Waves to @JDKirk if it is indeed you. Love it!

JDKirk · 31/12/2022 09:13

@ImustLearn2Cook No, as far as I know, I’m definitely me. I got an email pointing me to this conversation and couldn’t resist joining in. :)

@BlackeyedSusan You could always use this if you wanted some more inspiration: link.jdkirk.com/insultme

@BertaHoon Oh God, you found me!

BruceAndNosh · 31/12/2022 09:25

@JDKirk well done for facing your reviewers.
I like your sense of humour

DashingWhiteSergeant · 31/12/2022 09:28

Hah! I think Tyler is more a Netmums guy. Sinead would be good on Mumsnet, and Hoo. Would be bloody epic @Dablikeacrap

It’s J.D Kirk’s DCI Jack Logan series. Easy mindless reading and I’ve enjoyed the entire series so far!

And each book gets better, the umpires is good, and while I didn’t warm to Hoon at first I do like the spin offsz

Hahaha. I'm brushing my teeth and have a cold. Think I just snorted toothpaste up by nasal passage 🤣

💖

I read that as "up my anal passage".

❤️❤️

JDKirk · 30/12/2022 23:29

Damn. Properly screwed this one up, didn’t I…? The only defence I have to offer is that I’m naturally a very lazy person.

Also, if it’s any consolation, my research into everything else is equally half-arsed, so it was nothing personal.

Still, I take full responsibility for having almost no idea what I was talking about (I say ‘almost’ because I did at least spell it right) and I hope we can someday find a way to move on from this.

😂

ArticSaviour · 31/12/2022 09:33

@JDKirk - give us some Hoon level swearing please. It's Mumsnet. You're allowed.

ImustLearn2Cook · 31/12/2022 09:42

@JDKirk That’s totally awesome. Thx for joining us. Careful though, Mumsnet is very addictive 😁

You mean like calling Netmums an arse eyed cacophony of fuckwits?

I couldn’t possibly do that.

TimeToFlyNow · 31/12/2022 10:48

I ended up on here buy accident after trying to sign up to the other side and not being able to for some reason. It's probably a good thing, I wouldn't have lasted long there

Thanks for popping by @JDKirk

The question I have is did Lisa die because she put hearts and such like as replies?

MeinKraft · 31/12/2022 12:20

@JDKirk will you put in your next novel a thread to mumsnet and Centre Parcs as a little Easter egg for us Grin

Center Parcs & Anal sex www.mumsnet.com/Talk/mumsnet_classics/1385104-Center-Parcs-Anal-sex

It certainly would mean instant social death on MN to put shit emojis in as a reply! That and calling people 'Hun'.

ImustLearn2Cook · 31/12/2022 13:38

@Dablikeacrap Did you imagine when you started this thread the author of the book would come on and have a pretty good sense of humour about it all? Also, I know that we joke about being a den of vipers but really in all honesty there are so many awesome people (mums, dads, grandparents, people who don’t have children and interesting people from all over the world (I am from Down Under by the way) and let’s not forget our very persistent trolls). We are so diverse.

Please forgive me, being in a different time zone and it being 30 minutes until midnight here, I’ve had a few beers. But, I just love Mumsnet. It never ceases to engage me or surprise me in some way.

Hope you all have an awesome New Year’s Eve, I have:) Even though I stood in line for over an hour with Dd so she could have her face painted at the festival today. I met some pretty cool people in line. We watched the early fireworks at 8 pm for the kids. I love fireworks.

Tipsy monologue over. Have an awesome evening everyone 🤩

IcakethereforeIam · 31/12/2022 13:44

Happy New Year, see you in 2023 in a few hours.

ImustLearn2Cook · 31/12/2022 13:44

I’ve just looked at the clock. It will be midnight in just 15 minutes here in Australia. I’m going to sit on the balcony and see if I can see the fireworks in the city from here 🎆🎇Someone create better fireworks emoji!

ImustLearn2Cook · 31/12/2022 13:46

Hi @IcakethereforeIam Happy New Year to you in a few hours. 🥳

I watched the Sydney fireworks live on YouTube!

I’ve not read any of these books but I might start now. Especially if there is going to be a proper mention of MN in the next one. You can tell when authors and screen writers are actual MNers as there are very subtle clues.

I absolutely did not expect it at all. I’m actually a bit gutted that I was so engrossed in the book that I missed the author popping his head in!

if anyone is thinking of reading the DCI Jack Logan series, I’ve honestly really enjoyed it and will be looking forward to the Rob Hoon series after

happy new year everyone!
