Your first perfume

Can you remember what your first proper perfume was? I was looking for a perfume for dd12 for Christmas and I sniffed one and it instantly took me back to 1994 it was identical to the original United colours of Benetton perfume, I got a bit excited and said to the girl in the shop who nodded along sympatheticly with the old woman!!

I bought DD (who was 11 at the time) Marc Jacobs Daisy Love eau so sweet for her first one. She loves it.

L'Aimant by Coty, when I was early teens - a lovely soft powdery scent. Is it still made? If so I might have to take a sniff down memory lane.

Oh and by later teens I'd graduated to Rive Gauche, which made me feel very sophisticated.

I had Tribe and Exclamation. Then I had CK One and Emporio Armani.

Saw it in Sainsbury's only last week

I just looked and it doesn't seem like it's available here (SA) although Coty still have a big range.

I noticed they have a new range out called Whispers.. . I am bold, I am brave etc.

I might have to go and give them a sniff. They are one of the oldest perfume houses so I'm a little intrigued now.

The Exclamation range is aimed at teenagers and the younger generation with the bright bottles, this Whispers range seems more subdued.

It was called If. It was made by Boots and was in a brown bottle that looked like a milk bottle. Ma Griffe too, the smell of that brings back some memories.

Oh yes, I had this one too it was bright yellow! :)

If there is a Savers store near you they have it for £4.99.

why is it funny?

it was my second. My first love was Charlie (blue) sadly it doesn't smell the same anymore.

My boyfriend buying me Chanel no5, in Paris was a lovely part of my 2st there. (I'd been wearing it a few years by then).

I think United by Benetton was my first perfume too, bought in duty free on a ferry. I would love to smell it again, I was just searching for it recently. Also Ralph Lauren Polo (for men) that was all the rage in my all girls' school!

Yeah my mum's best friend used to wear it, she used to have the giant bottle of it. She was the most sophisticated woman I knew as a child, it was therefore the reason for me wearing at 12-13 years old!

Another one for Kiku by Faberge. Along with Brut, they were the smell of the Saturday night bus into town around 1970.

Probably Davidoff Cool Water, my then boyfriend used to buy it for me. I can't remember what it smells like though.

Monsoon aka Wild Lagoon by Coty. I do wish they would bring it back.
I also loved LouLou by Cacharel and treated myself to a bottle from Amazon last month.
