How delayed is everyone's post or parcel deliveries?
Especially if you live in North Cornwall.
I have been waiting for something that was posted over a week ago, said it was estimated by Monday but I know there have been loads of strikes. I don't want to chase the seller yet as I know it's likely to be a RM issue. If I had spotted at the time they were posting with RM then I probably would have ordered from someone else.
We've had 1 lot of post in the last week which seems insane!

I've had more parcels sent with Royal Mail then received, but sellers said not to worry as RM is prioritising tracked parcels! Not true in my experience I'm afraid.

Hmm. My 24 hour tracked parcel from Friday 2nd Dec is still not here and today was the latest day/deadline I needed it for. I wish they'd used another courier. I certainly paid extra for that.

jicora · 10/12/2022 10:41

Im also using Amazon and places using Evri. We're also lucky in having a decent evri delivery here.

StrongTea · 10/12/2022 10:52

2 small packages from 26th November arrived today, 1 x 1st class 1x 2nd class. Evri parcel not shifted from 27th November.

sunflower9876 · 12/12/2022 21:03

Can anyone comment on how quickly letters (as opposed to parcels) are taking. OH posted an important, relatively urgent document 1st class signed for delivery today and we're angsting how long it might take. Many thanks.

Itchintobestitchin · 12/12/2022 21:45

@sunflower9876 It's ages since I've received a letter posted from within the UK, but today I got one from Germany that was postmarked 7th December. That's slightly faster than the average delivery time over the past year so ordinary mail is definitely moving through the system.

sunflower9876 · 12/12/2022 21:47

Thank you @Itchintobestitchin. That's reassuring to know.

airwrapped · 12/12/2022 23:57

@jicora any sign of your parcels yet? I have 2 48h packages sent on 25th nov I'm still waiting for and beginning to lose all hope. One needed for next week

Tinywaffle · 13/12/2022 07:12

@airwrapped - I am still waiting for 2 48 hour parcels posted on the 24th November with no sign. For my son’s birthday on Sunday. Im
housebound so can’t even get out to replace ( and can’t afford). Kind of losing hope of them ever turning up now tbh. Aren’t really getting any deliveries even on non strike days.

lljkk · 13/12/2022 08:25

I won't use Evri because of (long story below). If not Royal Mail & not Evri, who is next cheapest for 30x20x8 parcels < 1 kg? ParcelMonkey is saying £5 for Yodel. Versus £3.35 for RM. It's a big difference on an item that sells for £4 like most mine do, irk.

Long story
Last year I sent something with Evri.
Buyer messaged me
after a week to say the parcel was at a depot miles from their home & what was I going to do about that.
After delivery was attempted the parcel went back to a Spar shop 10 minutes walk from buyer's home.
I could see all that from tracking
I gave Buyer the shop details where parcel was which she didn't reply to.
I was abroad, days later Buyer says the parcel still not delivered (no kidding)
I phoned the shop as soon as I got back in UK.
Shop said they only held parcels for 10 days & then "sent them back"
It was > 10 days after delivery attempt by then
I sent a million messages to Evri which were never answered
I never got parcel back.

piedbeauty · 13/12/2022 08:34

It's terrible. We're having one delivery of parcels once a week. Haven't had any letters for over a week.

paintitallover · 13/12/2022 08:40

@noideabutstilltrying That's awful. Those are almost the worst terms and conditions possible. They'll never keep staff in those circumstances. Are they expecting people to buy their own post vans? And no sick pay, even for serious health issues, is appalling. People should support them, as it'll be your family next.

kernowpicklepie · 13/12/2022 08:56

I haven't had any letters for 2 weeks now. 1 postal delivery last week which was a parcel I was waiting for but no actual letters.
We're on a prepayment meter for our electric (renting so can't change it) and we get those vouchers from the government for the electric help, usually on the 11th working day of the month but I don't reckon we'll get it this week so no idea when that will arrive. It's been nice having those cause we haven't needed to worry about putting electric on the meter for the second half of the month/beginning of the next so we'll have to do a big top up ourselves if it doesn't arrive, not the end of the world but a bit annoying

Still no post here since at least 2/12. My poor boy has had one birthday card through the post, that was in a small batch of post I collected from the sorting office last weekend. There are mountains of unsorted mail in the sorting office and his birthday cards are amongst it. I don't know what the answer is but I will not forget this in a hurry.

