Okay how do all these women have no VPL in gym leggings?

Do most women wear thongs or perhaps go commando?!

A thong makes me shudder with the discomfort

I like nice comfy pants thank you but it seems like I'm rare because no one seems to have visible pant lines in workout clips online or in real life.

I'm genuinely perplexed 😆

It's not about VPL, it's about comfort and being practical. Gym leggings, just like swimsuits are designed not to wear anything underneath. It sounds as if some people need to see a doctor with their discharge levels.

Unless your knickers are made of asbestos it is going to make very little difference anyway.

ShiningStarQueen · 11/11/2022 17:02

I can’t get worked up about VPL.

Sidge · 11/11/2022 17:08

@superplumb yeah thanks for the correction, I know I have discharge but I don’t have so much it leaks out when I’m working out.

I don’t give a shiny shite what other women do - whether they wear pants, thongs, nothing, have a VPL or not. I’m there to work out, not criticise anyone else’s clothing, VPLs, body type or vulval visibility.

I just prefer to wear nothing as I don’t like wearing pants under my gym leggings. They’re thick enough that I don’t display my genitals or pubes, I don’t leave wee or vaginal secretions on the equipment, and always wipe it down anyway as that’s what any responsible gym user should do.

Going commando isn’t “grim”, “vile” or “disgusting”. And for the record I can’t see why wearing a thong is any better, they hardly have any gusset to speak of!

It sounds as if some people need to see a doctor with their discharge levels.

Some of us get a fair bit during ovulation! Doesn’t smell bad and isn’t a weird colour. It is completely normal and healthy for those of us who get it. No need to try and shame women about their normal bodily processes.

Firethrice · 11/11/2022 18:40

I had to go commando for over a year to heal my HS sores, underwear causes friction which prevents healing - lots of people who have the same condition cannot wear underwear. They already feel pretty bad about their condition - pile on more with your "vile", "grim" and "disgusting" we all need more shame from your judgement. Happy are those who never have to worry about such things!

itssquidstella · 11/11/2022 18:49

Tezenis seamless micro fibre knickers!

“Grim” means absolutely nothing. As PP says, a double gusset is equivalent to leggings with a single gusset leggings. Cleaning machines afterwards is general courtesy.

But as for someone being knickerless in every day life with a skirt or dress (l suspect very few in the UK this time of year) that has no impact on anyone else. Aside from during periods, what exactly do these women have pouring out of them? I wonder whether they have been brought up to believe their vulvas are evil rather than the 8th wonder of the world. And certainly a lot pleasanter than lots of men’s armpits.

For the record, it is most likely that at her coronation Queen Victoria would have been knickerless. They are a relatively modern invention in life.

Nope... I was brought up to embrace my female bits! All women have discharge, tiny bits of pee, sweat etc.. Women not wearing knickers in skirts and dresses sit on things. It's gross. Or walk past while someone is sat down and give someone a view.

And whoever said women should see a doctor for having discharge 🤦🏻‍♀️ It's a healthy body process..

Wear decent leggings and it wont be too much of an issue.
I wear things because it looks and feels better, the thongs I have are just plain cotton and very comfortable

Emmabmumof3 · 12/04/2023 23:45

Honestly I just got a pair of ‘gymshark’ Leggings and they look bloody amazing if I’m honest. HOWEVER….. why do I always have a bloody camel toe? Why??? SOS

ThinkThings · 08/11/2022 22:48

When did we start calling knickers pants? I thought only Americans called them pants!

I have never used the word knickers!
In America pants are trousers

dementedpixie · 12/04/2023 23:51

I wear big granny support pants and a panty liner. Would never go commando

TempletonTheRat · 12/04/2023 23:57

I wear thongs. Every day. I don't own any regular knickers. I find regular knickers extremely uncomfortable and cringe at the thought of a VPL

mackthepony · 13/04/2023 02:22

Well this is all very surprising. No way could I get away with no pants, the chaff would be too much

I've been paying attention now (since this thread started in November) and at my gym I'm the only one with a VPL. I'll survive. 😃 Seems I'm the only woman there not doing barbell hip thrusts though and also the only one with a flat, saggy bum slipping off the end of my back. I do wonder if there's a connection, but as the barbell hip thrust stations are always full, I guess I'll just have to stick to squats and lunges. 😂

But I cannot for the life of me understand how the leggings with the slightly ruched bum seam, so that it fits in between the bum cheeks like a semi-wedgie, are comfortable.

Maybe the pp with cameltoe has a pair of this sort of leggings and needs to go up a size? It must be very uncomfortable.

I've also been paying a lot more attention to gym leggings in the shops. It's definitely not true that they all have a gusset or are thicker material. Not by a long shot. There actually seems to be a trend of ever thinner material. And I'm specifically talking about gym leggings. I've seen some leggings on Insta for about £100 and guess they must (surely?!) be thicker.

@ThinkThings Americans say panties for knickers, and pants for trousers.

Please no. Not panties. 🤮. Terrible word

Yes!!! What is with the leggings that scrunch up the arse crack?! The youth of today man, honestly.

Highly recommend the high waisted strong compression leggings by TLC Sport, they’re the only ones I buy for the gym, and also every day wear. No VPL and very smoothing, as well as squat proof, give my bum a bit of a lift as well!

sleepwhenidie · 13/04/2023 11:45

daretodenim - a step further (and weirder for me) is I’ve spotted quite a few pairs of leggings (no idea what make but all the same) that look as if the wearer has a thong underneath but it seems intentional, ie the fabric is shadowed slightly in a triangle from top of bum crack widening to the waistband. I am confused by this!
