Do You Know Many People Who Still Haven't Had Covid?

DH and I have had all vaccinations and boosters. We're both over sixty and we live in a small, remote Scottish village. I believe that this is probably the reason that neither of us has caught Covid (yet).

The DC live in London and three of them have had it (two of them, twice).

Whilst there have been countless cases of Covid in our village, we have escaped.

Does anyone else know people who still haven't had it?

I've not had Covid. Fully vaccinated. Live in Scottish city. Nearly all I know have had it 1/2 by now.

AnneLovesGilbert · 24/11/2022 09:42

Yes, including DH, DD and me.

plipplopplonk · 24/11/2022 09:43

A relative who works in a nursing home. All of their family have had it and the residents too but not them.

The only people I know are my husband and his Dad. When I had it, I slept in the spare room and used a different bathroom, but despite sharing the rest of the house, my husband escaped it. His Dad didn’t catch it when his mum had it either. It does make me wonder if the two of them have some sort of natural/genetic immunity. At least my husband worked from home throughout 2020-2021, his Dad works in a food warehouse and so continued going out to work.

BobbyBobbyBobby · 24/11/2022 09:44

I do not know anyone that has had it. No family, no friends and none of my husbands work associates.

Silvercatowner · 24/11/2022 09:45

I've never has covid. Neither has husband or younger son. All fully vaccinated.

BobbyBobbyBobby · 24/11/2022 09:45

None of my family are vaccinated. ^

paintitallover · 24/11/2022 09:45

People don't know if they've had it, often.

hairyunicorn · 24/11/2022 09:46

Fully vaccinated, used to be a Covid tester. still never had it :)

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 24/11/2022 09:46

Me, fully vaxxed, lives in London. Best friend, no vaxxes, also lives in London.

LozzaChops101 · 24/11/2022 09:46

I’ve not knowingly had it. I worked in food retail in the crowded South East of England all the way through and all of my colleagues have had it. I could have had it asymptomatically at some point I suppose, but I think I’ve probably avoided by not having kids to bring germs home!

That's true. It's entirely possible that DH and I have had an asymptomatic illness and never knew.

Neither DH or I have had it. Both fully vaccinated. Most people I know have had it, some more than once.

I was back commuting in August 2020, and was out and about as much as possible. But like you, no kids.

Have they been taking tests?

All my friends and family have had it - but they were all pretty good about testing even with mild symptoms

maranella · 24/11/2022 09:49

Very few, although DM and stepdad have so far avoided it and DSis, who has been at work throughout, has never tested positive (and had to test 2x weekly for about 18 months, so would probably have had a positive test at some point if she'd had it).

Shodan · 24/11/2022 09:50

As far as I know I haven't ad it. As per a PP, I could've had it asymptomatically I guess.

I thought for sure I'd had it last winter, just before Christmas, but tests deemed otherwise.

DP has had it once, ds1 twice and ds2 once.

euff · 24/11/2022 09:52

To my knowledge DH, DS and I have not had it. DD got it and we all tested every day whilst she had it and a few days beyond just in case and was negative throughout. This was with her hugging and snuggling up to me. We tested regularly up until my vulnerable DM and the rest of us were triple vaccinated. Me and DH were fully wfh throughout lockdown though.

cptartapp · 24/11/2022 09:52

Lots of people will have had it but have no idea.
I only know I've had it at some point because I tested positive for antibodies in a routine blood test in June 2020.

Whichwhatnow · 24/11/2022 09:53

My parents haven't, thank god as my dad in particular is very vulnerable following lung cancer. They've taken a lot of precautions.

I, my DH, siblings, nieces and nephews and multiple friends have all had it. I'm on my second bout currently as is DH. We're fully vaccinated.

Ostryga · 24/11/2022 09:53

Me! Never had it, only had one vax (chronically disorganised, not anti-vax) and used to test twice a week due to work. Still test now if I catch something.

Dd has it it twice so no idea how I’ve escaped it.

TheFairyCaravan · 24/11/2022 09:53

DS1 is in the army, fully vaccinated, has been all round the world during the pandemic, tested positive for the first time yesterday. He’s in Wales on a course atm, most of them have either COVID, a cold or the flu.

MIL and FIL, also, have it for the first time atm. I think it’s only BIL & SIL who’ve not had it in our family.

user374698 · 24/11/2022 09:54

Both sides of next door neighbours, we had it about a month ago and both sides said they hadn't when we were in conversation after we got better, we are all in our 60s and retired

No testing by any members of my family. Don’t know about my husbands colleagues and believe only two friends tested for travel purposes.

MadisonAvenue · 24/11/2022 09:55

My son. He’s 25 and a secondary school teacher.
He still lives at home and didn’t catch it when the other three of us had it in January or when I had it again in September.
