This article prompted me to post. https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2022/nov/19/adults-who-have-cuddly-toys-comfort-objects?CMP=ShareiOSAppp_Other

I still have mine 'mouse' it sometimes goes on top of my pillows or on the bookcase. It was handmade by my aunt over 30 years ago so has seen better days.

I wondered if it was odd to keep it out in my bedroom still, but now feel slightly reassured.

Yes. Mrs Bunny. My 6 year old now sleeps with her every night. She's seen better days (the rabbit, not the child...) but gets restuffed with old tights every so often and is still cuddly.

yes! Mine was a Silver Cross teddy and bought for me when I was born 59 years ago. He is made from mohair and smells wonderful!

ChessieFL · 19/11/2022 15:02

Yes, he sits on my bookcase.

Nope, my granny took it out of safe storage with my mums wedding dress and binned it

That’s not why we are no contact but it’s on the list.

Girasoli · 19/11/2022 15:02

Yes, she lives at my parents house though as I'd be worried my DC might accidentally break her though (big cuddly bunny from a childhood Easter egg hunt, and her two bunny babies)

On my bedside table I have a cat beany baby DH won me at a fun fair as students.

Alacarde · 19/11/2022 15:02

Yes, it's a womble - I was born peak-womble era - and it now sits by my bed.

Pebblebeach15 · 19/11/2022 15:02

Yes , he is 46 years old and sits on the shelf in my ds’s room .

LBOCS2 · 19/11/2022 15:03

No, I put them both in storage when I cleared out DM's house after she died and there was a fire. I'm sad about losing a lot of things from there but those probably hurt most.

Our DD was 11 weeks premature in 1984. From her brother she was given
'Brown Ted' this was placed in her incubator.
Even now 38 years later it has pride of place on her bedroom window sill.
He even goes on holiday with her.

If it gives you pleasure that's all that matters.

BigScreen · 19/11/2022 15:04

Yes, she in a bedroom draw. 50 years old and very much the worse for wear.

QueenOfWeeds · 19/11/2022 15:04

Yes! DH doesn’t and when I asked him he said he didn’t remember ever having one, which made me disproportionately sad.

teenagetantrums · 19/11/2022 15:05

Yes my elephant is 57 now. Sits on top of my wardrobe. I have my adult kids teddies as well they don't want them in their houses but apparently l can't get rid of them 🙄

*drawer !!

Zarzuela · 19/11/2022 15:07

I have a few of my baby-toddler era bears. They are in with DD's but she never played with them.

My 84 year old DM has hers sitting on a chair in her bedroom, he's 83.

Anyone still have their childhood teddy?
spiderlight · 19/11/2022 15:08

Yes, I still have my two special ones - Teddy, who used to growl but doesn't any more, and Pinky, who is precious because I have a very vivid memory of seeing him in the window of a closed shop when I was tiny, and my dad walking back with me when it was open to buy him.

CaptainCallisto · 19/11/2022 15:09

Yes, I still have my bear. It may sound pathetic, but I still hug it to sleep. If we ever go on holiday or anything, I end up hugging the pillow Grin It doesn't bother DH and it's not hurting anybody so I shall continue to do so!

GhostCastle · 19/11/2022 15:11

I got rid of my teddy. I took it everywhere with me when I was little and slept with it. I got rid of it when I was a teenager because it was big and took up a fair bit of space. Regret it now. Upsetting to think it’s rotting in landfill. :(

Toddlerteaplease · 19/11/2022 15:14

Here he is

Mine is his twin!!!

sneezums · 19/11/2022 15:18

Yes - had him for my christening and will be 60 next year. Arms and legs sewed on multiple times and very bald in places but sits in my bedroom still 💕

4yearsandwaiting · 19/11/2022 15:18

I have 2 but kept in the loft one hand made by a relative and one was a gift from a relative in Australia for my first birthday (I'm in my 40s now). I kept them for sentimental reasons my 3 dc all played with them and they're in the loft for any grandchildren I have.

Cleveramazing · 19/11/2022 15:19

I have mine and its very old!

StarbucksSmarterSister · 19/11/2022 15:20

Sadly, no. He got lost when we cleared my mother's house (I think I must have put him in the wrong bag and he got binned 😥). I could kick myself

My granny bought him for my first Christmas. He was very much loved, half his fur was worn away. I don't remember it but he had a music box in his tummy which used to play "Teddy Bears' Picnic".
