Anyone else have a totally irrational dislike of something?

There is a set of traffic lights/junction near me which I absolutely hate. Nothing bad has ever happened to me there, but i have a loathing for it that I cant explain or understand. Its not a difficult junction either.

I actively go out of my way to avoid it.

Dry robes. And especially dry robes in silly situations like walking down a high street, watching a rugby match, in a petrol station. Buy a coat 😏

Are you sure it's not the twats who wear them as if they frigging winter coats that you hate?

LowbrowVictoriana · 18/12/2022 13:48

How does wearing something you don't like make someone a "twat", @ichundich ?

Afonavon · 18/12/2022 13:57

Hydrangeas make me shudder. They remind me of old ladies’ hair (blue/pink rinse) and by association old ladies’ wet kisses on my cheeks as a child…shudder.

I also hate duvets tucked in along with the pointless ‘throw’ at the foot of hotel beds. Not a blanket, so what’s the point?

@lieselotte I filled 3 carrier bags at sainsburys the other day with no problem whatsoever

I think the machines work sometimes and other times they don't. I can't be bothered to hang around for a member of staff to come along and help (why don't the machines have a "back" button so you can take the bag off and start again) so I don't try. But I don't faff anyway so nobody is hanging around waiting for me.

Oh, now I get it. I thought it was more like an Oodie

Ben Stiller's hair.
It's not so bad these days, but he always had these bits that overhung the top of his ears. Maybe he was conscious of the size of his ears, and tried to disguise the size of them, but it just looked so untidy/uncomfortable.

awaynboilyurheid · 18/12/2022 14:48

Ben Stillers acting annoyed me more, my god he’s wooden

People who purposefully pose with an open mouth for pictures. I hate it, I find it gross and creepy.

God yes! Harry and Meghan do this. It’s like it’s meant to be ‘we’re having so much fun!’ but it looks both fake and gormless.

Whatisgoingonhere · 18/12/2022 21:34

Anything to do with brushing teeth. Teeth themselves are fine, but as soon as it involves toothpaste, toothbrush, spitting out of toothpaste etc, I want to heave.

Disgusting!!!

The worst is when I’m happily watching a film or series and, out of nowhere, a character is brushing their teeth. And talking! Then spitting out. 🤢🤢

I have little DC and brushing their teeth twice a day is so hard, I hate it! Even touching the toothpaste tube (I have a separate one for me). DH knows not to brush his teeth while I’m in the bathroom, I hate it that much.

Totally irrational!!

Having to tidy up after making a sandwich. Especially if the end of the cucumber has to go in the food waste bin.

Pumping petrol.

DM successfully managed to avoid filling her car with fuel via a succession of teenage children / husbands.

She drives so rarely now that I don't think it's really an issue, but every time I go down she offers me her car and debit card for a spurious journey 😆

IKR, like I don’t want to see the inside of your mouth, get off.

The Beckham, The Ramsay 'bunch' but special jaw clenching rage reserved for famous/mega-rich people who force their talentless, lack of self awareness spawn on the public by shoving their gurning, open mouthed, thumbs up faces into every media appearance they can. TV land is heaving with them.... Please feck off and do some work.

People who smile with their tongue pushed behind their top teeth.

Makes me want to hurt myself.

allthelittlelights · 20/12/2022 02:24

Harry Styles stupid 'genderbending' clothes.

LittleBoPeepHasLostHerShit · 20/12/2022 08:44

The word "oodie" and how much everyone seems to love them.

How else do you smile? 😕

allthelittlelights · 20/12/2022 08:52

😜Maybe like this?

Exhausteddog · 20/12/2022 09:12

There is a house near me that has an extension (I suspect done in the 1970s) that looks like lego and has no window where I think there should be one. Another house has a dormer type shape but no window there. Both of these offend me massively!!

And people eating kit kats without breaking them into sticks first. That should be a crime.

With my tongue in the middle of my mouth - just resting against the roof of my mouth.

The smile I mean has the tongue really pushed against the top teeth so you can see it sticking out around the sides of the teeth.

I have no idea why this pains me so much 🥴
