How delayed is everyone's post or parcel deliveries?
Especially if you live in North Cornwall.
I have been waiting for something that was posted over a week ago, said it was estimated by Monday but I know there have been loads of strikes. I don't want to chase the seller yet as I know it's likely to be a RM issue. If I had spotted at the time they were posting with RM then I probably would have ordered from someone else.
We've had 1 lot of post in the last week which seems insane!

Dreadful where I am. Small business parcel should have been delivered 20th November, RM tracking not available until they have attempted delivery. Local postie (who is great, no complaints about him) off sick and RM have no one to cover his round, so no post for 4 days now. Strikes again soon. I’m not bothering to send Xmas cards now as they probably won’t get delivered.
Another moan, in my local Post Office, there was a queue of approx 5 people. One window open, 2 windows closed with staff behind them. Customer at counter taking ages, then the staff member comes out from behind counter to take her across the shop floor (WHSmiths) to find a Smiths staff member. Queue now up to 10 people. Neither of the other staff open up. No wonder RM is going down the pan.
Rant over!

kernowpicklepie · 08/12/2022 11:57

Oh no, thats even worse than I thought!
I might just contact the seller and see if they have any tracking but I don't think they do.
I'm just hoping it arrives soon as it was for a Christmas present

It's awful. I sell a lot online. Will no longer be using RM and I will not purchase anything with RM delivery.

I understand their right to strike, however I fear it has hugely backfired and Less and less people will use the service.

yoshiblue · 08/12/2022 12:01

I'm waiting for a parcel sent 28/11. Most things have turned up eventually.

Sent two birthday cards two weeks early and they arrived on the day!

You do know that the Post Office and the Royal Mail are two separate companies and have been since 2011? So anything that goes on in a Post Office is in no way connected to RM.

Needadviceagain · 08/12/2022 12:29

I posted 8 parcels on Monday. A mix of signed for and just ordinary post. The last one arrived today. I'm in Devon and the parcels were going to Scotland, London and Bristol.

As has already been pointed out by NoodleNuts about 3 posts before you.
I was not aware they were two different companies. I will change my post to no wonder the post office is going down the pan.

In fairness the split was only 10 years ago, which makes my missing 3 posts earlier quite understandable.

Something arrived today which was posted 2nd class on the 28th. Waiting for a couple of things which were posted on the 25th. An item posted by the 24 hour service on Monday has gone from Edinburgh to Atherstone for some strange reason. I am 30 miles from Edinburgh so not sure why this has happened. Tracking not working on other packages. Evri/Hermes tracking not moved from last Wed. Nightmare for customers and small businesses.

kernowpicklepie · 08/12/2022 13:02

Weird how some areas seem to be much quicker than others at getting through the backlogs.
I've contacted the seller on Etsy to see if there was any tracking so fingers crossed. I really don't know why they were sending through RM at the minute, I would have happily paid extra for another service. Although, I know a lot of others are now struggling due to the extra demand.
What a nightmare!

Our gp still sends dc medical book back in the post each month (with instructions on changes in medication/care) it took 3 weeks to come (usually is two days after Dr's visit). We live 2.5 miles from fp practice. Not your area though.
In contrast I sent some Christmas cards to elderly relatives that live 300 miles away (second class) and they got them 2 days later.

Tinywaffle · 08/12/2022 13:16

Waiting for several things from 20th November onwards. We’ve only had first delivery ( of one parcel!) today in well over a week. No letters. Was chatting to postie and he said it just massive massive piles at the sorting depot and he suspects things posted longest ago are at the bottom.

Royal Mail do not run the Post Offices.
www.postoffice.co.uk/

Royal Mail do the collection, sorting and delivery of letters and parcels.

NippyWoowoo · 08/12/2022 13:27

Can anyone explain to me why they are so shit? They've been privatised, is this what the NHS would look like if it's privatised as well?

I stood 10 minutes in a queue this morning at the delivery office only to be told they just hadn't gotten round to sorting out the post, said they were understaffed and just 🤷🏽‍♀️

I only receive post about once every 2 weeks as well.

Iheartmysmart · 08/12/2022 13:32

I’m still waiting for something posted on 31 October and another posted on 17 November. Tracking hasn’t been updated for either of them since a few days after they were posted. Medication I ordered on line for my dog has completely vanished. Am steering clear of purchasing from any companies who ship via RM now.

Jellycatfox · 08/12/2022 13:32

I support my local postie who is mazing and has been working hard trying to solve the mistakes the new hires are making. However RM has truly f°$°= up things for me. Not only I am missing inhalers for the children but we have lost a lot of money and mental health missing the completion of our house purchase due to the post never arriving. I am sick and stressed and I can't think what else can go wrong

Jellycatfox · 08/12/2022 13:34

However, a Christmas card just arrived. Not really what I need atm

girlmom21 · 08/12/2022 13:37

Mine were a couple of days late but nothing major.

However I did have a 4 hour window for postie to collect a parcel and I'm still waiting

MunchMunch · 08/12/2022 13:54

Yesterday, about 4:30pm I posted a letter to ds1 by "next day guaranteed by 1pm" and it was received today by 9am so I was glad I paid the extra rather than first class etc. DPD on the other hand, still waiting for almost a week later...

123woop · 08/12/2022 13:55

I'll begin by saying our local postwoman is fantastic, but I really think RM has shot themselves in the foot with these strikes. I know a lot of local business owners (both small and large household name companies) who will no longer be using RM and will instead use DPD or Amazon to send out their orders.

We ordered a replacement part for something which was meant to take 3 days and took 10 to arrive! We've also not had any Christmas cards delivered which is very odd as normally we'd have quite a few by now from family who live abroad and around the UK too (they've sent a message saying "your card is in the post!" So it's not like they're NCing us 😂)
However all the junk mail is still getting through to us 🙄 just not the things we actually need or want!

blobby10 · 08/12/2022 13:57

Our postie was told last week not to collect any RM48 or second class post from customers as they wouldn't be sorted. One customer on his round had around 60 bags of RM48 small parcels so he ignored his bosses Grin. We haven't used anything except RMSD since Covid as you just can't guarantee delivery. We are looking at using DPD or APC for the small stuff rather than RMSD in the New Year

TheTeddyBears · 08/12/2022 14:29

Think mine been ok they've been everyday this week I think. Last week and week before hardly anything but they were striking a lot those weeks.

ifonly4 · 08/12/2022 14:30

I've got a tracking number for Royal Mail issued 27 Nov - for 48 hour service. Shop I purchased from have confirmed item should be with me by 1 Dec. Still waiting.

On the other hand I ordered something else on a 48 hour and it arrived well within 48 hours.
