringLobelia with those bags!
We can just turn up at the tip round here - though often a queue at weekends.
Might prepare my tip stuff and get my car seats down today, and take it tomorrow as I have morning off.

petalpower · 26/02/2023 09:15

@ComeTheSpringLobelia I washed my car on Friday and then my husband borrowed it yesterday to pick up some fruit trees which involved going down lots of muddy back country lanes. Haven’t looked too closely but suspect it’s pretty filthy again. Last time he used it he got mud from his boots wedged into the accelerator pedal mechanism so it wouldn’t go down properly. This meant a trip to the garage for me to get it taken out with their high pressure air thingy.

My main job for today is to put together a photo album for MIL - we found an old album of photos of her as a baby (she’s 88 next week) and I have had them scanned and enlarged. Printed them out yesterday on a flying visit to local town and bought a suitable album. Her birthday is coming up so it will be part of her present.

petalpower · 26/02/2023 09:17

Cross posts with you there @AllTheExtraClouds . I hate going to our tip as the parking is so tight and it’s pretty small. Always a good feeling when I’ve been though.

RunningKatie · 26/02/2023 11:39

I'm planning a charity shop dropoff on Tues, using the teacher strike as a reason to take annual leave. Dd has no idea we are blitzing her room and sorting all her clothes out. She's going to be not at all delighted!
I've just labelled a load of school trousers, dog walk planned for later, it's gloriously sunny here but so cold.
Happy Sunday all

Oh exactly this - our tip has tight parking as well, and you have to reverse in on an angle. I am Not A Fan.

The booking slots are also a bit of a pain @AllTheExtraClouds . It's one of those things that happened 'cos covid and never went back to normal.....

I am feeling accomplished today. Another waste bag done and another charity bag done.

DH came in this morning and mused that perhaps he could put up some paintings I bought a few years back from auction. It's rare for me to buy stuff but i loved these paintings. Framed in black and by a man named Gordon Barker.... naive art with lovely bright colours that I just adore. Here are some examples. The ones I bought are of children playing in the snow.

I feel like things are coming together....

Oh the photo album job is a lovely job @petalpower :) I am sure your MIL will love it.

petalpower · 26/02/2023 18:40

@SnowAndIceLobelia i hope she will love them. It’s 50/50 as she’s quite stiff upper lip!

AllTheExtraClouds · 27/02/2023 08:57

Morning! Slow start for me today. Have loaded car, then it's off to the tip for me after breakfast. We have to reverse into herringbone spaces too, and I also hate it.

That picture is very bright and cheery @ComeTheSpringLobelia . I like it!

Hope MIL likes her album @petalpower ! Thinking of doing similar for my mum. I have lots of family photos in the loft and I would like to make printed albums for all my children.

Hope you have a productive day with DD tomorrow @RunningKatie!

Hope everyone is ok. Did @Peridot1 make it down under?

I got a pm from one of our number, except it was deleted by admin before I saw it. So I hope they are ok and it was just an error 💕

Glorious day but I'm still in bed and looking at it. I expect it's cold. It's a pottering day for me, and I must get moving or the day will be wasted.

Catch you all later 👋

Peridot1 · 27/02/2023 11:30

G'day all from Sydney!

I did make it safely. Had a lovely relaxing first week away with friends and than a busy but lovely weekend with another friend. Now back in Sydney for a couple of weeks with various catch ups with friends and family.

Our dog gave us all a huge fright on Friday with what we thought was a stroke but was something called vestibular ataxia. DH and DS have been looking after her really well but at one point we weren't sure she would make it. I felt very far away and helpless. And guilty for being here and having such a great time.

Glad you are all doing well.

SpiritOfEdna · 27/02/2023 12:00

My car had a strategic passenger side clean up on Saturday as I was going out Saturday night and giving someone a lift. It was an evening so darkness hides a lot :-) No tip trip for me this weekend gone - I quite missed it

My list for today:

  • clean the art stuff from Saturday
  • walk the doggo
  • order some print frames - I went to hang some prints up and the frames all had something wrong with them ggrrrr
  • need to get the bikes ready for some nicer weather cycling, so will check tyres today, put a water bottle holder on TheNiece's bike

Oops, just noticed the time, off to present weekly updates.

