Bin day. Never used to think about it really. Now I’m proper obsessed with bin day and what to leave out when…

garden birds and feeding them.

it was like a switch flipped and now I’m buying high quality fat balls and ground feeding mixes….

Washing the laundry

NannyOggsWhiskyStash · 02/01/2023 18:23

Chin hairs, plants, ambient lighting and fancy skin creams

Lostthewilltolive1970 · 02/01/2023 18:32

My DH obsesses with our wheely bins and other people putting their rubbish in ours! So much so, he has now chained them up! They have more chains than Jacob Marley!

BarrelOfOtters · 02/01/2023 18:34

God help me if the neighbours start putting out random bins.

ambient lighting yes.

Women's rights - safeguarding single sex spaces, services and facilities. Centring women, their safety, privacy and dignity.

This with bells on. Also angry at being called a TERF for fighting against the erosion of our protected single sex spaces. I find it truly frightening and despair for my DD and her generation.

FlickFlackTrap · 02/01/2023 08:16

Women’s rights and the safeguarding of children.
If you’re not angry you’re not paying attention.

This!

Mañanarama · 02/01/2023 18:55

I’m obsessed with how shite my eco washing machine is, and intend to plot its demise so I can buy a full-fat water guzzling bastard.

Might also get divorce papers served on me purely for aforementioned obsession.

ThreeRingCircus · 02/01/2023 18:59

Yes to women's rights.

Also agree with ambient lighting, bird feeders and houseplants.

Mine is the thread count of sheets and that I must have brushed cotton bedding in the winter. I wouldn't have given a toss when I was younger but the thought of sleeping on polyester blend sheets now fills me with horror.

creamwitheverything · 02/01/2023 19:01

Lists and the amount of time I spend writing them...

orangetriangle · 02/01/2023 19:02

Being warm
Is it going to be snowing and or icy
getting enough sleep
health
noise

gettingalife · 02/01/2023 19:05

Sleep. How much I need to function reasonably sanely, what time I need to be in bed by, what time I needto be asleep by. When did this happen? What have I become? Shock

Anotheryear23 · 02/01/2023 19:07

I definitely do some of these as I have got older.

I’m doing the loo planning thing (only started since the pandemic when public toilets were shut but I’m still doing it.)

I’m checking doors several times before I go out even though I know I’ve locked them.

I love talking about people’s ailments.

If I hear a story about someone who’s had an unfortunate accident I am hyper aware of how it might happen to me.

I have also started noticing things like potholes and graffiti in my area and have taken to officially complaining a lot.

I’m ok with the bins!

whoamitojudge · 02/01/2023 19:09

Clean bedding ( not that I was a skank when I was younger but nothing beats getting into a freshly made bed before dh ddog and dcat) 😂😂

HangerLaneGyratorySystem · 02/01/2023 19:09

I’ve found my people!

JanuaryBluehoo · 02/01/2023 19:10

@FlickFlackTrap and @musicalfrog

Spudlet · 02/01/2023 19:12

Car boot capacity. The purchase of our new car was almost entirely dictated by its ability to carry a Labrador, several bikes and a child seat. Other considerations (performance, appearance etc) were a long way down the list.

Another vote for removing chin hairs too. Where do they come from?!

hmmmintereting · 02/01/2023 19:13

Noise. I used to be the noise; now I'm hyper sensitive to anything above a conversational volume.

BarrelOfOtters · 02/01/2023 19:14

Oh yes officially complaining. I haven’t actually done it yet…but I’m gearing myself up to…I can feel it in my waters. As soon as I’ve found something that irritates me sufficiently. That won’t take long.

Spudlet · 02/01/2023 19:17

@BarrelOfOtters Yeah, but have you objected to a planning application yet?! 😳

To be fair, it was in a really stupid place that would have been at risk of flooding and would have made the road super dangerous, but I still felt deeply middle aged as I marshalled my carefully worded arguments…

BarrelOfOtters · 02/01/2023 19:19

@spudlet, no but I can’t walk past one without reading it….even if it means crossing the road.

Looking after my teeth.

Ventilating the house.

Emptying the washing basket.

PollyCreo · 02/01/2023 19:21

Getting home at a reasonable time. NYE party - I was so relieved when everyone started grabbing their coats at 00.25 😅

When I was young I would sneak out of the house to go to a party, now I sneak out of a party to go home*

*this bit is not original, I saw it on a greetings card 😂

Spudlet · 02/01/2023 19:21

DH found out about this one when he stopped his bike ride to read it specifically, and came home in a lather of indignation. Then we both objected. We used to be young and cool(ish)…

Whether I need to go to the supermarket today or another day, I can get milk in the local shop and have plenty of food at home.

Obsessing about planning shopping trips e.g. I need to go to Pets at Home in the town centre which is in the same place as Lidl and Home Bargains but I want to go to The Range which is further away but It's ok because Home Bargains is up the road from The Range but I can go to Lidl on a slight detour but do I really need anything and another Pets at Home is further down the road.

I reckon a round the world trip would be easier to plan.

This!

GlassBunion · 02/01/2023 19:26

YESSS!!! @TroysMammy

As to birds... practically pissed myself when a goldfinch arrived last summer! ( we live in sparrows and wasps territory.)
