Floof was chatting to me by his water bowl, if I call him clever boy he chats but he appears to be of little brain. He is terrified of water and as he was chatting he put his paw in the water then got a look of horror that he now had wet paw. We consoled him with a extra kitten tuna.

echt · 21/02/2023 22:22

Wow, Shrove Tuesday passed me by, and it's now Ash Wednesday here. Pancakes would have been a thing when DH was alive, though he was a purist. so only lemon juice and sugar.
Instead I had a steamed tuna steak and a green bean salad from my veggie patch. The tuna was bloody awful, so won't be doing that again.

sproutsandparsnips · 21/02/2023 22:53

Silkie that is good news!
I have been in work for the last 2 days and taking DSs to my parents for a couple of days tomorrow. Need to pack though. Boys will be bereft of their Xboxes......
We will go to museum and play monopoly and DS2 will get new togs.

Silkierabbit · 21/02/2023 23:06

Have a wonderful time Sprouts I remember DS saying somewhere with no WiFi was like a near death experience 😂I pointed out I had an entire childhood with no WiFi.

DS has had a bath.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 22/02/2023 01:20

We had quite a bit of hail this afternoon and might get snow tonight.

@Prokupatuscrakedatus I hope you are feeling ok?
@Silkierabbit nice to hear your DS is visiting. I hope you are managing with everything. I imagine the swimming and lovely Floof help.

Silkierabbit · 22/02/2023 01:56

Thanks Havoc Swimming and Floof do help though Floof is trilling a lot at 1.55am and has also got rabbits hay all over my bedroom and I get hay-fever. But he's so lovely. Snow sounds nice.

MargaretThursday · 22/02/2023 20:25

Aw! Floof sounds very cute.

Silkierabbit · 23/02/2023 20:38

Thanks MargaretThursday He is such a sweet cat.

Are you in Florida yet MissC

Had a meeting re DS yesterday with different agencies and one was saying they could not do a report without the other doing a report and then that one said they could not do a report without other one doing it first. I moaned and was asked if I would like therapy to deal with uncertainty and I said no I'ld like you both to do your reports and a discharge plan for DS. Education is holding for both these reports. Does appear to be moving today after my rant. 😂

Then went into ward review and it started with doctor saying I understand from my colleague you've just been in the biggest waste of time meeting ever. Though there are many of those, can't believe how many meetings there are and they all overlap and little gets done due to so many meetings.

Agreed can have DS Saturday and Sunday and go down to Holiday Inn on Friday night to stay overnight first and go swimming as well. DS has an infection but hope he will be better by then. Think it could be as he has no soap there or water or hand gel. They turn water off as he plays with it. No idea why no soap though possibly plays with that too. Nothing else to do there really.

They are reducing his lorazepam from current 6.5mgs a day by 1 mg a week down to 1mg which should end 31 March I estimate. So that might be date we can have him home from if they don't add more meds and he comes off OK. Professor Santosh at Maudsley is advising them now and he's apparently famous. We meet him mid March. They are at least about to start discharge plan writing now.

MissConductUS · 23/02/2023 21:30

Good news that they are tapering his meds Silkie.

I have arrived. The hotel is huge but lovely. We're meeting for a group dinner in a bit.

Have a nice dinner MissC Lovely pool and weather

halfpasteleven · 23/02/2023 22:44

Silkie** I'm hoping this discharge plan gets written.
Asap.

Miss, it looks fabulous in Florida- would love some blue skies and sunshine- we did have that this morning but it was freezing!
Hope you enjoy the dinner.

My car was in for a service today so I was at home with DD.. nowhere to go and no way of going anywhere anyway and it was a day of hanging out and pottering and just enjoying her.
Bliss.

How lovely Miss hope the work is as enjoyable as the setting!

Great news about DS silkie you are being so strong for your boy, keep fighting!

I’m glad it’s Friday, but I’m staring at a very busy weekend. I think I’ll be glad it’s Monday again and get back to work for a rest!

IWanderedLonely · 24/02/2023 16:40

Florida looks lovely Miss
Hope you have a great weekend with DS Silkies
I have had a day off today and spent it cleaning our bedroom. Sorted out a pile of clothes that no longer go over my backside to put on Vinted. Now thinking about what to make for tea. . .

Silkierabbit · 24/02/2023 21:40

Glad you had a lovely day Half

Florida trip looks fabulous MissC

Hope weekend is good Helena

Well done Iwandered

Just at Holiday Inn been swimming saw Ds dropped him a kfc they give us free Starbucks now go so much. Just having hot chocolate

echt · 24/02/2023 21:58

I spent part of Friday evening on the phone to the DWP sorting out NI top-ups and a claim I'd put in two years ago which was still outstanding. They found it and saw it had never been actioned. Hmm Now stamped urgent. We'll see.

