Looking for advice on this benefit.
I applied for this just over 2 months ago, I sent 3 forms of proof of illness and had a video call appointment to confirm identity.
I called social security Scotland to check my process of claim and they say it’s awaiting a case manager.
Does anyone know how long I’ll be waiting for a decision?
Seems a very long, drawn out process.

I'm still waiting too.

Stickytoastandhoney · 29/12/2022 15:15

Mine took 8 weeks. I found the whole process much easier than PIP and the assessor I spoke to was so much kinder. Please bear in mind as a new benefit, thousands have applied so decisions will take longer. It will be back dated 😊

Lessstressedhemum · 29/12/2022 16:22

Mine took about 10 weeks. It is a far kinder, easier process than applying for PIP.

Is this a replacement for pip? Just wondering is Ds will be moving from dla to pip in a few years

If you live in Scotland, yes

I don’t

I don’t

As far as I'm aware you'll be "requested" to apply for PIP when your child reaches 18. I don't believe Westminster/DWP has any plans to change the process

Hoping things change for the better for you

@Lisalisaandcultjam how long have you been waiting if you don’t mind me asking? X

@Stickytoastandhoney where you transferring from pip? Mine is a new claim for mental health but I have gave 3 letters from professionals and it was handed to someone for a decision about a month ago

@Lisalisaandcultjam how long have you been waiting if you don’t mind me asking? X

I first applied mid September and completed part 2 in October. I went in a web chat today and they said it was waiting to be passed to a decision maker. They said they had a huge backlog.

Mumtotwoxo · 29/12/2022 22:43

@Lisalisaandcultjam i applied around then also
if you don’t mind me asking is yours for mental health? I already had my webchat to prove ID last month and I’m still waiting on decision due to back log! X

Yes, mine is mental health related too. Hopefully they get to us soon,x

Thatboymum · 29/12/2022 23:40

I waited 16 weeks all in and was awarded both the highest rate with minimal evidence sent in they contacted my gp and he shared all info with them from my consultant etc and made decision based on that, they did say it took longer as I hadn’t provided any evidence and they had to get it themselves, the process was great tho i can’t complain between application and award letter the only communication they had was to confirm identity it was not intrusive or hard at all in comparison to pip

Mumtotwoxo · 29/12/2022 23:54

@Thatboymum thanks for reply!! Was yours a transfer from pip? Also if you don’t mind me asking was it mental health?

OP posts:
Thatboymum · 30/12/2022 00:37

@Mumtotwoxo no it wasn’t a transfer from pip I deliberately held off applying until this benefit came live as I had read the pip horror stories. So it’s funny for me I thought I had received the high rate on both for a new neurological condition I have which is quite serious but actually when I read my award decision I got 90% of the award based on my agoraphobia so yes mostly mental health

Mumtotwoxo · 30/12/2022 00:45

@Thatboymum I'm wondering if I will have any luck in the next few weeks as I applied mid September. Did you receive payment before your letter?
I applied due to my MH as I suffer ocd/intrusive thoughts, chronic anxiety and depression.
I'm not sure if I ever answered the questions correctly to my illness's on the application but I'm hoping with the evidence they will be able to make a decision! X

OP posts:
Thatboymum · 30/12/2022 01:14

@Mumtotwoxo i got it for Ocd anxiety and agoraphobia but also a very very small part of it was for brain damage which causes speech and mobility issues but they barely took that into account, I used the live chat let’s say on a Monday and they said still with the decision maker which it had been for 4/5 weeks and then by like the Wednesday I had a back pay pending in my bank and two weeks later a letter detailing all the points and why I was awarded them, they touched on things the gp had confirmed like medication I take visits to the mental health nurse etc, I didn’t put a lot of effort into my application and no supporting evidence I really didn’t imagine I’d get the award I did

Mumtotwoxo · 02/01/2023 16:45

@Thatboymum thank you for the advice! How do you use the live chat? I'd like an update as my application has been on the decision process for over a month now

fidgetcube · 02/01/2023 16:51

for Live chat if you Google ‘social security Scotland live chat’ that’ll get you it. It opens again tomorrow.

I did a change of circumstance with pip, they started a transfer to adp, which completed early mid December, I went on live chat then and they confirmed it had been completed and that they’d sent out letters before I’d live chatted them. Still waiting on the letters.

good luck with your claim.

omactualg · 02/01/2023 17:25

I’ve just applied for agoraphobia/CPTSD - application went off on 21 Dec, when I did my ID check she said probably hear back around about March-April time . Fingers crossed .

Lisalisaandcultjam · 02/01/2023 18:50

Nobody contacted me for ID check. Did everyone else get this? I got a text when I completed Part 2 of the online form. I used the online chat last week and they said it was waiting to be picked up by the decision making team. I'm not sure what that means.

Mumtotwoxo · 02/01/2023 19:58

@fidgetcube thank you for your reply! I hope I hear from them soon as I did provide 3 letters of evidence from professionals

@omactualg I had my id check second week in November but she didn't give me a time frame, hoping I hear soon!

OP posts:
Mumtotwoxo · 02/01/2023 20:03

@Lisalisaandcultjam I got my id check November the same day I sent in my proof of illness from my doctor and mh nurse.
If it's awaiting in the queue for decision making then the person making decision might request an id check. That's the longest part I believe

Thank you. I gave the details of the OT who has been visiting me for over 5 years and my GP when applying. Maybe they will go directly to them for evidence.
I applied similar time to yourself which is now almost 4 months ago.