LIZS · 13/12/2022 10:41

I've now got everything crossed my parcels make it to recipients, posted first class yesterday morning. No delivery here since last week but I have a parcel due today.

LIZS · 13/12/2022 12:10

Cards posted first class Thursday arrived yesterday.

kernowpicklepie · 13/12/2022 16:50

Received another parcel today, was posted on the 8th according to the stamp but still no letters.

My parcel due to arrive 23rd November is still on the way. Tracking just says delayed due to Royal Mail industrial action. A cake decoration template - so in an envelope not a parcel - was due to arrive 5th December. Given a choice next time I will not order if Royal Mail are the carriers.

LIZS · 16/12/2022 12:24

Second class parcel posted on 6th just arrived

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 20/12/2022 11:22

how can you say a company that made over £700 million profit last year has been on it's arse for years.

They also always claim to be haemorrhaging £1m a day, so somebody is definitely 'confused' or deliberately telling massive porkies.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 20/12/2022 11:42

I don't know what the answer is but I will not forget this in a hurry.

Yes, this all the way. Even if people bear no ill-will at all - or even fully support the strikes 100% - once you have it in your head that 'RM = CBA/very unreliable', it can stay in your consciousness for a very long time.

Look at Skoda, by way of analogy: they've been right at/near the top of the reliability lists for car manufacturers for years now; but because they were the byword for UNreliability a few decades ago, there are still people who would never buy a Skoda and mock those who do, just because they were (not unfairly) scorned as rubbish in the 70s and 80s.

KnittedCardi · 20/12/2022 11:54

I've posted parcels out by signed for first class, and they got there the next day, either ends of the country. However, my local town, and postal depot, Guildford, is apparently the worst in the country, even before the strikes. We haven't had daily mail for years, and over the last two weeks I have only had one delivery of letters/cards...... really sad, as I love receiving Xmas cards.

All my other ordered stuff has come via couriers. Seems most companies have abandoned Royal Mail. It could be the end of them.

ifonly4 · 20/12/2022 12:02

A 48 hour tracked parcel sent on 27/11 took 20 days to get here. Ordinary post has taken a maximum of eight days (other people who had cards sent at same time as ours got theirs on day 4 and day 7).

NinjaWarriorCooker · 20/12/2022 15:06

So, CWU and Royal Mail Union have agreed to cancel the strikes 23rd/24th December and get back round the table and have a period of calm until 16th January, hopefully a resolution can be reached.

Tiredandtested2 · 20/12/2022 15:24

My order was dispatched 21st November, Royal Mail tracking number still says it has been despatched from the sender but nothing else. I was feeling hopeful after reading some of the other posters saying they had received their mail but that’s running out now. It was some things for my DD (10) for Xmas (think something niche like merch) I bought them when they first came in to stock because they sell out fast & they’d be here for Christmas & it’s something she really loves. It’s just lucky that she didn’t know about it but it was her main present & I'm now having to spend more than I can afford to make it look like she has the same as her brothers, she’s the only one who still gets excited at Christmas & this years been a bit crap for her. We’ve just found out she has celiac (not the end of the world I know) but she missed her school Xmas dinner & had to sit through a school party & watch everyone eating buns, cakes & biscuits & couldn’t have anything, even though her teacher knew well in advance & id have been happy to buy the gf stuff myself, she was really devastated. I just hope I can get my money back but I couldn’t reorder because they’re out of stock now.

Sorry this may be wrong, CWU have tweeted that RM are not prepared to talk.
