I’ve just had to make the hardest and saddest choice of my life. I’m feeling sad and I have absolutely no one to talk to, and could really do with some chit chat to take my mind off things. Does anyone want a chat about anything other than my hard decision?

@Saddecision
I think someone thought you were the person who was contemplating having her old childhood pony euthanised..I must admit that crossed my mind too!

Hope you are ok, whatever your sad decision was.

Oh no! I thought she was joking. I’m sorry 💐

Ooh, now there's an idea. And I've got posh custard in the fridge after crumble on Sunday. Genius! It's cinnamon brioche, do if I chuck a few raisins in, that should work nicely. DH will be very impressed when he gets home, we don't normally do dessert!

Fraaahnces · 22/11/2022 01:27

If it makes you feel better @BookShark , my kids used to beg me to “Pleeeease, just buy the cake, Mum!” (And that was before these decorated works of art were a thing!) My baking is for enemies only. I make fabulous salads and curries though - and even better than that, my cocktails are magnificent.

Fraaahnces · 22/11/2022 01:28

Whoooo…. I leave in half an hour and I’ve had two patients!!!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 22/11/2022 01:33

I made a pear, lavender and white chocolate cake. 😛
I'm sorry you've got a lot on your mind. 💕

MiniatureSchnauzerEyeBrows · 22/11/2022 01:38

💐 Op, what do you like to out on toast. I like mine to be cold so the butter doesn’t melt. Also a lover of marmite.

pollyglot · 22/11/2022 01:39

Want to know about our weather? Torrential rain, thunder, wind. My flight was cancelled this morning. Here are my feathery girls looking miserable and asking if they can come in, please.

Please can you hold my hand for a bit. I’ve just had to make an incredibly sad decision.
DuchessDandelion · 22/11/2022 02:15

@pollyglot I thought I was looking at a depressed goose for a minute

StoppinBy · 22/11/2022 03:44

My dog has just had some rather $$$ surgery on her elbow and so we've packed away all her toys she's not trying to run around with them.

She's on major connfinement orders and today while I was at work she spent 5 hours in the crate (big crate but still sucks when she's used to the run of the house and the yard).

I feel guilty about both those things but just now she topped it off by managing to find a ball and excitedly bringing it to me and me having to refuse to throw it for her. Lol - poor dog, the look on her face, first excited and then crushed, I feel so bad for her.

Im having a bit of a rough time RN. This thread is cheering me right up. Can I ask th9. What channels are you finding Miss Marple (preferably Joan Hickson) and poirot? Pls.

ITV Hub (I think that’s what it’s called) has a good selection of them

Ulysses · 22/11/2022 06:48

This is such a lovely thread and I hope has been a comfort for you OP.

Thanks to those contributing with carrot cake recipes, dog and hen pics and I’m going to seek out Miss Marple on ITV Hub.

I watch it on Britbox. Lots of other great classic shows on there as well.

@pollyglot I thought I was looking at a depressed goose for a minute

But it's a hen!
How can you tell if a goose is depressed anyway? What does a happy goose look like 🤔

I think I saw it the same way for a moment, my eye was drawn to the tall grey thing to the left of the hen. I can imagine Duchess thought that was the goose and if so the way its “head” curves away does make it look depressed

I would like the recipe for the muffins, please 😊

Can I PM x

😆 yes that's it. I saw the concrete thing (not sure what it actually is) and it looked like the back of a goose/swans head and neck, with the bird holding its beak to its neck.

I too have hd to make a hard decision.and it’s continues a butterfly of effects over the next few days for Deff if not more.it’s bought such a horrid feeling of doom to my tummy.so by you reaching out you’ve helped me and many more I’m sure.

Deathraystare · 23/11/2022 08:39

@Johnnyfartpants ·
. I also by mistake ate a whole tub of ice cream by accident.

Yes! Funny how this happens! Literally opens itself up and leaps down our protesting throat!!

Deathraystare · 23/11/2022 08:40

Ice cream, sponge puddings and cakes have been mentioned. Shame I am (supposed to be ) dieting. I keep thinking about sponge puddings with jam or syrup!

I was at the supermarket checkout and as the cashier swiped a packet of Warburtons teacakes, she said "Oooh I could just eat a toasted teacake and cheese"
and the customer behind me said "So could I". I was like what? wait, what culinary wizardry is this? Turns out it's a known thing in Yorkshire, I have lived here a!l my life and had never heard of it. Rich fruit cake with a slab of Wensleydale is a given, but toasted cheese on a toasted teacake? Still haven't tried it, but I am tempted.

Christmas Cake and Cheese - YUM😊.
Sending you a hug OP💐
