How delayed is everyone's post or parcel deliveries?
Especially if you live in North Cornwall.
I have been waiting for something that was posted over a week ago, said it was estimated by Monday but I know there have been loads of strikes. I don't want to chase the seller yet as I know it's likely to be a RM issue. If I had spotted at the time they were posting with RM then I probably would have ordered from someone else.
We've had 1 lot of post in the last week which seems insane!

So, CWU and Royal Mail Union have agreed to cancel the strikes 23rd/24th December and get back round the table and have a period of calm until 16th January, hopefully a resolution can be reached.

Is this true? No strikes on 23rd and 24th?

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 20/12/2022 15:43

Even if they do/did cancel the strikes on 23rd & 24th, it's too late now. Delivering mail is a process - especially in the run-up to Christmas - and you can't just stop the machine and suddenly start it up again without issue. Besides, people have already made alternative arrangements/not bothered trying.

angharadsgoat · 20/12/2022 15:49

I was just hoping two extra days might give my parcel time to turn up. I don't suppose it will and I've ordered something else from Amazon to make up for it.

caringcarer · 20/12/2022 15:50

This morning I got Xmas card posted first class 13 days ago by my MiL. I ordered some latte glasses end of November and still waiting for them. App shows dispatched Dec 3rd, received in centre Dec 5th, not yet delivered.

caringcarer · 20/12/2022 15:51

Postman will not be receiving a Xmas tip this year.

MintyPrincess · 20/12/2022 15:54

Had a couple of recently ordered things on time but today I received something that I've been waiting 3 weeks for.Weird.

Sartre · 20/12/2022 16:04

I sent Moonpig cards to family at the start of December. One confirmed it arrived last week Friday, one said it arrived today and the others haven’t said anything so I can only hope they have turned up.

I’ve actively avoided anyone using RM for Christmas presents since early November so all presents have arrived fine.

user175438765 · 20/12/2022 16:06

I bought a present in October from M&S to post to someone, I ended up returning it and got something direct from Amazon to them instead

Bluevelvetsofa · 20/12/2022 16:13

We’re getting roughly one postal delivery a week. We had post today, including a small parcel that had been stuck in a distribution centre for a week. The postie said they’d been told to prioritise parcels, but what about important letters that have to be sent by post. He said that he alternates the cages with letters, so they’re not all ignored.

FriedEggChocolate · 20/12/2022 16:16

Parcel was despatchd on 13th Dec with a 48hour turnaround. Tracked as being with Royal Mail on 15th but nothing since then. We have 2 kids we wanted to give the same type of gift too. Gift for older DC we already have but the shop didn't have the size for smaller DC; therefore gift for the younger DC is the one with the royal mail. Counting down the days.

As we sent a parcel containing a Christmas gift, tracked, on 3rd Dec with a 3 day turnaround, which still hasn't arrived, I think we may have to rethink Christmas gifts this year. Sigh.

Zippedydoo123 · 20/12/2022 16:18

I get post maximum twice a week. Shambles.

not4profit · 20/12/2022 17:28

Nothing at all received here in December. Still no birthday cards for a birthday two weeks ago. I'm getting more outraged by the day.

Sorry no, CWU refused to speak.

NinjaWarriorCooker · 20/12/2022 17:42

caringcarer · 20/12/2022 15:51

Postman will not be receiving a Xmas tip this year.

Why blame the postman who is fighting to retain a decent job and pay?

Why not blame the CWU and Simon
Thompson who refuse to even speak?

speakout · 20/12/2022 18:48

I think the postal workers have been sold up the river by the CWU.

These strikes have not strengthened the position of the workers, simply caused a lot of public hostility.
Many small businesses have lost a lot of money at what should be their busiest time.
There may be further strikes in January, but no one will care.
Using strikes as a bargaining tool has not worked, hit the pay packets of Royal Mail workers and small businesses.

For example 83% of people who sell on Etsy are women.
Small businesses often run from home- I imagine a lot in caring capacities, trying to make ends meet.
I am in that bracket- the strike has cost me £3000 in lost revenue.

angharadsgoat · 21/12/2022 13:21

The long awaited for parcel hasn't arrived, but an insignificant and unimportant small packet ordered three days ago (not needed for Christmas and not expected until Jan) has arrived 😀

Never mind. Fingers crossed for tomorrow as it looks like the strikes are still in place on 23rd and 24th after all. A pp gave me fleeting hope!

thereisonlyoneofme · 21/12/2022 14:01

Ive just had a postal delivery first one in nearly 2weeks, It was a charity appeal. Where are my Christmas cards !

kernowpicklepie · 21/12/2022 16:12

I have finally started getting post this week. Had letters yesterday and today. Was 3 weeks without any Mail just a couple of parcels

FriedEggChocolate · 22/12/2022 12:37

My overdue parcel was waiting when I got home yesterday. Looking on the tracking page, it moved to a different deliver ycentre at 1.25 yesterday morning. Cards have taken over a week to arrive, so family cards are only arriving today.

KnittedCardi · 22/12/2022 14:45

Still no more cards for me 😥

speakout · 22/12/2022 16:10

I am waiting for cards too, ones I sent and ones I was expecting.
I have also sent a couple of gifts with Evri- 6 days and still shoping as " collected by courier" no movement.

speakout · 22/12/2022 16:11

And that's it until after christmas.
No more RM deliveries till next week.