Have a good day.

SoE

RunningKatie · 28/02/2023 07:52

Morning all!
Has anyone seen the Northern Lights these past few nights? It's been too cloudy here, and we're on the edge of a city so lots of light pollution.
Day off today, got a massive list, dd has to login to check for school work so am planning many house jobs.

SpiritOfEdna · 28/02/2023 14:01

Not here, middle of the city so not too much to see and very cloudy.

I've woken up with an horrible cold today, luckily not too many meetings and I will finish at 4 and pray I am on form for tomorrow.

TheNiece is off on her first solo trip into town on the bus with 'me mates'. She is beyond happy.

No tasks for me today, walked the dog and i was very slow :-)

SnowAndIceLobelia · 28/02/2023 14:56

Sadly did not see them here either. Lots of light pollution and cloud!

Today I have finished off some docs I have been procrastinating on. And put some clothes away. And admired DH's handiwork in the bathroom.

petalpower · 28/02/2023 21:32

No, nothing here in East Anglia either.
Today (amongst other things!) I’ve brushed the dog’s teeth, been to aqua fit, visited auntie in the nursing home and helped DD with her dissertation presentation. A varied day!!

Aria999 · 28/02/2023 23:05

Hi everyone!

Had a couple of spare hours yesterday so I installed a replacement loo seat and tidied the playroom (during which time DH tidied the entire rest of the house 😳 I think I need to up my game)

Currently multi tasking organizing travel and feeding kids.

SpringLobelia · 01/03/2023 06:42

Morning!

Today is the first day of meteorological spring!

So I forsee a celebratory meal plus some easter eggs and some sparkling wine for dinner. I found this winter very - tiring.

Happy Spring! (@Peridot1 happy autumn!)

Today I am picking up some paint for skirting board touchups. Plus tidying for the cleaner who comes tomorrow.

Hmmm... celebratory spring meal..... has to be lamb surely?!

AllTheExtraClouds · 02/03/2023 06:06

I forgot to even look for northen lights. There have been some gorgeous starlit evenings though.
Oh @RunningKatie I'd hate to be a school kid. Teachers on strike and thinking you've got a day off, and finding you can't wriggle out of working because of computers. Haven't times changed?!

Sorry to hear about your dog @Peridot1 One of ours had that and it's really scary. Can't be much fun for the dog either but medication usually sorts it out. I hope she's ok and you're still having a good time!

Might have become spring yesterday but i had to chisel frozen raindrops off my car windscreen before i could go to work! It was glorious later though. I hope the sunshine, chocolate eggs and some wine boosted your mood @SpringLobelia

AllTheExtraClouds · 02/03/2023 06:18

@Aria999 I imagine fixing a loo seat and tidying a playroom is equivalent to tidying the rest of the house 💐

Hope you're on the mend @SpiritOfEdna and I bet niece loved her first grown up outing!

Where is our lovely @FatSealSmugSoup? If you're reading I hope you're ok!

Ah @petalpower sometimes I feel i could have written your posts, just with a few adjustments.....clipped cat's claws, took mum out, ran an errand for a DC who's car broke down (no dissertations here)

My house is starting to take shape again now I feel more capable of focusing on daily tasks. Small habits are building and I'm back to doing my kettle boiling jobs. I've just had a small sort out of plastic tubs and found their lids. I'm really quite impressed with myself 💪 Have a lovely day everyone 💕

RunningKatie · 02/03/2023 07:35

I know @AllTheExtraClouds - covid and remote learning means the snow days of my childhood are a lovely memory but now kids will be stuck inside at a screen.
Today I want to look at my national insurance contributions, there's a few threads on here about it which made me think.

AllTheExtraClouds · 03/03/2023 15:52

I need to do that too @RunningKatie Last time i looked I had missed four years. Two of those were when I was still at school. So I don't know what that's all about.

I've achieved quite a lot this week. I have reclaimed a room which pleases me, and I have maintained the daily routines which means clutter hasn't crept in on the areas that I did last week.

It's the weekend already! Hope you're all well 💕