Got to say, on the whole I find the UK side very helpful, but then I don't ring in my daytime, so can pootle about at home, cooking dinner/ having a livener, while waiting for the phone to be picked up.

mathanxiety · 25/02/2023 01:18

MissC hope your trip is going well. That dessert looks lovely.

Helena hope you get a little time to unwind all the same.

We're having frozen pizza and spinach salad for dinner tonight. There were three almost simultaneous traffic accidents and other emergencies requiring fire department, police, and ambulance attendance (according to local FB) just as I was getting back from work today and traffic was completely gridlocked on all the main streets. It's normally heavy at rush hour anyway, but today was ridiculous. So I ducked into a supermarket as soon as I drew abreast of the car park and found the cheese pizza was on sale. I could hear sirens from every direction. Hope nobody was seriously hurt.

Deathraystare · 25/02/2023 01:51

A couple of days ago we had a patient come in and as is very usual no one knew what ward. I phoned around one ward told me they were at max capacity so Deffo not expecting anyone . Another ward were short staffed and had appeared to let a patient answer but I later found out it is the patient phone! We have recently had a new phone system onstalled.

For some reason the ambulance crew wanted me to ring the hospital he had come from and ask for Sara X. If you have ever tried to ring a hospital only to find an automated switchboard you now gave my sympathy!!!! One of those where you find yourself screening the same name over and over again I wanted Sara X in A&E but was put through to Sara Y In Midwifery!. She put me through to A&E but no answer. I then asked the damn robot voice for Accident and Emergency knowing if I just said A &E they would probably think I said Pharmacy! Whoever Sara X was had gone home. I was through to the reception and they had all gone home!!

Behind the scenes and unknown to me, the Bleepgolder/ nurse in charge who originally had no info on this; must have phoned round and got in touch with a human being because I found out later after getting very sweary with that robot, that the patient was indeed meant to go to the ward that had no room.... Ah well, it amused the patient to listen to me get very sweary (not very professional I know) with the damn robot!!

@Silkierabbit Floof reminds me of the time our first cat was drinking in next door's pond. Her tail slipped in the water. She turned around and whacked it!!! Damn I miss that cat!!

Apologies for having that taken down. I posted another dessert photo that outed the name of a colleague by showing his place card.

We had another lovely dinner last night and I got another swim ion after my meeting ended.

I'm at the airport waiting for my flight to board. It's been a nice trip but I'm looking forward to getting home.

DS is driving to Boston to spend the weekend with friends so we're empty nesters for the weekend.

Sounds like a lovely trip MissC. I’m quite jealous - I could do with some sunshine. I just bought a couple of swimsuits so maybe I can justify a trip to Florida with DH next time he goes for work.

It’s cold and snowy here. I should be walking the dog but I’m lying in bed doomscrolling instead.

Silkierabbit · 25/02/2023 19:33

Your first cat sounds lovely Death

Glad trip went well MissC

We have DS home again for the weekend, he's not all that well and largely sleeping but lovely to have him here.

Floof now can have the 156g tuns of tuna applaws not the 70g kitten ones. He was stunned, esp as turned out later dd had already given him a kitten one. We are trying the tuna and prawn one on him which he seems very happy about but in shock. I just got 6 of those and 24 ones of his tuna in adult version.

Having homemade cottage pie for dinner and have also had some nice bread and butter from the bakers. Had breakfast today at Holiday Inn.

Lemonsandlemonade · 25/02/2023 20:17

Glad you had a good trip Miss C your photos look amazing.

Hope things continue to move in the right direction for your DS Silkie.

Been in Blackpool visiting my grandma who is 94 and doing very well still living independently.

DS after a rocky morning where he just ended a snooze has been a delight with her.

Took him to the aquarium today. He enjoyed I thought it was very poor.

Come and tell me your dull and unexciting news 24: Calmly through the day
MissConductUS · 26/02/2023 23:10

Lemons, what didn't you enjoy about the aquarium?

ZZ, are you getting more snow tomorrow night or Tuesday? We're supposed to get 3-5 inches, so our first proper snowfall this winter.

Silkie, that's lovely that you got DS for the weekend again. Are you feeding Floof canned tuna for humans or tuna-based cat food?

DS is on his way home from Boston, and we expect him shortly. He had dinner last night with MIL and other family members who live in the area, so MIL was very pleased to see him.
