Looking for advice on this benefit.
I applied for this just over 2 months ago, I sent 3 forms of proof of illness and had a video call appointment to confirm identity.
I called social security Scotland to check my process of claim and they say it’s awaiting a case manager.
Does anyone know how long I’ll be waiting for a decision?
Seems a very long, drawn out process.

@Lovelyjubbbly do you think I will have decision soon? Really nervous for decision as I’ve been waiting for 24 weeks , and if rejected I will have to wait longer .

Lovelyjubbbly · 08/08/2023 19:41

@Mumabear239 I got rejected after 6 and half months currently going through the process to ask them to look at it again they have until the 29th of this month to make a new decision but I can see me going through the appeal process. Everyone is different

Mumabear239 · 10/08/2023 10:04

Morning all , well I am still waiting for a manager to approve the decision my case manager made on Tuesday . The waiting is so draining . Anyone had any good news ? Xxx

No news for me yet been 28 weeks since I applied and apart from a few web chats which had provided conflicting information I have not heard a peek.

First contact with web chat at week 16 to check if they had received my application as I had received no conformation I was told it was with a decision maker.
Second contact with web chat at week 20 for an update it was with a case manager.
Third contact with web chat at week 24 it was with the decision team and someone called Brian was hoping to look at it next week.

I am assuming that it has been lying in an internet pile for the last 28 weeks and no one has actually looked at it
I just do not understand why the people on web chat do not just say they have a back logged and it is waiting to be looked at.
I am resisting the urge to contact web chat again as it will probably just confuse me further.

Mumabear239 · 10/08/2023 20:46

It’s so frustrating @Allyballybee445 . I won’t be contacting web chat again I will be calling instead. Mines has had a decision since Tuesday and apparently waiting for a manager to approve the decision.

Update ** my award letter has been sent out but they couldn’t tell me if I was awarded or not , he just said your award letter was sent today please allow 7-10 working days to receive . Has people received payment before letter or after?

Mollylolly · 11/08/2023 19:32

Mumabear239

I received payment before the award letter . I was told a letter was sent so like you I was very anxious not knowing. 2 days later I received back pay into my bank then 2 days after that I received the letter.

Mumabear239 · 11/08/2023 20:34

He didn’t say when the decision was made he just said my award letter has been sent and allow 7 days from today. So by saying award letter is this an indication I have an award or is it standard to say award letter ? Think it’s unfair they can’t tell you decision over chat or phone . @Mollylolly .

Mollylolly · 11/08/2023 21:38

Mumabear239

I was just told a decision letter was sent on live chat but he didn't say award letter to me , so that could be a good sign for you.
I really hope it's good news for you xx

Mumabear239 · 11/08/2023 21:49

I hope so @Mollylolly if not I am going to put in for a redetermination xxx

Mollylolly · 11/08/2023 21:50

Mumabear239

Let us know how you get on xx

Lisalisaandcultjam · 11/08/2023 21:53

@Mumabear239 if you are due a payment, it usually goes in around 4 or 5 working days after the letter is sent, so if you have been awarded it will likely be mid to late next week.
The award letter for me came a few days after that,x

coreas · 11/08/2023 21:56

The letter is a 'notice of determination' so it's strange they would call it an award letter.

coreas · 12/08/2023 11:36

Sorry I wasn't doubting they said it I just think it's strange they have already gone into 'call it something it isn't' territory already. It's only been a year or so since applications opened and already they are changing terminology.

I really hope that means a positive award.

Mumabear239 · 12/08/2023 12:54

No @coreas i just wanting to show what he said lol am a little confused myself y he said award I have my fingers crossed it’s a good sign 👍xxx

Mumabear239 · 18/08/2023 10:33

Hi all @Lovelyjubbbly @Mollylolly @coreas received good news today . They’re a payment in bank from ADP so looks like I have been awarded . So happy it’s done . Xxx

Mollylolly · 18/08/2023 10:47

Mumabear239

That's fantastic news. So pleased for you. X

Great news so glad your wait is finally over,

After a few weeks of resisting the web chat I gave in yesterday and was told the case manager needed some information and would call me today at 10am
still awaiting the call I am trying to keep my mind busy as I can feel my anxiety levels rising.

It is now 31 weeks since I applied the wait times are shocking so much for doing things differently and treating people with dignity and respect,

MamaClause · 31/08/2023 14:52

hi, i applied at the end of April and my application has been with the case managers since the 11th, so almost 3 weeks. it hasnt actually been looked at yet, but they dont think my GP will need to be contacted because i managed to send in quite a lot of supporting information, which is good i suppose. has anyone any idea a ballpark idea of how long the case managers usually take to make a decision?

thanks :)

Lovelyjubbbly · 31/08/2023 16:43

@MamaClause I also sent in lots of supporting information and I mean lots and lots thinking it would give them an easier way to make decisions still contacted my gp to confirm everything that I said.

Lovelyjubbbly · 31/08/2023 16:45

I’m currently waiting on my letter it was sent out this morning for my re determination took the full 8 weeks.

perviously got 0 point on everything shocking!! Lovely man who made the decision called me yesterday to confirm it was sent out today fingers crossed but I find it very highly doubtful and probably need to go through tribunal process!

Allyballybee445 · 31/08/2023 20:47

@Lovelyjubbbly
I hope you get good news and do not need to go to appeal
@MamaClause
Time frames can be different for everyone hopefully your wait will be over soon

I finally got my phone call just after one they just wanted to check why I had not seen a doctor for 8 years things are not looking good for me but I can understand why they would be sceptical of someone saying they were ill who had not seen a doctor for that length of time.

I am hoping they do a consultation so I can explain the situation and not just deny me based on not going to the doctor its not easy suffering in silence and its even harder trying to explain why.

Lovelyjubbbly · 03/09/2023 14:53

Is anyone still on this my redetermination letter was sent out on 31st August I calle d up on Friday for them to confirm. The man confirmed the ‘award letter’ was sent out. I’m not hopeful as i recieved 0 point on everything the first time round has anyone positive stories?
