Anyone else have a totally irrational dislike of something?

There is a set of traffic lights/junction near me which I absolutely hate. Nothing bad has ever happened to me there, but i have a loathing for it that I cant explain or understand. Its not a difficult junction either.

I actively go out of my way to avoid it.

People with underbites - I have to switch channels if Keira Knightly and her gurning underbite appear on TV. Totally irrational but I have the same reaction as when someone scrapes their nails down a blackboard. I could never have married into the Habsburg family 😉

BoingBoing999 · 16/12/2022 21:34

Whispering in adverts..

What's wrong with this? The GM "playing mum"? Or do you think the mum should be pushing her own baby?

Is the GM not being a GM rather than playing mum?

ChristmasBallBall · 16/12/2022 21:35

Any big 'anthem' song where everyone is expected to join in and sing all the words. Like Sweet Caroline, Come On Eileen, Wonderwall, Bohemian Rhapsody... songs like that. As soon as I hear the opening bars I just start to feel bored to tears with how long it's going to take us to get to the end of the goddamn song.

Frogs. Erratic little bastards, you never know what way they are going to jump!

Brian cox

😂similar category as Robert Peston for me. Probably both lovely guys but I can't for the life of me get through 30s of either on tv

ditherydotty · 16/12/2022 21:39

Also hate Asda although I've ordered kids uniforms for there and they are good. The actual shops though I find them really depressing for some reason.

Backtoblack1 · 16/12/2022 21:39

Men wearing vests. Ick.

Backtoblack1 · 16/12/2022 21:41

And that Haribo advert where the adults talk like toddlers . Ffs!

Shortkiwi · 16/12/2022 21:46

Offal
Eastenders esp the theme tune
Phil and Holly- panic to turn off if they come on TV
Polystyrene - already mentioned
People talking too loudly in public
Cold weather
Men in shorts in Winter

kingtamponthefurred · 16/12/2022 21:48

Scatter cushions on beds. What the hell are you supposed to do with them?

underneaththeash · 16/12/2022 21:49

People with tattoos I just don’t like the fact I have to see them and they don’t. (And generally they’re hideous)

TroysMammy · 16/12/2022 21:50

Putting away cutlery
Tinsel
Men with thinning hair and a ponytail
Tony Robinson, Griff Rhys Jones and other make celebrities of that ilk who have annoying voices.
Aftershave adverts promoted by muscular adonises but worn by men who probably wear grey jogging bottoms or look like Onslow from Keeping Up Appearences. See my previous up thread dislike about grey joggers.

Mintleafcocktail · 16/12/2022 21:52

Those stupid bloody captcha tests to prove you aren’t a robot. Are you meant to tick every box which has even the corner of the traffic light in it or only the boxes with the main image in it? No matter which option I go for it’s always bloody wrong and then you get 50 more of boats and cars and ships and planes. I fcking HATE them.

Shortkiwi · 16/12/2022 21:52

Yes @underneaththeash forgot tattoos!

dexterslockedintheshedagain · 16/12/2022 21:53

I cannot stand getting ice-cream out of the tub and into a dish for my husband. I don't know why, but I HATE it.

Sodie · 16/12/2022 21:54

Bags for life. This is very outing because I have been in tears over these when my husband leaves them in the kitchen. Very IRRATIONAL but just thinking about them now turns my stomach.

barbrahunter · 16/12/2022 21:57

Buttons on clothing, especially extra unnecessary ones. It really put me off the music of Prince because of that clothing he used to wear with a million buttons all over it.

ColinRobinsonsfamiliar · 16/12/2022 21:57

2 things.
People(men) who roll up the sleeves of jackets for no good reason.

Bunches of keys attached to belt hooks on jeans/trousers.

Instantly dislike people who do both of these.

Could be the king of England or Brad Pitt, the voice in my head would shout “wanker” really loudly.

Red632 · 16/12/2022 21:58

The scuffing noise of people dragging their feet along the floor in sliders/flipflops to keep them on. Beach or pool, I can deal with it but anywhere else, just put on some shoes that you can actually walk in.

LaPufalina · 16/12/2022 21:58

A car with curtains. I think it's maybe a Toyota previa? Not going to google to check Blush

saltrock123 · 16/12/2022 22:01

Shopping trolleys that refuse to go in a straight line.
Door handles that catch on clothes.
Those plastic ring pull things on bottles of oil or sauce, always break.
Slugs when they invade the kitchen.
E.scooters

Bogablob92 · 16/12/2022 22:08

Lightbulbs. I am happy knowing they are there and doing a wonderful job but I just don’t want to see them.

Wonnle · 16/12/2022 22:11

Sue Perkins
James Corden
Clarkson with or without farm
Glitter , not Gary , the horrible little shiny crappy bits that gets every bloody where

XenoBitch · 16/12/2022 22:12

Queen. I can not stand them at all.
I will go as far as to say my hatred is not irrational as it stems from an abusive ex playing it at all times.
