Okay how do all these women have no VPL in gym leggings?

Do most women wear thongs or perhaps go commando?!

A thong makes me shudder with the discomfort

I like nice comfy pants thank you but it seems like I'm rare because no one seems to have visible pant lines in workout clips online or in real life.

I'm genuinely perplexed 😆

Hmmm. My work outfit is gym leggings. I couldn’t possibly walk around in no knickers all day every day. Plus the washing!!

StarlightLady · 10/11/2022 13:03

Of course there are exceptions. But most people wash gym leggings after each gym session, hence knickers are rather redundant.

For goodness sake! Nobody is going to get ill at the gym because the person using a machine before them opted not to wear knickers.

Gym leggings often have a double gusset for a reason. Think of them as knickers with legs attached.

You don’t wear knickers under a swimming cossie. The fabric is similar.

Not get ill, it's just a bit grim.

Why is it grim? My gym leggings have a double layer gusset - so equivalent to wearing underwear, just made of properly wicking fabric. I definitely never have enough discharge to get through two layers, so we're just talking about sweat. And I would never leave a piece of gym equipment without properly cleaning it - so there would be no sweat on the equipment anyway.

CookPassBabtridge · 10/11/2022 22:20

That's fair enough then, I doubt everyone is as considerate as you.. I'm more thinking about normal leggings, thin leggings, shorts etc and it got me thinking about women who go about their daily lives pantsless in skirts and dresses etc.

Hmmm. Maybe I should be wiping down the equipment before I use it as well as after if everyone isn’t as considerate 😂

StarlightLady · 11/11/2022 05:27

“Grim” means absolutely nothing. As PP says, a double gusset is equivalent to leggings with a single gusset leggings. Cleaning machines afterwards is general courtesy.

But as for someone being knickerless in every day life with a skirt or dress (l suspect very few in the UK this time of year) that has no impact on anyone else. Aside from during periods, what exactly do these women have pouring out of them? I wonder whether they have been brought up to believe their vulvas are evil rather than the 8th wonder of the world. And certainly a lot pleasanter than lots of men’s armpits.

For the record, it is most likely that at her coronation Queen Victoria would have been knickerless. They are a relatively modern invention in life.

hugoagogo · 11/11/2022 07:01

Grin Queen Victoria would have been sporting at least six petticoats, not just a single layer of lycra/polyester.
I am a bit sad that this thread has disintegrated into people talking about how disgusting women's genitals are.Sad

Blueeyedgirl21 · 11/11/2022 08:58

fucking Hell, I spend a small fortune on very well made sweaty Betty leggings, they’re thick enough without underwear on and designed that way, breathable etc. If I had so much discharge it was making it’s way through the leggings to the gym equipment I’d be off to see my gp! Not normal surely !

Blueeyedgirl21 · 11/11/2022 09:01

@StarlightLady exactly , pretty sure most men in my gym emit much more foul bodily fluids from their pits and don’t think twice about coating the equipment and all who surround it with their macho masculine musk water as they work out in a tiny vest, like frig am I going to risk chafe, vpl and a wedgie by wearing knickers under my leggings, just because a tiny bit of moisture might escape my lady garden !

StarlightLady · 11/11/2022 09:09

@hugoagogo - You have emphasised my point but far more succinctly (thank you) there is nothing wrong, dirty, evil or nasty about female genitalia

StarlightLady · 11/11/2022 12:13

And, in addition, please consider here the message(s), you are sending out to your daughters. we do not want them growing up thinking their body parts are grim or nasty. We want them to become body confident proud you women.

Phrenologistsfinger · 11/11/2022 12:43

I am really fond of my body, including my vulva, but I still wear underwear (for comfort) and feel a bit grossed out by other peoples’ seepage on equipment I am using, personally. Whatever their sex!

But this is probably another good excuse to avoid the gym tbh…

NearLifeExperience · 11/11/2022 14:44

People should wear whatever they feel comfortable in while at the gym, as long as they are decent. And gym leggings are decent.

I'm a knicker wearer myself, but see nothing wrong in not wearing them under something else if that is someone's preference.

vinetbrie · 11/11/2022 15:25

I was at the gym with my friend a couple of weeks ago and there was a large - ish lady wearing very tight leggings there who was obviously not wearing knickers as she had a very obvious camel toe (actually more of a moose hoof.)

My friend said that it looked the lady was wearing "mumble pants."

When I looked puzzled she said, "You can see the lips move but you can't make out what they're saying." 😆

NearLifeExperience · 11/11/2022 15:48

Lovely @vinetbrie .

Can't say I spend a lot of time looking at other people's genitals myself, far less commenting on them in an off-the-cuff witty way.

The unnecessary mention if the woman's size
was a particularly nice touch; large women are much more worthy of ridicule, after all Hmm

Stellaris22 · 11/11/2022 15:51

@vinetbrie why the need to be so offensive? Why are you at the gym judging and mocking other women's bodies? Maybe focus on working out rather than making nasty comments.

vinetbrie · 11/11/2022 15:54

Sorry. I should have explained that I'm about thirteen stone and my friend is even bigger, hence the visits to the gym. We frequently joke about our weight.

thecatneuterer · 11/11/2022 15:55

I never have a VPL, because I've sussed how to avoid it. I also like comfy pants and tend to buy those supermarket multipack cotton lycra ones - I like the shorts style. And the trick for avoiding VPL when wearing them? I simply buy them two sizes bigger than my normal trouser size, which means they just sort of sit on my skin and don't dig in anywhere, but also somehow don't fall down. Honestly, try it.

waterlego · 11/11/2022 16:05

I couldn’t go knickerless. Would be uncomfortable for me. My vulva is a bit more complicated these days than it used to be when I was young and child free. 😬

I wear thongs with my gym kit. Absolutely hate them but it’s usually only for a few hours at a time so I’ve got used to it now.

Some of the Brazilian style pants in the very thin fabric also work.

formulatingAresponse · 11/11/2022 16:15

I wear Sweaty Betty's and I had no idea it was a thing to wear no knickers, no idea at all they're designed that way.
It seems a bit odd and not entirely sure I can personally get my head around not wearing knickers but I do really hate wearing pants and a liner which get very wet and sweaty after exercising.
I'll experiment to see if there is a favourable difference for me

waterlego · 11/11/2022 16:18

Yes, I’m also not sure about wearing a panty liner during a workout. The one time I tried it (I was at the end of my period and had light spotting), I worked pretty hard and sweated a lot. When I got home and got undressed, said pantry liner had completely turned itself upside down and the sticky side had adhered to my pubes. I still don’t really understand how that happened, but clearly my undercarriage must shift about a bit during my workout 😂

True story, doing a particularly challenging spin class, commando, in a thin pair of gym leggings. Looked down during a water break, feeling badass...

Bush sprouting through crotch area Blush

Knickers always nowadays.

🤣🤣🤣🤣😱

superplumb · 11/11/2022 16:54

Sidge · 08/11/2022 22:35

I don’t have discharge and I wipe the machines after use anyway (standard gym etiquette) - everyone sweats on them.

I doubt a pair of knickers under your leggings is going to magically stop your sweaty bum leaving moisture on a gym machine.

All women do. It's your vagina cleaning itself.

superplumb · 11/11/2022 16:55

You non pant wearing ladies are freaking me out I alewady worry about sweat now it's traces off wee and discharge too. Just wear pants! Who cares about vpl.
