Bin day. Never used to think about it really. Now I’m proper obsessed with bin day and what to leave out when…

garden birds and feeding them.

it was like a switch flipped and now I’m buying high quality fat balls and ground feeding mixes….

Lol at the random bins! Love it.
I am so far from being bin obsessed that I have frequently sprinted down the street in my dressing gown, dragging my bin and screaming at the scaffies to stop the lorry, as I have forgotten again.
I am 67, so perhaps just a late developer?!

Fluffymule · 02/01/2023 14:12

Women's rights - have realised how much what I took for granted was built on rocky ground
Health - ditto
Gardening - particularly what to prune, and when, and how

hoochyhag · 02/01/2023 14:19

@BestIsWest and @TroysMammy are making me feel massively homesick Wink

But, obsessed with cats poo in the garden and picking it up, and whether we should move to a bungalow.

Haven't seen birds in my garden for ages despite spending huge amounts on seed and delicious fat balls.

Also getting excited about planting seeds Grin

pifflesticks · 02/01/2023 14:22

Getting to bed before 10pm.

Gwenhwyfar · 02/01/2023 14:31

Living in a flat with no outside space when the general waste is only collected once every two weeks is enough to make you paranoid about missing a bin collection.
I have two collections a week now, but it's hard to calm down about it!

I'm not yet into bird feeding or gardening...

BestIsWest · 02/01/2023 14:32

@hoochyhag sorry!
With yiu on the bungalow search too. Every day on Zoopla.

RUNPMTS · 02/01/2023 14:41

My jawline. It's a saggy messy, my jowls are something to behold. I'm only 47! I thought I had until at least my 60s before I started looking like my dad 🙄

And yes women's rights, but that's so depressing I've had to step away from that a bit for my mental health.

roarfeckingroarr · 02/01/2023 14:42

Women's rights - safeguarding single sex spaces, services and facilities. Centring women, their safety, privacy and dignity.

LulooLemon · 02/01/2023 14:45

Definitely women's rights which are steadily slipping away.

More and more males are now claiming transgender status.

Women are losing their previously female-only spaces.

This bothers me greatly.

Where the loos are on any trip out of the house.
Shopping...loos
New job...loos
Walk.well you get my drift.

Oh God yes this!

I'm also obsessed with my home and car (and me!) smelling nice. Scented candles on the go constantly and those Airwick battery operated air fresheners going off every 15 mins. A friend of mine popped in to use my loo (we'd been out for a long walk together) and my Airwick spraying him while he was having a pee nearly gave him a heart attack apparently (which made me laugh).

I'm also fixated on the thread count of sheets, feather/down bedding, thick towels....I'm so middle aged 😂

TroysMammy · 02/01/2023 15:40

@BestIsWest and @hoochyhag I'm nearly having seed planting excitement. I have bought a hose cleaning brush for my greenhouse and I had tomato halos and a pair of secateurs for Christmas. Looking forward to planning and snipping.

BestIsWest · 02/01/2023 16:50

I got very excited just now about a coal tit on the bird table.

RelativePitch · 02/01/2023 17:00

@whatisforteamum at what age can I look forward to loo planning? That's worried me. At the moment I go out with gay abandon. I'm 47.

whatisforteamum · 02/01/2023 17:21

Always knew where they were, menopause just focused my attention. Mid 50s.

Spect8 · 02/01/2023 17:32

Constantly opening cupboards/wardrobes/drawers to declutter, then making tea instead.

Constantly looking for cheap flights to unusual European destinations. And going there on my own often!

Foreign property websites. Perchance to dream.

Bins no problem. Birds are well fed around here, big park at back, but I do it in snowy/icy weather.

Getting angry at being deemed a TERF because I support women's spaces.

Going anywhere so I can to use my heated car seats.

I am retired now, took it early thankfully so can be as eccentric as I want to be.

Axlcat · 02/01/2023 17:41

Definitely an obsession with garden birds. So much so I got a pair of binoculars for Christmas. What happened to me?!

hoochyhag · 02/01/2023 17:42

@BestIsWest and @TroysMammy
Zoopla searches for bungalows in the Swansea area 😂

The weather! I check the forecast several times a day!

Backstreets · 02/01/2023 18:03

child safeguarding, and the state of my fucking neck

coodawoodashooda · 02/01/2023 18:04

FlickFlackTrap · 02/01/2023 08:16

Women’s rights and the safeguarding of children.
If you’re not angry you’re not paying attention.

So true.

catsnthat · 02/01/2023 18:09

The state of the nhs - I think I'm more worried about getting ill and needing it the older I get.

sleepweelady · 02/01/2023 18:09

My cushions on sofa being neat! It's irrational how angry it makes me when the kids turf them on the floor

Mimilamore · 02/01/2023 18:18

Yup, bins and birds!

Nosecamera · 02/01/2023 18:20

If I get bin day right I feel like a proper grown up. I'm not feeding birds this year because of avian flu but jave left plenty of wind fall apples for my black birds. I've been checking out breadcrumbs for the Robin that's been loitering by the back door but I think ddog has been sniffling them.
Keeping onto of the domestic routine that I know works and makes things easier is definitely quite mentally consuming.
