Okay how do all these women have no VPL in gym leggings?

Do most women wear thongs or perhaps go commando?!

A thong makes me shudder with the discomfort

I like nice comfy pants thank you but it seems like I'm rare because no one seems to have visible pant lines in workout clips online or in real life.

I'm genuinely perplexed 😆

I couldn’t care less if I have VPL. Knickers all the way!🩲🩲

Doesn’t the commando approach mean the gusset seam sits in your groove? I’d have thought that was uncomfortable.

Hopeislost · 09/11/2022 16:22

A surprising number of women at my gym seem to go commando!

I wear M&S no vpl thongs usually or Cheeky Wipes thong period pants if I'm on.

Phrenologistsfinger · 09/11/2022 16:32

Big knickers always! Commando is ick for me, doesn’t feel right. Pants under leggings or tights, pyjamas, in all possible scenarios!

My gym leggings are seam free! I don’t think they are designed to be worn with knickers.

OneMoreWish · 09/11/2022 20:02

Wow I've never thought of not wearing knickers - do men go commando too?

Mumtobabyhavoc · 09/11/2022 20:10

Thong. Always. Commando, particularly in gym wear, seems beyond disgusting.

EarringsandLipstick · 09/11/2022 20:24

Amazed about the non-pants wearing cohort 🤢 I do think that's pretty gross.

I also second wearing good quality leggings, underwear won't show through.

I wear pants, not 'big pants' but Brazilians or shorts, no riding up, probably some minimum visibility but nothing obvious. Never had an issue when running either.

ilovepixie · 09/11/2022 20:31

But don't your bits rub all over the place without pants?

YellowMeeple · 09/11/2022 20:40

I am so confused as to why this is being described as disgusting. All my gym shorts/leggings have a gusset so two layers of fabric. That said when I am at the gym I am sweating that in itself is pretty gross- which is why wiping down gym equipment is so important, but I can’t see how the presence of knickers would make sweaty me any less gross.

What on earth do you mean by rubbing all over the place? What is the difference from a rubbing perspective between knickers and exercise gear. It’s still a layer of fabric

Glumbums · 09/11/2022 20:52

Don't all you commando people get a patch of discharge on the outside of your leggings when ovulating etc.? I woukdnt have though they absorb normal body stuff like some decent cotton pants

SagittariusDwarf · 09/11/2022 21:03

It would never occur to me to not wear knickers under gym stuff! I have thick leggings so don't think people can see my pants anyway but even if they can, I really don't care. Going without seems off to me. Especially when not everyone cleans the machines after use

On the outside?? This feels like TMI for a public forum but any discharge definitely stays very much on the inside in my experience. However I am not spending so long in the gym/out running that we’re talking any quantity of anything (other than sweat!)

YellowMeeple · 09/11/2022 21:08

I agree not cleaning the machine is gross, knickers or otherwise. But other people not cleaning the machine doesn’t make my lack of knickers gross any more than me wearing knickers would make not cleaning the machines acceptable.

I can accept that not wearing knickers and not cleaning the machines is marginally more gross than wearing knickers and not cleaning the machines, but it’s marginal as not cleaning the machine is the problem here

JimmyKrankie · 09/11/2022 21:10

No pants!

Sidge · 08/11/2022 21:57

I go commando. No need for knickers under a decent pair of gym leggings.

Defo this. Much comfier

SirenSays · 09/11/2022 21:24

Seamless thongs always. They're so comfortable. Doesnt matter which brand of leggings I wear Lululemon, gymshark, Nike, sweaty Betty..I still won't go commando in the gym. Do people think I'm not wearing pants?!

Shesasuperfreak · 09/11/2022 22:08

Once your had kids vaginally how can you not wear some kind of underwear when working out? Doesn't your labia chafe on the material?

Not gross. The exact opposite. When I wore pants I got major chafing when running long distances. Wet cotton near your bits hold the wetness and gave me appalling rashes. Good running/yoga tights dry quickly and wick away sweat and dampness. It's what they are designed for.

EarringsandLipstick · 10/11/2022 08:14

@HairyMcLarie

I guess it's personal preference - and when running it's obvious not going to impact anyone else. I've run for years, my pants aren't cotton but I've never had the problems you've described.

I don't agree that the leggings are intentionally designed for wearing without underwear; underwear still serves a purpose!

And it is gross to be sharing equipment wearing no underwear - I definitely stand by that. No one I know does it thankfully.

Very good point, I thought the same without the guts to post it!

Madeyoulook · 10/11/2022 10:16

I read that labiaplasty has become a far more common surgery recently with the trend for tight sports leggings.

I have not experienced this and I haven’t noticed any difference since having DS.

Youcancallmeirrelevant · 10/11/2022 10:29

No VPL knickers. If there are genuinely people who aren't wearing any knickers that is grim 🤢

StarlightLady · 10/11/2022 11:13

For goodness sake! Nobody is going to get ill at the gym because the person using a machine before them opted not to wear knickers.

Gym leggings often have a double gusset for a reason. Think of them as knickers with legs attached.

You don’t wear knickers under a swimming cossie. The fabric is similar.
