I just heard on the radio. Don't know what others think but I used to love their brightly coloured pyjamas.

She’s right though 😂

I'm not sure how my padded coat or dressing gown makes me look 20 years out of date 🙄

SizzlestheSausageDog · 14/11/2022 13:42

The shop in Winchester closed a few months back, I thought things might not be going well when that happened. Seems like fashion has moved on and it's all athleisure and grunge now.

mamabear715 · 14/11/2022 13:46

I think we do wear just what we like, @ChristmasisRuined ?
I've always felt that Joules is too old for me - I forget I'm in my mid sixties! :-)
Just not my style - IF I indeed have one!

TheTeddyBears · 14/11/2022 13:49

What! I've waiting on an order and I've bought several items in more than one size for my girls. Am I going to bed left with it all? I assume I won't be able to return for refund if they are in administration.

Bastards just put on a big Black Friday sale last week so no doubt lots of folk in same situation as me.

PriamFarrl · 14/11/2022 14:12

Perhaps some of us had enough of the mean girls telling us that we were wearing the wrong stuff when we were 14.

theswoot · 14/11/2022 07:28

Maybe Mike Ashley will pick it up and make it another part of his empire

Mike Ashley vs Next I think, I can see the brand living on under new ownership

Autumnnewname · 14/11/2022 14:22

I do like joules stuff but in our small town we have a Joules shop, plus you can buy there stuff in another shop nearby and the garden centre. So I'm not sure how much business they did.

ArabeI · 14/11/2022 14:39

There was a recent thread where a few of us thought quality, etc, had declined. Sadly I'm not surprised.

BobbyBobbyBobby · 14/11/2022 14:44

Quality has declined and year after year the same old same old thing.

Sorry@MetellaInHortoEst didnt mean to quote you. Or anyone else.

It’s okay. I could see what you did there.

mamabear715 · 14/11/2022 14:58

OOH miaoow, @ChristmasisRuined , what did I say to rattle YOUR cage?
I re-read my comment & can't see that I was getting at you in any way.. but if being spiteful makes you happy, dear, you carry on! My back is still broad, even if it's old & decrepit! ;-)

IneedanewTV · 14/11/2022 08:59

I’m 57. I’ve never bought anything from there. Always looks frumpy.

Did saying that make you feel better about yourself? To insult Joules fans that a woman your age thinks it's frumpy?!

LynneBenfield · 14/11/2022 14:59

I think some people like the fact that it hasn’t changed much, style-wise over the years. It means that those customers can always find reliable basics that they like in shapes and styles that they like and suit them. I don’t think it ever claimed to be fashionable or on-trend, did it? There’s no need to be so derogatory about their customer base.

Of course, it could have helped future-proof a little by including a few more modern shapes, cuts and styles in the collections, alongside their best-selling basics and not overextending themselves financially. It’s sad for the staff.

Nothing spiteful at all, I just don't think Joules is aimed at retirees? What's spiteful about that? They're primarily aimed at (country residing) Mums of young children?

MidnightMeltdown · 14/11/2022 15:07

That's sad. It's one of the few places that you can still get decent quality at an affordable price. I bought a couple of tops from there just a few weeks ago.

mamabear715 · 14/11/2022 15:07

Then I apologise, @ChristmasisRuined , it came across that way, but I still never wore Joules when I was mucking horses out!

MidnightMeltdown · 14/11/2022 15:13

PenOrPencil · 14/11/2022 10:28

Some nice stuff but overpriced! I just bought some really nice bedsheets from their eBay outlet for £40. No way I would have paid the regular price of £160!

This is the problem. Lots of people don't want to pay the price for quality, so we end up with high street shops all selling Primark quality shite.

I ordered from Boden recently and was shocked at how thin and crappy the fabric was. It's become very hard to find decent quality on the high street. I'd rather they just hiked the prices and sold better quality.

Toddlerteaplease · 14/11/2022 15:18

I agree that it's all the same. And overpriced at that. They used to have lovely stuff, but it's all floral now.

Phrenologistsfinger · 14/11/2022 15:19

Haycorns4Piglet · 14/11/2022 10:52

I like bright patterned clothes but didn't like the whole 'Country pursuits' vibe (ie, killing things) they had going on.

This

Toddlerteaplease · 14/11/2022 15:21

I always check eBay before buying anything direct.

Boden are an absolute joke of a company these days. Their prices have climbed to an insane level but their quality is crap now. Most of it is just vastly overpriced polyester.

I really don’t mind paying for good quality, but a plain-ish cotton bedding set for £160?

gogohmm · 14/11/2022 15:41

Not surprised because was in there last week and their designs currently are dire
