Anyone else have a totally irrational dislike of something?

There is a set of traffic lights/junction near me which I absolutely hate. Nothing bad has ever happened to me there, but i have a loathing for it that I cant explain or understand. Its not a difficult junction either.

I actively go out of my way to avoid it.

Taylor Swift is famous because she is a massively talented singer songwriter 🙄. She’s far better than the Beatles if you listen to her stuff and there is lots of it. Sadly think it’s misogyny if she were a normal looking bloke she would be lauded.

I get irrationally annoyed by adult women with two “cutesy” plaits or bunches on either side of their head. The cut off age for that is 9 and that’s pushing it. You don’t look cute or quirky you look daft.

Drivers who engage the handbrake without pressing the button so it goes click click click click.

TastesLikeFlavourlessFizz · 17/12/2022 02:38

Laughing so much at all of these!

In no particular order, mine are:

Walking to the train station. Totally don’t mind walking back from it though.

Macy Gray’s voice. It makes me itch and feel sick.

Loose hairs. Absolutely fine with the same hair attached to a head.

Pointy spoons. I like an oval.

American spellings. I like to passive-aggressively change all the Zs to Ss when I’m revising work documents.

Putting clothes on the airer. Can’t think of a worse chore.

How my new osteo keeps looking at herself in the mirror as she working on me. I feel like I shouldn’t care but it’s so bloody weird!

Men who wear a suit and tie then they remove the jacket and are wearing a short sleeved shirt. Bleeurgh.

Pineapplep · 17/12/2022 02:44

Asda and Morrisons, they are chaotic and poor quality and I detest their store layouts.

Coldsores the worst kind of disease, vile and disgusting. That tingle you get feels revolting.

shinyshoes5566 · 17/12/2022 02:51

At this time of year, seeing 'reindeers' on signs. The plural of reindeer is 'reindeer'. Irrational, I know, but for some reason, extremely irritating.

spinachmonster · 17/12/2022 02:56

That Mister Bluesky song. OMG. 😩 Also everyone else seems to love it? No idea what that's about.

JubJubsMomma · 17/12/2022 03:01

That TinyTim bloke who does prank calls in a child’s voice 🤢(maybe not that irrational tjough)

Send out an all staff email telling people to change their MS Word settings to English (UK). Be that person.

smooththecat · 17/12/2022 03:20

Re grey jogging bottoms. They are standard issue for prisoners in the UK, which may be why so many have negative associations with them.

Underroad · 17/12/2022 03:33

Morrisons. Any branch. I can’t go into a Morrisons without feeling like I need a good scrub in the shower even if it is a really new and clean one.

nail varnish, particularly gel polish. It particularly horrifies me if it’s on long nails (false or natural). If someone’s long gel polished nail accidentally touches me I get a retchy feeling in my throat so that is the worst, but I shudder at all nail varnish (apart from clear - I don’t mind clear) on any sort of nails.

Pears. Their weird rough skin 😫

Tattoos give me a creepy feeling similar to nails.

LOLing at the PP who takes against lilac. I agree. It is the worst colour for some reason, far worse than actual horrible colours like poo brown and earwax orange, and I silently judge anyone wearing it for not realising this fact.

So if you’re picking up pears in Morrisons with your lilac gel nailed fingers and scratching your tattoo, you are my personal hell 😂

Underroad · 17/12/2022 03:37

Oh God, can’t believe I forgot new build estates. Basically any housing estate or road built in the 1980s until now in which the houses are built of that orangey brick (any modern houses do it, but orangey brick is worst). They give me the utter creeps and I start feeling panicky if I have to drive through one or visit a friend who lives on one. They genuinely give me that cold hand of fear reaching over me feeling.

KateBalesCardi · 17/12/2022 03:50

Washing up cutlery. I feel utter rage all the time I'm doing it, no idea why!

fugly1 · 17/12/2022 04:11

People.....when shopping standing so bloody close. It infuriates me!

SofaSurferfinder · 17/12/2022 04:12

Chalk , I just can’t touch the stuff .

when grown adults don’t pronounce their Ts. ,” I fink it makes them sound fick”

When people say the thingy or the wotsit , like I’m meant to know what you’re on about (as above the FINGY) …… “you seen the fingy anywhere”

Holly Willoughby - she seems nice enough , but like it a I’m so fricken perfect and princessy and insincere annoying kinda way.

YellowLoafers · 17/12/2022 04:23

Toilets where the cistern is up high on the wall connected to the toilet bowl with a long pipe and long chain to pull. No idea why I can’t stand them. Luckily you don’t see many these days!

blackpearwhitelilies · 17/12/2022 04:32

I am terrified of viaducts and Victorian railway stations.

PaulaTrilloe · 17/12/2022 04:34

Those Premier Inn purple velour nylon branded bed drape scarf thingy. I always throw it in a corner makes my teeth itch!

MediocreAtBest · 17/12/2022 04:50

@vipersnest1 have you taken a Jimny off road? They're incredibly capable. I've not owned one but have driven many off road alongside the many Land Rovers I've owned and honestly, sometimes the Jimny went places my Discoveries and Defenders couldn't dream of. We went out with a Vauxhall Frontera once - let me tell you what a POS that was - yet the Jimny was the one pulling him out of ditches, through the bogs etc.

TK Maxx and Primark..I only went in one once, never again.
Pigs....ugly looking fuckers.
Sport...any sport, don't watch any or do any.

Autumnisclose · 17/12/2022 04:58

The way my mum says 'acceptable'. She says it with a sss sound 😫. She also can't pronounce Wimbledon properly which is as annoying but rarely said.

Anyone tapping repeatedly or rattling packets, like crisp packets.

Loud music in cars who then pull up outside.

Cyclists holding a conversation whilst cycling down my road at 6am.

People who don't pack as they scan on the self service check out. Instead they pile everything up and then gormlously pull out a bag and start packing.

People who wait until they get to the barrier on the tube before getting out their phone/card to pay.

SantaExpress · 17/12/2022 05:11

The songs ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ and ‘ Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’ I have to get where I can’t hear them … stuck on a loop in my head for weeks😡

Fish… it’s the sliminess, the smell, the staring eyes… have to look away in supermarkets, they make me feel panicky.

Wood in my mouth… lolly sticks, wooden spoons … just no!

Yorkshirelass04 · 17/12/2022 05:21

Malala.

I know she's a hero and everything she just has this smug smile.

MistyRock · 17/12/2022 05:40

MzLucky · 16/12/2022 19:32

The way hotels tuck the quilt into the mattress. Gives me the utter rage for some reason. First thing I do is pull it all out.

Yes, then you pull the quilt out and the sheets all come out with it and the bed is a mess.

MistyRock · 17/12/2022 06:00

I hate cut hair, finding it makes me feel sick. Food crumbs, on the sofa floor etc. My most annoying thing is the French press. I hate setting it up. I hate pushing the pump down and the biggest thing, emptying and washing the fucker up.
