I just heard on the radio. Don't know what others think but I used to love their brightly coloured pyjamas.

I'd forgotten that Lands End existed - that's exactly the sort of thing I was after (and they've a sale on)! Thanks @Damnautocorrect

they don’t let me forget them, with all the emails they send.
brakeburn or cotton traders would be my other suggestion.
good luck in your quest!

I am very sad for all those working in the business who are going to lose their jobs or who have put their money in and will lose that (if indeed they will - I think I remember reading that when Orla Kiely went bust she and her husband had taken large amounts of money out for at least 4 years beforehand). Was it still owned by the original proprietors or had they sold to venture capitalists? Likewise anyone in the supply chain who will lose out. But I can't stand Joules as a brand so I'm not sorry to see it go. Overpriced even before the latest Cost of Living crisis bit, and none of it ever fit me shapewise, designs a bit twee and samey. I would suggest that enough of the rest of the population agreed as to make the business non-viable.

This.
I read somewhere the other day that Joules had been sold to/ invested in by venture capitalists- so even if the original owner still has some say/ share, the overriding objective for the last few years will have been to drive increasing levels of profit, which probably explains the drop in quality a lot of people have mentioned.
I’m not a Joules customer but it is sad to see yet another brand and its jobs disappear - I think it’s the classic trope of over expansion and frankly greed for returning more money to more people. I expect if it had stayed smaller it might have survived. Happened to a lot of businesses over the last decade, in the headwinds of online shopping and fast fashion.

I made an order on the 17th, still was wasn’t fullfield. I’m hoping it will come as the item was only few in stock and now it’s out of stock for last 3 days..

OhIdoLike2bBesideTheSeaside · 20/11/2022 11:11

I placed an order last weekend before the announcement and got lots of kids stuff - I added it up I spent £97 for basically about £400's worth of stuff as I also applied an extra 20% sale code I'd had emailed.

I had an email confirming my order
Then another to say it was being dispatched
A text to say it had arrived in store (yesterday) so I collected it and it's all ok but I don't think I'll order anymore incase it doesn't arrive.

Some of the stuff I got is even cheaper now but to be honest I got a good deal so I'm not too bothered.

I remember the uproar when Laura Ashley went into administration and people had ordered sofas and expensive items that never came as they made the warehouse staff redundant first and just sent any left over stock to the shops to sell off disregarding the fact the website was open and still taking customers orders which was awful.

For this reason I wouldn't personally order anything else - you can probably claim off credit cards but it's all extra hassle

Christmashorse · 20/11/2022 12:57

@OhIdoLike2bBesideTheSeaside I only ordered one item- raincoat.
I usually get Joules clothes in their EBay outlet which always has free delivery However this jacket wasn’t available on EBay so I ordered from their website.
I believe if ordered from EBay Joules outlets you get an extra protection from EBay.

I'm not surprised it's not your everyday shop.

Madcats · 16/12/2022 18:23

Just had an email to say that the Joules founder has teamed up with Next to save the company.

Whether or not this saves the shops is unclear, but the staff did seem reasonably happy about a fortnight ago when I popped into a shop.

LIZS · 16/12/2022 18:44

Our local shop has already closed down

Harebrain · 17/12/2022 09:25

All but 19 shops have been saved and are here to stay.
