Math how exciting for your DS. You must be so proud,

Silkierabbit · 14/03/2023 21:45

Thanks Acorns Glad your kids enjoyed the sledging.

Congratulations to your DS Math that's amazingly well done.

Rowing trip sounds lovely for your DD MissC I am waiting for rowing to start here, its mostly 1 April.

Have DS home again which is lovely. Saw him yesterday there and Maudsley professor and team and stayed at Holiday Inn overnight and swam 100 lengths yesterday and 68 today, only 15 metre pool but love that pool as we often are only ones in it or just one other. Had a nice meal at hotel last night and breakfast in bed this morning. Just had a Chinese, had duck in pancakes. And more coffee with marshmallows, I feel DH is judging me but I don't care. 😂I also had a Teams meeting re education.

Maudsley was interesting, it's apparently a very famous professor and 3 extra staff came just to watch like a fan club of his. He said what he thought then said it was OK if I wanted to challenge him. So I did then he said he could not work with me if I disagreed with anything he said. 😂All got resolved and he's good. The plan is now continue to wean off Lorazepam which will end something like end March or first week April which is injections and reason why has to be in hospital now. Then he said an anti depressant covertly in drinks and a minimal dose of a very light anti psychotic to make him not oppose professionals. He also said the anti phychotics the first hospital did for a few days were 5 million times stronger and along with police handcuffing could have caused inability to move for 3 months. He thinks ds has a condition where he can only recognise 0 or 1 or 9 or 10 with physical and mental health, think that's right but did not know there was a name for it, started with a. He did diagnosis there and then and said needs education back. He said the anti depressant and anti phychotics will normally take 3 to 4 months and may need to stay in hospital with home leave for that which was sad to hear. Though having him home 4 days a week makes a huge difference and it's not impossible could be home in a few weeks but less likely now.

Floof is very trilly. He now has giant tunas as he is 1. Ward Review tomorrow.

MissConductUS · 15/03/2023 18:24

That's great news about your DS Silkie. It sounds like real progress. The three acolytes following the professor around were likely psychiatric residents in training. I hope they sought your permission to observe the interaction. By the way, the "you're free to disagree with me as long as you don't actually disagree with me" business is quite common with doctors, especially at a teaching hospital.

The dosing with antipsychotics is tricky. If they overtreated him, I'm not surprised it made things worse. It sounds like you have a good plan going forward. It shouldn't have been this much hard work, though.

I stayed home for the Miele technician. Good news, the machine does not need a major repair or replacement. He hooked a laptop up to the washer and was able to see all of the internal indicators. There was some detergent buildup in the machine, which I need to run a sanitizing cycle with no soap periodically to get rid of. He also cleaned two small plastic screens that the water passes through. The screen for the cold water had some mineral buildup on it, so that might have caused the problem. Water in the trap is normal, like the U-shaped pipe draining a sink. If the fault occurs again in the next three months, they'll come out and look at it again for free. The cost was quite reasonable. The technician was lovely and very helpful. I'm so pleased I don't have to replace my Miele.

Silkies I think the Maudsley professor is on your side. It is unusual in the extreme for a doctor to even hint that other doctors made a mistake. This one has most certainly done that. Hoping DS responds well to the anti psychotics and anti depressant.

MissC that's great news about your washing machine. Would white vinegar once a month take care of your hard water and mineral deposits?

The spanking new AI washing machine we now have here in the basement requires a self clean once a month. Downstairs neighbour has been putting laundry pods in the detergent drawer, which leave a sticky residue.

lola leaving the baby in the hands of people you know and trust must give you a good deal of peace of mind.

MargaretThursday - exciting news about the electric car. Will you have to wait long to get the adaptations done? Congratulations to your DD for passing her test.

Iwandered, hope you'll hear something soon.

Thanks to all for your good wishes wrt DS. We did a little match dance when he got the news.

