It's 3am, why are you awake?

I was snoozing soundly when DS (5) came into my room coughing, sniffling and asking for a drink so I guess he's coming down with something. He's snoring beside me now but I'm wide awake.

So, why are the rest of you all up? Star

He'd been out with his friends drinking and then it took him a while to walk home as he couldn't remember our phone numbers, so he's crashed out asleep. Think it might hit him again tomorrow when he's sober.

It will take him some time to process it. When I was mugged at knifepoint it was a slow mental recovery process. He will need to talk about it.

My son hasn't come home from being out. It's his birthday today. 18. I've messaged a few of this friends, he's not with them. Phone going to voicemail. I've driven by the club he was at and there is no-one outside. What do I do?

Could he have gone home with a woman?

I hope he's ok but I guess my post really hasn't helped you tonight. It's so worrying when our kids are out at night. DS has been out many times and come back a little worse for wear so he was just really unlucky tonight.
Hope you get some news soon x

Thinking of everyone who's up due to a loss or bad experiences.

Sorry to hear that @bettytaghetti! As a parent, I don't think we ever stop worrying about our children and I'm sure it's one of your fears played out. I hope he lets you hug him tight and look after him for a bit.

I'm up as my DD is still ill after all. She was bouncing off of the walls Thursday afternoon after a week of illness and sent her back to school yesterday but it seems using all of her energy has done her in. She woke up screaming about everything under the sun and feeling sick but I've missed having the one on one time with her so I don't mind her moaning about her too hot then too cold pillow or wanting to be cuddled to sleep.

I've been up feeding the youngest on and off during the night and I've resigned myself to the fact I might be up until they wake up as I have one asleep on me and the other one next to me.

Currently writing lists of things I want to do around the house to get it ship shape for Christmas and ILS visiting.

I woke to go to the loo. I now fancy food!

noanswernoanswer · 10/12/2022 04:55

Thanks @bettytaghetti and I'm sorry to hear about your son. That is an awful thing to happen, and to do to someone.

4 years almost to the hour since my dad died . Woke up a couple of hours ago and just lying here remembering him and having a small cry. I'm away for work so on my own in a premier inn .

He was such a lovely man with a huge personality. Pancreatic cancer got him and it was only 68 days between diagnosis and dying . 61 is no age at all

I’m so so sorry. 61 is so young.

My 12 day old son is feeding and not sleeping. He's been fed 3 times since midnight and we've not had any sleep yet. The nights kill me and also fill me with dread

Chocolateismyfavourite · 10/12/2022 05:05

Combination of chemo induced insomnia, bliming cough and having to get up now as my 11 year old son has been selected to run for the county so we are off to catch a coach at silly o clock to Oxford.

Could he have gone home with a woman?

By this I meant, could he have got overexcited as it was his birthday? So acted out of character?

noanswernoanswer · 10/12/2022 05:10

No, I really don't think so

Any news yet?

Bagpuss2022 · 10/12/2022 05:53

Need to make a big decision regards wether I go ahead with and support a police investigation it’s a messy long historical case and it’s been triggering my MH poured myself a large brandy and hoping someone wakes soon

TooManyBuns · 10/12/2022 06:17

Ours is cutting teeth and has decided she hates sleeping. Possibly just a sleep regression but definitely getting the feeling she just hates sleep. She is learning the fine art of stalling before bed. A necessary right of passage for every toddler.

noanswernoanswer · 10/12/2022 06:42

No, nothing

I'm sure you're so worried he's not back yet. I did something similar at 20, my phone battery died, transport was awful and eventually returned at 8am. My mother was besides herself.

Could you find out if he left before his friends and was he alone or whether they left him? Also maybe think about how he might have got home and go via that route?

noanswernoanswer · 10/12/2022 08:10

He's home now, about 40 mins ago.

Thanks all.

That's great news, hope you all have a more restful weekend now x

Dontsparethehorses · 12/12/2022 04:35

I’m pleased he’s back but what a night for you. I’ve just given up on sleep after 3.30 wake up. One more full week of school- we still keep going for 3 days following week though…

Cinderellla · 12/12/2022 04:42

Just regular old insomnia for me, 3 hours sleep in total tonight 😭

Probably doesn’t help that I work night shifts though.

pompomdaisy · 12/12/2022 04:55

Husband has a job interview but has adhd and has gone into hyper mode preparing! He's up now so I woke. Daughter coughing so think she's getting the lurgy. Urghh!

Beanbagtrap · 12/12/2022 05:13

Ive been up since 4 with a cracking headache and fever. DS came into our bed and promptly pushed me out so I've come downstairs to get some space. Wondering how on earth I'm going to get DC to school today though. I usually walk if the weather is icy as I live on a hill that's not gritted so I'm scared of the car just spinning down the hill, but I have a fever so trudging across fields with DS on my shoulders and a whingey DD for 30 mins (and back again) is not appealing!

SquigglePigs · 12/12/2022 05:30

My four year old is coughing her head off so trying to get her to sleep sat up leaning against me on the sofa because she coughs so much lay down.
