Had a lovely day yesterday with DS and DH we went sledging and made a snowman which was great. Sometimes the most random things are the loveliest.

Miele are expensive here too MissC due to the quality. 10 years isn’t long for a Miele.

Had a curry take away last night ( not a curry fan) but DH loves them. I tried something different which was like minty lamb it was nice.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 11/03/2023 08:38

Looks like last week's snow was winter's last hurrah. I spent the afternoon sledding with DC at a local ski hill. It was snowing up there while raining in the city below. The sun came out as well and it was beautiful. Did errands after and bought a giant chocolate bar with hazelnuts which I dug into on the drive home.

IWanderedLonely · 11/03/2023 08:56

About 9" I think Miss.
I should have been working this morning, facilitating a meeting but it was cancelled so I'm still in bed drinking tea. I've had real sugar cravings this week, eaten so much junk, I don't want to get on the scales.

HelenaJustina · 11/03/2023 18:54

3 of my DC joined me for a walk this afternoon, which was surprising but delightful! Now need to catch up on housework…

MissConductUS · 11/03/2023 19:54

Lemons, I'm hoping it's just a clog somewhere or a new water pump. If it's going to cost a lot to fix, I might just get a new one. This is our second Miele washer. The first lasted 16 years. The motor burned out, and we decided to replace it. We got it when we moved into our first house together. I've had a look at the new ones, and they're not as wildly expensive as I thought they'd be. I'm not a big curry fan either.

Iwandered, with that much snow it should be around for a while. How nice for you that your meeting was canceled. I was afraid to get on the scale after my trip to Orlando, but it wasn't as bad as I feared.

We didn't get any snow, so I got the shopping done with no problems. I got a loaf of Irish soda bread at the posh Italian supermarket in honor of St. Patrick's day.

Ah loving as usual hearing what you are all up to.
Glad DS home Silkie.
The weather here precludes a walk Helena.

sproutsandparsnips · 11/03/2023 22:59

Oops sorry posted too soon!
Lovely pics Miss!
Watching some old Montalbanos currently Helena.
Been very lazy today - should have been working on my assignment but only managed a bit, got distracted by the rugby - well done Wales, poor performance England.....

Acornsandleaves · 12/03/2023 00:09

Misconduct no snow ploughs here, the UK is pretty rubbish with snow (or at least England is). Everything just grinds to a halt and we wait for it to thaw! It's due to be milder tomorrow, so it shouldn't last much longer. Fingers crossed your washing machine is just clogged.

Iwandered tea in bed sounds like a perfect morning. I'm avoiding the scales too. I calculated my BMI last week and found that I'm within one point of being obese, so I'm trying to eat more healthily but finding it hard to resist chocolate!

DS's football is cancelled tomorrow so we've got a nice lazy Sunday, just need take him for his second COVID vaccination

IWanderedLonely · 12/03/2023 09:30

Acorns I try to eat healthily, but then ruin it in the evening with chocolate and jelly sweets. I used to be slim before menopause Confused
No plans for today, if I can be arsed I'll bake - we'll see.
Still not heard anything about scan, still feel well, hoping it's some unexplained blip.

HelenaJustina · 12/03/2023 17:45

@sproutsandparsnips nothing nicer on a grey day! I may indulge this evening…

Lemonsandlemonade · 12/03/2023 18:38

DH has been with his DGM today, she is very poorly and hadn’t been given long left SIL has been with her and ‘forgot’ to mention it to my DH and her cousin. Huge backstory but am going NC again with her.

Silkierabbit · 12/03/2023 20:17

DS was here which was lovely then took him back quite early as hospital need him back by 10am and its 1.5 hours away.

Collected some new hats, and really like them. Hair is coming back all over the place from chemo, half straight, half curls. I really dislike the curls so cut it shorter and its all straight now but too short so back to hats. DH even noticed one matched my cardigan. I love that one its light pink and embroidered like my cardigan.

Booked a short break in the Azores for my forthcoming 50th. Lovely spa hotel in Furnas. We fly direct from local airport but back its via Porto so been looking for places to stay there.

Had Sunday lunch and now having milky coffee with marshmallows.

Floof has been eating invisible tuna, apparently 2 tins by 10am was not enough. He also jumped off the wardrobe and landed in his tuna bowl. He is so happy and he went to sleep with DS. He is so trilly and loves tail complements it makes him bounce his tail and blink. He knows he is beautiful and he is so proud of his tail, sometimes he puts a paw over it like nobody steal this tail.