Acornsandleaves · 15/03/2023 23:45

Congratulations to your DS Math

Great news about your washing machine MissC. We're getting a new dishwasher tomorrow as our old one completely broke, I'm looking forward to trying it out

Glad there's a plan for your DS Silkies, I hope his treatment goes well. Was the A word alexithymia maybe? (Difficulty recognising/describing your emotions)

Lola001 · 16/03/2023 09:38

Today's rough already but thankfully coffee was invented.

@Lola001 agreed... had just made coffee when the electrical outlet failed. Then a second one wasn't working. Flipped the breaker - nothing. Awaiting electrician appt now. Luckily two others are fine, but highly inconvenient. It's a two coffees day. 🤷‍♀️😼

Mumtobabyhavoc · 16/03/2023 16:47

Unknown how I managed to quote original post. Unintentional. 🤦‍♀️

Lola001 · 16/03/2023 17:25

Two coffees? That's before 9am here!!

I think my body is going to crash when I'm back to work and no longer filling my days with coffee shops!

HelenaJustina · 16/03/2023 18:04

I get significantly more coffee at work than at home Lola! Half way through my busy evening, one swim training taxi run and a weekly food shop to do.

Lola001 · 16/03/2023 18:17

Hope the luck of the yellow label is on your side tonight!

I'm a big fan of coffee and brew some pretty posh Peet's Coffee at home. I make a cup when I get up and then brew enough to fill a medium sized Thermos bottle, nuke it until it's pipping hot, then bring that to work. I just poured a cup and it's still coming out of the thermos with steam rising off it.

Coffee shops are so expensive. Starbucks is $5 for a medium Americano. It's great, but not economical other than as a treat.

Mum, don't fret it. It's a good reminder that this thread is almost full.

Now that my Miele has a clean bill of health, I'm planning a laundry marathon for this weekend.

@cassiatwenty and all
Hello, we had a very busy time with DD ans DS and my chemo was delayed because of my blood count, so I am off to the hospital tomorrow morning.
I will - if still needed / wanted - provide links to learning sources for all ages as soon as I am back out.

Lemonsandlemonade · 16/03/2023 21:22

Things do seem to be looking up for your DS Silkie.

Hope you’re Ok Prok.

Glad you fixed your washing machine MissC

DH’s nan passed away today.

MissConductUS · 16/03/2023 22:26

Good luck with your treatment tomorrow Prok.

Sorry to hear about your DH's nan, Lemons. How is your DH holding up?

Mr. and Mrs. Duck made an appearance on the reservoir today. You can see that we still have some snow on the mountains. They were too far apart to get in one picture.

Spent the afternoon sledding with Havoc who was having none of it when it came to walking back up the hill after each run. Consequently, Mummy had quite a workout today...good thing for that extra coffee this morning. 😼
Weather was gorgeous so can't complain (also because I was out playing).
Made risotto for dinner to go with left-over roasted chicken last night so am properly full.
Havoc must be over-tired as is still bouncing and only stopping to say, Hi, hi, hi. I've decided to not try and force bedtime...

Thinking of you Silkie and Prok.

HelenaJustina · 17/03/2023 06:35

All the best today Prok thinking of you

cassiatwenty · 17/03/2023 12:13

Dear @Prokupatuscrakedatus

I'm so sorry you're going through a stressful time.

I'm keeping you in my thoughts, and I hope things get calm with DD and DS, and I'm sending you positive energy whilst you'll be in the hospital.

No need to think about any German learning resources (I already found some cool stuff that I can share with you, just for fun, like soaps I've found on Youtube)

Take all the time you need, and we'll be here for you 🤗

Silkierabbit · 17/03/2023 13:06

Prok Hope chemo goes OK and just rest when you are back.

Lemons Sorry to hear about your DH's Nan.

Thanks Havoc Sledging sounds good fun.

Thanks MissC Glad your Miele is fixed.

Thanks *Acorn. Yes alexithymia was it. And I think I've found the drug names too now.

