Do You Know Many People Who Still Haven't Had Covid?

DH and I have had all vaccinations and boosters. We're both over sixty and we live in a small, remote Scottish village. I believe that this is probably the reason that neither of us has caught Covid (yet).

The DC live in London and three of them have had it (two of them, twice).

Whilst there have been countless cases of Covid in our village, we have escaped.

Does anyone else know people who still haven't had it?

I haven't had it despite working with young children. My husband hasn't had it despite working in the NHS. Neither of my kids have had it.

Whataplanker · 04/01/2023 17:45

My DH hasn't, even though I've had it twice and DD has had it once. He was testing regularly for work and no positive tests and he was selected to take part in NHS antibody test to see of he has ever had it and he hadn't then.

I haven’t had it nor my husband . Live in the second city and DH works from home mainly but we are not very social people. So aren’t out all the time . I have thought I had it a few times but didn’t test positive.

I’ve not had it, and neither have my parents. My DP had it but despite sharing the home with him and making no effort to stay apart, I never got it. I did test throughout our isolation but was always negative.

Luana1 · 04/01/2023 18:41

I've had it but DH hasn't, I didn't isolate from him when I had it but he didn't get it. I don't think the DC have had it either but we've never tested them.

Lovegossip · 04/01/2023 18:45

Of my family I'm the only one that's not had it, DH is on his 4th bout of it, other family members have had had mild symptoms but all had jabs and boosters, I'm probably just lucky 🤷‍♀️

Hbh17 · 04/01/2023 18:47

Me & husband haven't had it, as far as we know. Live in a city. He worked in a hospital in 2020, patient-facing.
I don't think it's that unusual, but people who have had it like to make a fuss about it, and are very vocal.
The rest of us are the silent majority!

DonttouchthatLarry · 04/01/2023 18:50

DH and I haven't had it - both in our 50's, fully vaccinated - in fact I haven't had a cold/flu since December 2019 (I'd have thought that was covid if it had been a couple of months later as worst cough and lethargy I've ever had even with previous chest infections).

Hbh17 · 04/01/2023 18:50

Oh, and although we are fully vaccinated, we have always refused to take "precautions". We were out & about as soon as allowed, theatres, sports events, Tube trains etc. No masks, obviously.

Bumply · 04/01/2023 18:57

I didn't catch it early last year when my young adult sons living with me both had it.

Thought I was immune and then tested positive early September (testing before a holiday with no symptoms then or later).

And then again after the replacement holiday just before Christmas. This time I felt ill with cold symptoms

IVFlife · 04/01/2023 19:01

Me. Lots of health issues. Work in schools. Have been around people who have been positive.

amylou8 · 04/01/2023 19:04

I don't think I've had it, and I live in London. Only tested once because they made me to get on a plane, but haven't had any significant illness since the world went bonkers.

TheShellBeach · 05/01/2023 15:10

I just wonder if we did actually have it and not realise.

It's very likely. More sensitive tests showed people to be positive when lateral flow tests were showing negative. Many people will have been asymptomatic.

LlynTegid · 05/01/2023 16:10

Unless asymptomatic infection, I have not had it. Have lived on my own for several years, worn face coverings on public transport (not used much now I work from home), and office visits are even now such I am sat a distance from others.

CambsAlways · 05/01/2023 19:36

Me up until three days ago I’m EV but never ever was smug thinking I wouldn’t get it. Feel awful winded pains everywhere coughing very lightheaded lots of phlegm just want it to bugger off

LoobyDop · 05/01/2023 19:46

I haven’t had it, neither has my husband. Probably because we both wfh most of the time, very rarely use public transport, and don’t have any children- so we’re not really ever forced into contact with other people. I did have a nasty cold in the summer, probably caught on a plane. Guess that could have been covid as I didn’t test, but he didn’t catch it and I was completely fine after about three days. Not a sniff of any other viruses since February 2020, and I used to be terrible for awful colds.

lljkk · 05/01/2023 19:56

Me, DH, DD, DSs...
We all interact with other people lots.
Not been ill with covid, never tested + for SARS-CoV-2.