We go down to hospital tomorrow to meet Maudsley, a leading professor is coming to chat with us and see DS and team there but sounds like they are in agreement with discharge to home soon plan.

Acornsandleaves · 12/03/2023 22:53

Sorry to hear that Lemons

Silkies glad DS visit went well, I hope he is discharged home soon. The holiday sounds lovely

MissConductUS · 13/03/2023 00:36

Lemons, I' so sorry to hear about your DH's GM. My DH does not have a great relationship with his sister. He was named as the executor of her estate because she's a airhead he has more financial expertise and she resents it. We did our weekly Zoom call with her tonight, and she's being treated for low blood cell count (red and white cells), so she's rather poorly at the moment. Her diet isn't great, so we hope it's a vitamin deficiency. Last year she moved four hours away so there's not a lot we can do to support her. I dread the day when she becomes seriously ill.

Silkie, that's great about the visit. It sounds like his discharge plan is coming together.

We lost an hour today thanks to the shift to daylight savings time, which is a bit rubbish. DD is in South Carolina for her spring break rowing trip and presumably having a fine time.

We have a winter storm warning for Tuesday, 6-8 inches of snow expected with strong winds. I'm glad the Miele bloke is coming on Wednesday. I'm going to ring the appliance dealer we've bought them from in the past to see what the availability of the new models is incase we decide this one isn't worth fixing. Appliances were so hard to get during covid.

mathanxiety · 13/03/2023 02:07

Hope your appliance troubles will soon be over, MissC. I've seen a lot of appliance delivery trucks plying the local streets lately. I suspect there's a lot of pent-up demand. My LL recently installed a state of the art washing machine in the basement, which she apparently had to wait in line for. Hope your GM in law's health problems turn out to be something easily cured. My DM had a B12 deficiency a few years ago but bounced back after treatment.

Silkies - I hope your Maudsley meeting goes well and that DS will soon be back where he belongs. Glad to hear your hair is growing back! Has it ever been curly before?

We've had a weekend of 'wintry mix' here - snow, rain, cold and damp. No surprises, really, for the time of year. It's why I usually skip St. Patrick's Day festivities.

Lola001 · 13/03/2023 06:19

Almost time to go back to work after maternity leave here - a very mixed bag of emotions and struggling to sleep tonight over it.

MissConductUS · 13/03/2023 20:47

How did your mat leave go, @Lola001 ? It is a hard transition.

I rang the Miele dealer this morning. They have two Miele washers in stock. Both are the very top of the line/most expensive model with a touch screen, wifi, etc. I'm hoping the current one is fixable.

Lola001 · 13/03/2023 21:53

@MissConductUS it's been lovely probably wasted lots of time but it's been nice I'm so ready to be Lola again not just Mum, mmmm hot drinks and a wee when I want!! Thank you for asking x

MissConductUS · 13/03/2023 23:00

Lola, it is nice not to be the sole carer for the child. Is this your first? Who will be watching your little one while you work?

I had a doula come to the house for a few hours a day for two months when I had my second. It was so nice being able to take a shower and nap for bit.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 14/03/2023 03:57

@Silkierabbit mmm, coffee with marshmallows - I've done that! I've also topped an americano or a cafe latte with sweetened whipped cream ...😋
Your hat sounds pretty. ☺️

MissConductUS · 14/03/2023 13:24

It's snowing today, so all of us are working from home. It's a bit above freezing, so nothing is sticking on the driveway or road in front of the house. We will have to shovel the deck at some point. We've had no snow all winter, until last Tuesday, and now again. It's like getting a late delivery.

OP posts:
mathanxiety · 14/03/2023 17:25

We had a day of mixed snow and rain yesterday, with blue skies and cold temps today. There are patches of ice everywhere. The storm socking the US northeast looked impressive on the weather forecast last evening.

DS got word yesterday that he matched to a medical residence. He'll find out where he'll spend his next three years on Friday. His graduation robes arrived yesterday too.

MissConductUS · 14/03/2023 17:59

Congratulations on the fabulous news re your son, Math. Cake

I've been on Teams calls this morning with people 20-30 miles north of me and it's below freezing there. They have all snow, not melting on the roads. They have about 6" of snow with more to come.

She is my first and only, a rainbow unfortunately. A relative will be having her which I'm forever greatful for, does take some lip biting and tolerance but whilst she's so small I'd rather her with relatives than in a formal nursery.

MargaretThursday · 14/03/2023 18:58

Our electric car that we've been waiting for for over a year has arrived! DD (who passed her test about 8 months ago, will soon be able to drive when we've sorted the adaptions out for her.
