Looking for advice on this benefit.
I applied for this just over 2 months ago, I sent 3 forms of proof of illness and had a video call appointment to confirm identity.
I called social security Scotland to check my process of claim and they say it’s awaiting a case manager.
Does anyone know how long I’ll be waiting for a decision?
Seems a very long, drawn out process.

I sent the forms away in November last year. I had a phone call earlier in the week from my case manager asking me to get my medical records from the GP and upload them so did that. Then today I got a letter saying that they'd made their decision and I wasn't getting it... kinda odd but hey ho, to the appeal process we go 😒🙄

Mollylolly · 05/07/2023 18:09

Hi there I applied for this in February and had a Web chat today and was advised a letter was sent out on the 1st July. The person on the chat wouldn't tell me the decision but what I gather from reading posts on Facebook is that you always get a payment before receiving the letter. So I take it I have not been successful. Can anyone advise please?

flowerpot258 · 05/07/2023 21:25

@Mollylolly - not necessarily. I got my letter first about 3 or 4 days before I got a payment.

Thank you .

@Seryse hey! I had to appeal also because mine was for mental health and the questions on the application only really focus on physical health. I had a further phone call for my appeal and I was able to explain my situation better then I got accepted. 80% of cases are refused the first time round due to the question aspect.

@Mollylolly hi! I constantly called to get an update on my application and they aren’t allowed to tell you the decision over the phone. It really depends how long it takes for the letter to be posted, not everyone gets payment first

i am more convinced now that am going to be refused mines also is mental health but also severe cervical spinal stenosis and require spine fusion surgery but on chat other day and they said case manager asks GP for information even though I supplied my whole medical record , really stressing about having to wait again for appeal, been with case manager for 3 weeks now .

Lovelyjubbbly · 06/07/2023 14:03

6 and half months I waited. Was refused 0 points on everything currently going through the process of asking them to look at it again they have 8 weeks then it will be the appeal process. Mines was for stage 4 endometriosis. And scar endometriosis it was the NHS fault due to sewing tissue in to my c section scar by trainee . Can’t walk heavy bleed 3 weeks out of 4 . Also endometriosis spread to bowels completely damaged nerves in my hips and back. @Mumabear239 @Mumtotwoxo

It took 9 months for me to get a response, to find I'd missed out by 1 point. Found it to be a shockingly inefficient service. I will reapply but the whole process was so off-putting that I was just glad to still be around after it all and not suffering from a life limiting condition.

That's so reassuring to hear, thank you. I've been sitting in my little panic bubble for a few days over it now 😅

Is anyone n still on this! Looking for some information I got refused ADP 0 point currently going through the redetermination stage . Also how long does it take dies it till the full 8 weeks for them to look at it and did any one have good luck with it thanks .

Lovelyjubbbly · 15/07/2023 18:26

@Mumtotwoxo

Mumtotwoxo · 15/07/2023 21:53

@Lovelyjubbbly im still here! I got 0 points due to the questions being mainly based on physical health and mine is mental health. I got declined middle of January and requested a re determination as soon as I got the letter, 3 weeks later I had a thorough phone interview with a new case manager and explained in further detail my situation, I was accepted and received first payment first week in march! Hope this helps x

@Mumtotwoxo thanks . I don’t understand fully why they give people 0 points it’s ridiculous I waited 6 and half months and seem like I’m going to have to go through appeal process

Mollylolly · 16/07/2023 14:24

Sorry you got refused it's so frustrating and stressful. I got refused pip but tried with ADP a 2 years later and luckily received award last week. I waited 5 months . If you decide to do a reconsideration ask the citizens advice to help you and especially if it goes to tribunal. They are really good .

Lovelyjubbbly · 16/07/2023 18:00

@Mollylolly i tried pip to and got refused. So waited for adp unfortunately still the same. I have endometriosis. Also a cyst 20cm big . Endometriosis has spread to my hips back and bowel that’s not able to be curable . It’s ridiculous 🙄

Mollylolly · 16/07/2023 18:42

Lovelyjubbbly

I really hope you win the appeal 🙏

Mumabear239 · 31/07/2023 11:02

Morning all , has anyone had any good news regarding their application? I just got an update and apparently my case manager has asked for a case discussion. Said this is common has anyone had the same information?

Seryse · 31/07/2023 12:18

Just reviewed acknowledgment of my redetermination form being recieved (originally applied in November last year for ADP, got the letter saying it wasn't awarded a few weeks back and sent the redetermination form straight back). "Within 8 weeks" is what they are saying for a decision this time.... not holding my breath, but I've waited this long so another few weeks ... well meh.

Mollylolly · 31/07/2023 18:53

I had some good news - I was awarded ADP . I applied in February but requested the form last November so it was backdated to then . I received my award letter 2 weeks ago . The backdated money was in my bank before the letter arrived. I never had to have a assessment or speak with anyone they went off all my evidence I had sent . They also contacted my GP which I think was the part that helped me the most .
I had applied for PIP a few years ago and was denied and found the whole thing so stressful. This process was completely different for me thank goodness they actually listened this time .

Lovelyjubbbly · 31/07/2023 22:14

@Seryse Hi . I applied December 2022. Got refused and asked for a redetermination straight away they have until the 28th August to make a new decision. I was awarded 0 points so im not to convinced probably have to appeal. I was reassured i will have a new decision for that date in August I hope this helps

It really is a horrific system, as people have said earlier in the thread, a lot of the questions are based on physical elements, which is to do with my condition too, but the mental aspect of it and other mental health conditions needs to be integrated into the questions and decisions. Sm

Michael1969 · 01/08/2023 11:37

I've just been contacted this morning by them as my claim has now been in for 8 months.
Now they're wanting more info so I don't expect this claim to be done anytime soon tbh and it's beginning to stress me out .
2 questions need further info and it's with a decision maker now so it all tests on what I tell them over the phone as to whether I get it or not 🤦🏼‍♂️

Mumabear239 · 08/08/2023 14:49

Hi all , I contacted today and case manager has made a decision and is waiting approval from a manager ? Does this mean am refused ?

Lovelyjubbbly · 08/08/2023 17:56

@Mumabear239 no it just means it’s getting looked over from a manager to make sure it’s the right decision.
