I’ve just had to make the hardest and saddest choice of my life. I’m feeling sad and I have absolutely no one to talk to, and could really do with some chit chat to take my mind off things. Does anyone want a chat about anything other than my hard decision?

Best taskmaster task, Rhod Gilbert in Greg's wardrobe..... I nearly damaged myself on that one..... Rosalind is a fucking nightmare is a fairly close second 🤣

I am going to make that carrot cake! Crushed pineapple? Sounds like a game changer!

I've just put the washing out on the airer to dry in front of the fire. Shook out a jumper. Tissue in the pocket. my living room now looks like I’ve got a fairly serious coke habit 🤦‍♀️. I’m just ignoring it because I cannot be bothered to hoover tonight.

best shower gel? I’m a bit of a “whatever’s on for a pound in savers” kind of woman but I do love that foamburst one. Feels like a bit of a treat.

I had to hoover, yes HOOVER, my dark blue jeans pocket which had a rogue tissue in it. They are the reason why I used kitchen roll usually. This was a few days after I hung up my dressing gown on the washing line and one pocket had a washed tissue in it too. That was left to its own devises on the line and thankfully shed it all outside. As for my jeans, I didn't realise for ages why I had lumps of washed tissue on my bedroom and bathroom floor🙄

My favourite taskmaster bit ever is either 1) romesh ranganathan punting a watermelon off the floor with all his might or 2) Rhod Gilbert hiding in a cupboard.

Regarding cakes - coffee cake feels autumnal to me but really appropriate at any time. Chocolate Guinness and red velvet are also definitely autumn/winter cakes.

@buddhasbelly and @RoseAndGeranium Well I made a lemon cake today, with buttercream filling and thick lemon icing on top….sorry, not sorry 😆It was by special request of my daughter though as it’s her birthday today 😊

It sounds delicious. Would probably eat on Christmas Day if you put it in front of me. Your daughter is very lucky!

WhatICallMyUsername · 21/11/2022 22:18

I am here too for a bit of Taskmaster chat! Not necessarily my favourite task but the one that always springs to mind when someone mentions it is Chris Ramsey shouting NO WAY during the shoe task 🤣

I also have a bit of an unhealthy crush on Greg Davies 😳

WarrenGRegulate · 21/11/2022 22:18

Great post OP 💕
Have you watched Bad Sisters, it’s on Apple TV?
Also, all this talk of Neighbours, does anyone else watch Home and Away or is it just me? I love it!
I’ve just realised I’ve gone to bed with my bra on, now trying to muster up the energy to wrestle it off from under my pjs!

I am partial to apple cake with a cinnamon glaze.

This sounds amazing. Have you tried apple cake with maple syrup and cream cheese icing?

Absolutely best ever is Lord of Misrule from LUSH! But I’m very much a nearest and cheapest in general.

This is my favourite shower gel ever! You're a woman of excellent taste! In fact, you've made me want to pick a bottle tomorrow...

Not cake but MIL dropped off some homemade apple pie and custard earlier. Obviously we had to eat it tonight and I'm so stuffed I don't think I can get off the sofa.

I'm stuffed on the sofa too from finding a bargain bunch of 10 bananas @20p in our local coop tonight so made an indulgent pudding including oats, golden syrup biscotti spread coupled with creme frais that could have fed 5 but hubbie and I polished off between us. Ooh love the reduced trolly!

I watched an old Miss Marple, it’s like a hug in TV form. Even though I know the plot, it’s nice to dip in and out. I also by mistake ate a whole tub of ice cream by accident.

Would you be my soul mate @Johnnyfartpants ?

I rewatched an old Poirot yesterday. I wish I lived next door to Miss Marple and Hercule Poirot was my Uncle who I had dinner with every week.

avocadoandchill · 21/11/2022 22:24

Have you seen Rhod Gilbert's work experience programmes they are fun. He's a model in one of them!

MadisonAvenue · 21/11/2022 22:24

Can I join?
I’ll eat lemon cake any time of year. I’m not fussed about chocolate cake, I wouldn’t turn a slice down though but it wouldn’t be my first - or second - choice.

You’d have to accept A LOT of your friends being murdered if you got your wish. Short of moving to Badger’s Drift in Midsomer you could hardly court danger more.

Clarinet1 · 21/11/2022 22:28

Mark Heap was also hilarious as the therapist in a couple of episodes of Miranda. Incidentally, would heartily recommend a couple of episodes of that (any) to take your mind if your sad decision, OP. Love and handholds.

Yes!!! I love Poirot too and wish I could waft around beautiful art deco apartment buildings in very waisted dresses and have Hercules kiss my gloved hand whenever he saw me. And Jane Marple would be my auntie and we would sit on her lawn and people watch in St Mary Mead.

For someone who is both greedy and wide, I am fussy about cake.

Pref a victoria sponge but with fresh whipped cream not gammy buttercream. Yak.

Or banana bread but with chocolate chips.. Yum.

JoolsVerne · 21/11/2022 22:29

Oh I absolutely love Poirot. I also recently read David Suchet's book about playing him. It was so comforting; like a hug in a book!

Smileatthesmallthings · 21/11/2022 22:31

I love lemon cake. And lemon cheesecake. And lemon meringue pie. And lemon tart. And lemon curd straight out of the jar with a spoon....
If given an option with cake it will always be lemon..

Though what I could absolutely do right now is eat an entire french stick dripping with baked camembert.

Here with you OP x

I’ll add it to my Christmas list! People (DH) always want to know what I want and I can never think!

You're welcome

bigdecisionstomake · 21/11/2022 22:34

Can I just say, apropos of absolutely nothing, I have just rediscovered the joy of a buttered toasted teacake. I'm not usually a fan of dried fruit but you really can't beat a hot teacake and a cup of tea on a day like today.

Bugger, that recipe should have been on the carrot cake thread, sorry!!

Well thank you for posting it on the wrong thread cos I've now just saved the recipe!!

WhiteFire · 21/11/2022 22:38

I am sat at a new desk at work, I am a great source of disappointment as they slowly find out that I like very little food, especially of the cakes and pudding variety.

On a better note, I have almost finished my The Snowman and The Snowdog jigsaw.
