Why do you punctuate your ellipses so randomly?

Three different HarperCollins editors all with a very different idea of what was correct. Now I just scatter them in at random and hope for the best!

ImustLearn2Cook · 31/12/2022 00:36

@ErrolTheDragon Thank-you for sharing that link. I just finished reading it. It is so very well written and illustrates the issue perfectly.

A tip - if you can't be correct at least be consistent. Wink

BoreOfWhabylon · 31/12/2022 00:37

Also, one of them is a space werewolf and one is an idiot man child, so they’re unlikely to know the difference.
Fair enough, context is all.

And now I really am going. Night all.

Oh, and please don't be mean to JD. He seems a good sort (and we may get discounted books!)

I agree. All joking aside, fun as this has all been, this comic has just made me realise I don’t do nearly as much as I thought I did. Properly eye-opening. Thank you.

MeinKraft · 31/12/2022 00:42

@ErrolTheDragon that's the one!

@JDKirk thanks for popping on. I am definitely going to read one of your novels. Very possibly The Wrath of Vajazzle.

Goodnight @JDKirk thanks for being a good sport.

He sounds a decent chap, but since he has admitted his research into everything else is equally half-arsed I don't think I'll be bothering with the books, even at a discounted rate. I can't abide books where not even token, easily-achieved research (such as spending a couple of hours on the internet) has been completed.

MsFogi · 31/12/2022 00:46

Ah yes - us ladies on MN spend our time sending hugs, lovehearts and emojis rather than offering any real advice, insight, humour or scintillating conversation.

That’s bit was a joke.

Only some of it is half-arsed.

Is there an edit button?!

I'll be sticking to fully-arsed books, but all the best, JD.

JDKirk · 31/12/2022 00:51

Probably wise. All the best!

Alas, no edit button. Don't worry, we are used to typos and auto-correct howlers here.

Tyler's info's out of date, on the second page where he claims that there's no way Lois could have found the posts without searching for "infidelity". These days, they'd be right out there in a "Similar Threads" list, and her emojis would spur outraged cries of "ZOMBIE THREAD!" until the Nite Wotcha came and hid the whole thread. 💖💚💝

Grin just reading this thread and was thinking “she posted at ‘just after 3’ ?” if that was 3am then I would have been totes suspicious of the resurrected cheating thread and the copious heart emojis and would have zapped the post for being trolly, or goady…Wink
MsFogi · 31/12/2022 01:12

So @JDKirk - we look forward to you posting on AIBU [https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/am_i_being_unreasonable] and getting to grips with the issues discussed on Sex and Gender [https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_rights].

MsFogi · 31/12/2022 01:24

Does anyone know if Emma did a follow up to the 'Mental Load' comic with an 'Emotional Load' article?

ImustLearn2Cook · 31/12/2022 02:14

@JDKirk I initially thought that you were a regular Mumsnetter who name changed to JDKirk as a bit of a joke. But now I’m starting to think that you really are J D Kirk. If so, thanks for coming on Mumsnet and being a good sport.

FWIW there is an edit button if you click on preview but not after you have clicked on post.

ImustLearn2Cook · 31/12/2022 02:17

Oh, and if you are a regular Mumsnetter who name changed to JDKirk for a bit of a joke, good one. 😀

I mean, do you really think he would appreciate being called, say, in true Mumsnet style, a cockwomble, or wank badger, for not having understood even the basics of Mumsnet? Grin

He's definitely a bit of a plonker for mixing us up with the other lot, mind you, that's how I ended up here, sleep deprived got the words in the wrong order. (Though I would argue that the health visitor got the words in the wrong order and I accidentally put the the correct way round Wink )
