It's 3am, why are you awake?

I was snoozing soundly when DS (5) came into my room coughing, sniffling and asking for a drink so I guess he's coming down with something. He's snoring beside me now but I'm wide awake.

So, why are the rest of you all up? Star

Insomnia - 3am is being too frequent a habit! I combat it by trying to go to bed early. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. Either way I am content just to enjoy the peace and quiet at this time. I’ve got an interview today so the restlessness is at least a bit more understandable due to nerves!

I have that appalling cold/flu thing and keep waking myself up coughing. I’m thoroughly fed up with it. But I have cats to hug!

Headoutofplace · 08/12/2022 03:09

I have COVID, shattered but can't rest or sleep, feel like I'm going out of my mind at the min

Whatmarbles · 08/12/2022 03:10

Night waking is common for me.
And tiresome, so bloody tiresome trying to get back to sleep.
I blame the menopause.

Givenhud · 08/12/2022 03:11

I constantly wake up with a blocked nose. Tried all sorts of medication but nothing works. Saving up to get the carpet removed and replaced with wood flooring to see if that helps.

I don't meet the threshold for an ENT referral apparently.

Changingplace · 08/12/2022 03:12

I’m not entirely sure, I keep waking up at 3am ish and it’s driving me mad :(

oldtableleg · 08/12/2022 03:13

covid - sore throat woke me up :(

Frostythesnowmansnose · 08/12/2022 03:14

Insomnia 😴

LoveItaly · 08/12/2022 03:14

Painting my kitchen, so much easier when everyone else is in bed!

lap90 · 08/12/2022 03:14

Not unusual for me to wake at these hours especially when stressed.

MarianneVos · 08/12/2022 03:15

A baby who won't sleep. Second go of the feed, hold, attempt putting down cycle. Fingers crossed it works this time as I'm doing freelance work from 9am!

garlictwist · 08/12/2022 03:15

I fell asleep reading really early and am now wise awake and ready for the day. Think I'm going to just get up soon.

liveforsummer · 08/12/2022 03:16

I used to wake at this time all the time but it had stopped. The last few days it's started again. Stupidly picked up my phone which has probably made the problem worse 😆

Notcontent · 08/12/2022 03:16

I was working (at home but had something urgent to get done).

20viona · 08/12/2022 03:16

3 year old coughing, 3 month old grunting, husband snoring!

moleeye · 08/12/2022 03:17

Always waking up at this time.

Tonight my 3.5 year old is in my bed as he's poorly and needs cuddles. My 8 year old has come in as well as she had a nightmare.

I'm hoping to fall back to sleep before I need to get up at 5.30....

Hillrunning · 08/12/2022 03:17

Normally I'm a great sleeper. Tonight I am up worrying about work. Which is ridiculous as I have a very easy job but my manager doesn't really believe in disabilities so getting reasonable adjustments agreed is a current battle. Not sure if I should try to sleep, stay awake or wake up DH for company and reassurance

Dh snoring woke me, I moved to the spare bed but I'm cold. And wide awake.

Hillrunning · 08/12/2022 03:18

For all of you who are poorly or dealing with a poorly child, hope you feel better soon.

lovemelovemesaythatyouloveme · 08/12/2022 03:20

My mini one (3) is on third day and night of what I'm hoping is a viral infection. (GP tomorrow) so is up and down all night. Oh and my husband is snoring!

Oh my, hope your dedication is appreciated and paid back somehow.

amylou8 · 08/12/2022 03:21

I have to be up at 4, so my brain decided to wake up at 3 so I'd have an hour to mumsnet 🤣

SchrodingersKettle · 08/12/2022 03:22

Woke up with sore throat and can't sleep for coughing. Argh .

May we have photos? What colour? Painting at 3 am is not something my brain can comprehend!
