Okay how do all these women have no VPL in gym leggings?

Do most women wear thongs or perhaps go commando?!

A thong makes me shudder with the discomfort

I like nice comfy pants thank you but it seems like I'm rare because no one seems to have visible pant lines in workout clips online or in real life.

I'm genuinely perplexed 😆

I wear thick leggings in the correct size so they are tight without being a second skin. I also buy underwear where the line is softened by being wide (like a wider waist band but also around the legs. Yes you can probably see a faint VPL if you look closely but honestly if that’s how close you are looking you will no doubt also notice something else you don’t approve of!

Well this has been a revelation!

Hasn’t it it!

Hasn’t it just. Damn autocorrect

Had no idea so many go pant less wow you learn something new every day ...I wear normal pants and normally leggings OP and have never been conscious of someone spotting my VPL. I will endeavour to give the equipment extra cleans now!!!!

SmokedHaddockChowder · 09/11/2022 07:13

I'm a runner, hiker and gym user and it's never once occurred to me not to wear pants! I wear them every time and have never experienced chafing.
I wear an expensive, thick pair of running leggins, so VPL is at a minimum.

emmathedilemma · 09/11/2022 07:24

Thongs. I’ve yet to find a pair of big pants that don’t ride up my bum so might as well start with them there!

finallydones · 09/11/2022 07:32

I would have thought no underwear would increase the chafing risk & leggings aren't often the most breathable of fabrics.

upinaballoon · 09/11/2022 07:35

I couldn't go to yoga without my knickers on but I have wondered about other people's smooth lines! (I know this thread is really about the gym but I know an 80-year old who alleges that many young women walk around the supermarket in tight leggings and no VPL.)

HairyMcLarie · 09/11/2022 07:40

Worriedddd · 08/11/2022 22:39

I don't care if I have VPL , don't people get a sweaty fanny and it goes on your gusset when going commando ? I can't tolerate that.

Well here's a TMI story. I'm a runner and once essentially got nappy rash up the bum and Danny

Cotton knickers basically soaking up loads of sweat and not 'wicking away'. Bloody painful.

Since then no knickers and right as rain as gym leggings 'wick' innit.

Nottodaty · 09/11/2022 07:42

I hadn’t really noticed at the gym. I just wear Vpl big pants or just wear pants - I’m fat so to be honest the hot sweaty menopausal women - a pant line is the least of her cares :)

Though once the hard work at the gym starts working I probably will stil wear pants and take no notice of anyone else pant line :)

Madamecastafiore · 09/11/2022 07:46

Buy leggings with a gusset and forget the pants.

Shesasuperfreak · 09/11/2022 07:49

I wear thongs until I'm on my period. So most probably thongs.

ExhaustedFlamingo · 09/11/2022 07:50

I never wear knickers under any variation of leggings. I don't ever buy the cheap, thin leggings so they're never see-through.

I like the thicker leggings with the wider waistband so they're pretty substantial. So whether I'm wearing them under a longline top or at the gym, I'm not feeling all bunched up and trying to discreetly pluck knickers out of my arse crack constantly.

I don't know what it is, but I've never found comfy knickers. Big, small, loose, - going up sizes even. Nothing works. Knickers always migrate and make me feel bunched up.

I honestly never stopped to consider the fact that some women might wear knickers with them 😅

Hop27 · 09/11/2022 07:51

@Liuckle - a panty liner will not save you from a sweat patch.....Nothing will save you from a sweat patch. I often look like I've wet myself.
Can also confirm that £150 lulu tights are not squat proof, so everyone could see my nude bamboo thong (really glad I got filmed on the ski erg for that one) 🤣
But honestly who cares...dress for comfort, many tights don't need undies, but some cheaper ones do, and if someone has noticed your VPL then they aren't working hard enough.

Giveaschitt · 09/11/2022 08:04

If you're going commando, a request from someone who might be behind you in a class - make sure they're squat proof....

Snoken · 09/11/2022 08:16

I usually wear Brazilian thongs or seemless knickers. Never go commando, that had never even occured to me.

CherryogDog · 09/11/2022 08:17

I'm firmly in the knickers camp lol. I have some Runderwear and they give me massive VPL but don't budge at all.
I bought some Equetech padded pants for horse riding (post menopause atrophy problems) but the gusset is wider than me, so they fold up and make me look like I've shoved a taco down there for a mid ride snack.
Bloody expensive things just sat in my knicker drawer now.

JoanThursday · 09/11/2022 08:20

Don't really care. Big pants all way! And if you've got patterned leggings, you can't see a vpl anyway.

soberfabulous · 09/11/2022 08:25

I'm surprised by no pants!

I have a variety of G-strings purely for this purpose. I exercise 4-5 times a week so I get though quite a lot.

midgetastic · 09/11/2022 08:26

I'm surprised any one looks and notices

DreamingofItaly2023 · 09/11/2022 08:27

I don’t wear pants with mine.

ThorsBedazzler · 09/11/2022 08:27

I went to a very busy pilates class and ended up behind someone who was going commando and non squat proof leggings. I didn't want to see someone else's crack as I did my cow and cat stretches but there you go.

I wear pants. Don't care about VPL at any point in my life. But I do wonder how camel.toe is avoided.

daretodenim · 09/11/2022 08:30

Always wear pants. Always wear panty liner. Always have a VPL. Always wear a very, very thin, stretchy black top tied around my waist too to cover the sweaty bum and VPL.

I don't actually care that much that I have a VPL - I'm not embarrassed to be wearing pants. But I don't want to show my sweaty bum, especially when doing things like pull ups -assisted 😉- where your back is to the room, so the top around waist means I don't have to think about it. Also use it as an inbuilt towel so I don't put a towel down on machines (still clean after use though).

There are plenty of younger women in leggings and crop/bra tops at my gym doing conspicuous bum workouts, but barely sweating and no cardio. I don't believe for one second they're all chafing in pants so go without! It's about looking good. Or more specifically having their bum look good to those they want to be looking at it. Which isn't a problem, I was similar when younger too, but let's not pretend it's something other than that with quite a lot of legging-wearing gym-goers in the weights section. 😉

KvotheTheBloodless · 09/11/2022 08:35

Commando, probs.

I usually have a VPL, I give zero shits who knows I'm wearing pants to the gym, I'd have thought most folk do!

Answerthedoor · 09/11/2022 08:44

No pants
