Anyone else have a totally irrational dislike of something?

There is a set of traffic lights/junction near me which I absolutely hate. Nothing bad has ever happened to me there, but i have a loathing for it that I cant explain or understand. Its not a difficult junction either.

I actively go out of my way to avoid it.

Baseball caps.

Morrisons. Specifically the ‘Market Street’ fruit and veg area; can never find what I want. Puts me off the entire store, which is annoying as a lot of their stuff is great.

Grey jogging bottoms. Worn by ex cons, people who have given up on life, people who don't exercise, people who can't get anything else to fit. They look slobby and they are extremely unattractive. Combined with a grey hoodie well, I have no more words.

Closing the up stairs curtains! I always get dh to do it. If hes late home ill go to bed and leave them open
I happily do the blackout blinds behind them, never draw the curtains!

I will do tje downstairs ones though!

Bluevelvetsofa · 16/12/2022 19:49

Tesco and Morrisons, but specifically the one nearby, which is filthy and utterly vile.

A couple of massive roundabouts that give me the rage and the fear.

Cold weather

Crumbs

ShillyShallySherbet · 16/12/2022 19:54

Jelly is not allowed anywhere near me and I can’t stand fingernails touching each other like when people make that heart shape with their hands.

MissPiggysPinkDress · 16/12/2022 20:11

Ant and Dec, can’t bloody stand them

iklboo · 16/12/2022 20:12

Budgies.

wesayno · 16/12/2022 20:13

The hideous whine of Michael Buble.

Brandybucks · 16/12/2022 20:16

Dolls and Barbies. I have no idea why but I hate touching them or even being near them and I was exactly the same from a really young age. In fact my cousin gave me a barbie as a gift when I was small and I think I threw it away from me immediately (I’m embarrassed even remembering this!!) I think it’s something about the plastic they are made from and their hair. Just euuuchh.

@nancydroo it's good that you realise your dislike is irrational, I mean, it can only be good for your mental health to recognise the irrationality involve

Speedweed · 16/12/2022 20:28

Vacuum cleaners. Loathe the fuckers. They ALWAYS fling themselves out of the cupboard when I open it. Heavy, awkward, just set to go in a different direction to where I want them to go. Ugh. I think I pay my cleaner just so I never have to touch mine.

Glad it's not just me - the flasher who terrified me as a teenager was wearing them, and I always feel instant hate for anyone crossing my path who wears them.

The Olympics! You can jump a long way, who gives a fuck

Belly Buttons

Bepis · 16/12/2022 20:35

Thought of another one - boys/men who walk round with their hand down their jogging bottoms where it looks like they are playing with themselves.

vipersnest1 · 16/12/2022 20:40

@Atmywitsend29, another hater of the ridiculous supposed 4x4s that Suzuki created. I owned a Samurai (did the Jimny take over from it?) and it was actually dangerous - the centre of gravity was way too high for that sort of vehicle and I had to crawl round corners to avoid the (genuine) risk of crashing.
@emmetgirl, I've long avoided Asda after witnessing some nigh on fights in the big one that was local to me!
The other things that really grind my gears are cutlery scraping on a plate (makes my teeth actually hurt) and people that are instagram perfect. I work with one (a great example) who is constantly posting about their wonderful life and saying they are interested in events, growing their own veg.... I could go on and on. Meanwhile they police their young children's diets to the point of exclusion of any sugars and have an ED themselves. They also present themselves as the most friendly person, but are completely back-stabbing in the workplace. I really don't understand how hypocritical they can be. Confused

PondintheRain · 16/12/2022 20:41

The Coronation Street theme tune, grey tracksuit bottoms, those decorative pillows on hotel beds, hydrangeas, Jack Vettriano paintings, meringue.

Shutupyoutart · 16/12/2022 20:43

Polystyrene, I can't stand it, have to leave the room if someone is un boxing something packaged in it.

EllieQ · 16/12/2022 20:46

The science-fiction/ fantasy author Brandon Sanderson raising $41 million on Kickstarter to publish new books/ special editions of his existing books. He already had a publishing contract and is one of the most well-known/ bestselling SFF authors, why did he need a Kickstarter as well?!?

A rather niche one, I admit, but it fills me with rage.

WiseUpJanetWeiss · 16/12/2022 20:46

Any trousers that are elasticated at the ankle. It's not a fashion thing because I truly couldn't care less about fashion.