Thanks Math Yes I think the professor is on our side and he was the first person who was honest with us about what happened in the first hospital and the impact it had, just wish we had it in writing. Especially since the plan is on discharge for the psychiatrist that I think prescribed the medicine which caused harm will be DSs psychiatrist on release to home.

We had a supposed discharge CPA (health meeting re care plan) and hospital opened saying doing much better at home than hospital and want to return to home asap, last day of lorazepam is 2nd April. And then cahms psychiatrist comes in and is we need a CTO to immediately send him back to hospital if he refuses any medication under a section without a need for anyone to sign off. And says not sure if cahms can help when had previously been agreed what they were doing. And we suspect he's the psychiatrist who prescribed the anti psychotic which the Maudsley doctor described as 5 million times more powerful than the one he is prescribing and that he believes sent him into catatonia where he could not move for 3 months along with police handcuffing. So that was big issue one. Then the LA started saying they weren't providing a school which was big issue 2. It was awful. And a next hospital meeting made for 27 April which presumably means no chance of him being out by then. And he is so distressed in there he smashed his ipad into pieces (the expensive one too) and the battery caught fire so now he has an ipad ban in there and is back to nothing to do. So he'll be off doing fire alarms again now I expect. Argh.

MissConductUS · 17/03/2023 14:00

The Miele is not fixed. It gave us the same error and stopped the cycle last night. They are coming back next week for the free follow up visit. I'm afraid they're going to tell us that they only thing they can do now is replace the main control board, which would be quite expensive, and no guarantee of resolving it.

Morning all 🌤️ So far another beautiful day here on the coast. Finishing a cafe latte and English muffin with peanut butter and peach jam (Brits here might just say 'muffin'? Or my guess is would be redundant.) Watching Kelly and Ryan and Hanna Waddingham is the guest and looking fantastic! Goals, as they say.
Havoc, in the high-chair with a bottle of warm milk and toast with PB which I've cut into bite-sized squares, is throwing the toast onto to floor and saying, "uh-oh" each time. I remind that it isn't an "uh-oh" when done on purpose... 🤦‍♀️
Thinking it might be a good idea to go swimming this morning before it gets busy. It's Spring Break here, so rec facilities are busy during the week with the extra kiddies.

Havoc is learning to sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, but says something more like Deedle deedle instead of twinkle twinkle. Last night I sang "Deedle deedle ha ha ha" ... guess what DC is singing now?

Lemonsandlemonade · 18/03/2023 07:52

Agh lost my last message.

Am so sorry Silkie. No advice but thinking of you and your poor DS.

MissC sorry your Miele isn’t as fixed as you thought.

Prok 🌻

Havok now the educator in me would say baby havoc is showing great trajectory schemas and is working out all sorts of things like gravity and how fast and far things fall from high chair. The mum in me would be trying not to show how annoying it is! 😊

Mumtobabyhavoc · 19/03/2023 04:42

@Lemonsandlemonade the mini wand vacuum comes in handy! 😂

sproutsandparsnips · 19/03/2023 09:53

Good morning all.
Silkie, it all sounds very frustrating but sounds like some progress is being made. Poor DS.
Lemons sorry about DH's grandmother, hope he is ok.
Prok, thinking of you.
Watching the birds on the feeder, I think they are starting to nest as Mr and Mrs Blackbird are both around. He is very bold and beady eyed.

MissConductUS · 19/03/2023 10:38

Mum, I think what you and I call an English muffin would be a scone to those on the other side of the pond, but I'm not sure. I remember the food throwing stage and it is annoying.

The Miele seems less likely to stop with the error if I'm doing a warm water cycle, which doesn't make sense as the fault seems to happen when the final rinse starts, which is always cold water.

DD just texted me that she has returned to uni from South Carolina. They must have driven overnight and slept on the bus. Hopefully she'll be on our weekly Zoom call tonight.
