Do You Know Many People Who Still Haven't Had Covid?

DH and I have had all vaccinations and boosters. We're both over sixty and we live in a small, remote Scottish village. I believe that this is probably the reason that neither of us has caught Covid (yet).

The DC live in London and three of them have had it (two of them, twice).

Whilst there have been countless cases of Covid in our village, we have escaped.

Does anyone else know people who still haven't had it?

I haven't had it - probably jinxed it now though! I live in a city, take the bus to work where I teach. My kids have had it. I'm quite surprised I haven't had it yet and I have tested at the slightest sniffle as we had to at work.

Hbh17 · 24/11/2022 11:48

I have no idea whether I've ever had Covid, as I've never tested

Myself, husband, son and elderly mother

Several medically vulnerable relatives haven't but they are still being very careful.

Fully Vaxxed MIL, who has taken very little notice of any of the guidelines etc throughout hasn't had it to our knowledge- despite loads of her friends and family that she mixes with regularly, including very close to them testing positive, having had it (some twice). However, when we all had it DH showed no major symptoms (just felt a little bit tired- we wouldn't have know he had it he hadn't tested when we were all unwell) so I wonder if they are somehow genetically protected and she might have had it asymptomatically.

Us until this week! No idea how, we've been out and about as usual for a long time, DD in nursery, etc. But we avoided it till this week. Tbh I only tested as we had a couple of leftover LFTs, otherwise would have just put it down to a normal cold.

Duvetdweller · 24/11/2022 12:02

Me, DH (customer facing), 2 DD’s both at senior school - none of us have had it

EarlofShrewsbury · 24/11/2022 12:05

The only people I know who have never had it are heavy smokers.

maddy68 · 24/11/2022 12:07

Yes I know a few. All vaccinated.

RedSoloCup · 24/11/2022 12:09

None of us have had it (family of 5 Essex) and although we're not currently testing we were a lot until a few months ago.

Iheartmysmart · 24/11/2022 12:12

Similar to a PP, I was absolutely floored by a horrible virus back in December 2019 as were many of my colleagues who had been at the same meeting.

Since then, I’ve been on trains, planes, worked in retail part time, been to gigs, the cinema etc and not so much as a sniffle.

The only members of my family who have tested positive are my son and nephew and two friends have had it.

scaredysquiggle · 02/01/2023 18:34

This thread was in my watchlist so I'm bumping it because finally I've caught Covid. No one else in our family has it - just me. I've never been so poorly.

AlecTrevelyan006 · 02/01/2023 19:04

I’ve had it once (57) - last summer - fully jabbed

my wife (50) hasn’t had it - fully jabbed

son (26) hasn’t had it - vaccinated once

daughter (23) hasn’t had it - unvaccinated

DollyDoofer · 02/01/2023 19:10

None of my family have had it, except one who is a cashier at Tesco. She caught it in the early days before vaccinations were a thing.

My neighbour, university lecturer, had it in the early days too.

I don’t know anyone whose had it since vaccines were administered.

Byfleet · 02/01/2023 19:11

I haven’t had it. I worked in a college which was one of the last to close before lock down. People all around me had it (10 people in the college died of it, but we have been told not to discuss this) All during lock down I travelled on London transport. I am not a covid denier and I supported government regulations but was very flexible about how I interpreted them. Both my DCs have had it twice but I haven’t as far as I know.

I think it is very likely I had it at the beginning when there were no tests available.

MindPalace · 02/01/2023 19:13

Most of my family haven’t had it.

hiredandsqueak · 02/01/2023 19:16

The only person I know who has had covid is my adult son who likely caught it on the plane home from Tenerife. Myself, exh and three other adult dc have managed to avoid it so far.

Starlightstarbright1 · 02/01/2023 19:19

I don't believe myself or Ds had it

I have had to test throughout due to jobs.

I now only test with symptoms..

Spudlet · 02/01/2023 19:19

As far as we can tell, my parents and brother haven’t had it yet. I’ve had it at least once (maybe twice but the first time was before the first lockdown even, so no way to be sore) as has DH, and DS has had it twice that we know of for sure and maybe also at the same time as me and DH at the very start.

Borborygmus · 02/01/2023 19:24

I only know 4 people who have (knowingly) had it.

B1rds · 02/01/2023 19:34

Only my MIL who rarely goes out.

tedgran · 02/01/2023 19:44

DH, 84 five jabs and myself 75, six jabs haven't had Covid. We live in SW London and lead busy social lives. Through lockdown I went in person to the shops and went on public transport, masked. However despite our flu jabs we both went down with it over Christmas!

LetsDoThis2023 · 02/01/2023 20:02

I live in London OP.
My husband and sin have had it twice. I haven't had it.
Even had sex with DH before I knew he had it.
Go figure.

containsnuts · 02/01/2023 20:07

We still haven't knowingly had it despite having school age DCs. We test regularly. Starting to feel anxious that we'll be the only ones with no prior exposure should a nasty variant arise. No idea how our bodies will handle it. Maybe we've been asymptomatic all along or maybe we'll be dead by spring. Time will tell.

Zippedydoo123 · 02/01/2023 20:15

Not had it. Nor 17 yr ds. We have both been vaxxed throughout.

His dad who lives in London not had it either. He catches buses all the time never had the jabs and is in his late 60s.

Have you had jabs?
