Bin day. Never used to think about it really. Now I’m proper obsessed with bin day and what to leave out when…

garden birds and feeding them.

it was like a switch flipped and now I’m buying high quality fat balls and ground feeding mixes….

Ambient lighting. I HATE putting the "big light" on so spend the late afternoon turning on all the various lamps/wall lights to create a cozy atmosphere.

topcat2014 · 02/01/2023 08:14

I spend more time worrying about whether there is a load of washing ready to put on

FlickFlackTrap · 02/01/2023 08:16

Women’s rights and the safeguarding of children.
If you’re not angry you’re not paying attention.

Lentilweaver · 02/01/2023 08:19

state of the NHS

chocolateasaltyballs22 · 02/01/2023 08:19

Making sure the bathrooms are dry after showers before closing the windows.

RelativePitch · 02/01/2023 08:20

100%. I have to be obsessed with the bins because we're on quite a complicated bin schedule in this area. I am also obsessed with feeding the birds and finding them quality food. I then stare at them like a happy simpleton for ages.

squashyhat · 02/01/2023 08:31

Health, or lack thereof.

Bosk · 02/01/2023 08:34

Yeah, women's rights.

I'm embarrassed for younger me.

Seeleyboo · 02/01/2023 08:40

All of the above. I have more bird seed on the cereal shelf than cereal. Obsessively feed my 2 chihuahuas fresh food only and can't wait till dinner is done so I can cosy up in my bed and watch TV. I have started calling my bedroom my bedsit. I love how warm and friendly it is. I find new obsessions weekly as I age.

picklemewalnuts · 02/01/2023 08:42

All the above including women's rights, NHS and so on.

But the birds and jigsaws are a new fascination.

It's like pregnancy nesting, but for older folk.

StarsOnDress · 02/01/2023 08:44

My auntie used to always be off on a girly holiday somewhere giving no shits about anything.

Now she obsesses about bin day and car parking spaces outside her house.

SavouryFlavour · 02/01/2023 08:44

Recycling glass. DH dumped a lot of half empty, manky jars of jam/chutney/Thai green curry paste etc into the general waste bin, and I nearly shoved him aside in my haste to get in there with a mini spatula.

DifficultBloodyWoman · 02/01/2023 08:46

Gardening. Specifically, my roses.

@steelseries I’ve bought two table lamps and a floor lamp in the last year. I can see myself going this way.

@FlickFlackTrap Absolutely!!!

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 02/01/2023 08:47

Plucking my chin hairs

GeordieMamma · 02/01/2023 08:50

Definitely how the neighbours are parking. How dare they park opposite my drive😅!
Not wanting to run out of milk, even though we don’t really get through much now.

Totally!

whatisforteamum · 02/01/2023 08:52

Slippers.I always thought old people wore them as my grandparents did.
I now have 2 pairs put aside for when my current ones wear out.🤣
I think it is because I feel the cold.My excuse anyway.

musicalfrog · 02/01/2023 08:53

Another vote for women's and children's rights and protections. Sadly I don't think as many people are aware of the current threats to them, or simply have their heads in the sand.

I find myself worrying daily about it tbh.

This is me ... seeing Mr Robin pottering around the garden is the highlight of my day Grin

LearnerCook · 02/01/2023 09:04

Women's rights again. I worry so much for younger women and girls in the family and how the future might look for them. I feel so stupid when I think back to 20/30 years ago, when I naively believed women had equality.

Agree with this

Whether I need to go to the supermarket today or another day, I can get milk in the local shop and have plenty of food at home.

Obsessing about planning shopping trips e.g. I need to go to Pets at Home in the town centre which is in the same place as Lidl and Home Bargains but I want to go to The Range which is further away but It's ok because Home Bargains is up the road from The Range but I can go to Lidl on a slight detour but do I really need anything and another Pets at Home is further down the road.

I reckon a round the world trip would be easier to plan.
