Apologies that the prior thread filled up before I could create this one. Hopefully everyone will find it. Lurkers are of course welcome to unlurk.

Thank you all. Can’t quite believe he is here. Staff were open mouthed as well. Massive progress today.

congrats on new job Lemons.

IWanderedLonely · 18/02/2023 16:44

Fantastic Silkie so pleased for you.

HelenaJustina · 18/02/2023 18:18

So wonderful silkie make the most of every second. Some filming of what DS is like at home when he is happy/calm might be useful ammunition as well?

I am poolside at a swim gala (I think the word ‘meet’ is the American version) there are at least 10 clubs represented so it’s a big one. I’m warm and could easily nod off.

MissConductUS · 18/02/2023 19:15

That's fabulous news, Silkie. How did you finally get them to agree to let him go home? I agree, take videos.

Helena, you are correct. We have swim meets and crew meets. I don't recall any other sports doing anything similar. I took my kids to lots of crew meets when they were rowing in high school.

I'm doing some precooking for the week. DH and DS have gone grocery shopping. We're doing burgers on the grill and Mac & Cheese for dinner.

Great news Silkies!

Do record him in his familiar environment. Fingers crossed this long, sorry, unnecessary saga is drawing to a close.

Lemons hope your DM is comfortable while waiting for her tests.

Our snow is melting. I made lasagna last evening hoping it would last til Sunday evening but three of us demolished half of it. I haven't made lasagna for ages. Maybe a spinach quiche on Sunday as DS bought too much spinach. Plus spinach salad.

Silkierabbit · 18/02/2023 19:43

Yes hopefully its the beginning of the end. He's just on his way back with DD and DH, DD said I will go instead of you, she has been avoiding him since he entered hospital only go once so its good she goes.

Floof is now where did they all go. Didn't get any videos but all went fine. Eaten, drank, calm etc.

halfpasteleven · 18/02/2023 21:41

I'd a lump in my throat when I read your lovely news @Silkierabbit.

Well done- so pleased for you and here's to the next home visit for your lovely DS..

Lemonsandlemonade · 18/02/2023 21:56

Soooo glad it went well Silkie.

Currently lay on DS floor. Went in to check on him as he was unsettled for a bit. He was quite hot and his breathing sounded a bit not right. Have given him Calpol and breathing has settled down.

am camped out listening to him breath for a bit

halfpasteleven · 18/02/2023 21:59

Must be something in the air @Lemonsandlemonade as my DD was like this earlier., I'm hoping calpol does the trick and also preparing for what could be a long night.
Hope your DS feels better soon.

Lemonsandlemonade · 20/02/2023 08:26

Hope your DD ok @halfpasteleven DS is snotty but ok in himself at least he slept last night.

Off to a local shoe shop that’s unfortunately closing, hoping to get a bargain.

halfpasteleven · 20/02/2023 21:51

We had a tough night, but DD woke up back to her best on Sunday morning Lemons
How you got a new pair of shoes today..

Lemonsandlemonade · 20/02/2023 21:57

Glad she is better.

yes got one pair of summer shoes for him he loved them so much as he could put them on by himself ( well with a little help!). They were reduced from £28 to £8.

managed to get a tunic top and a dress too from another shop closing down. Both with pockets which I love. Two items cost less than the first one at full price so a bargain.

MissConductUS · 20/02/2023 22:59

Well done on the bargain hunting, Lemons. I'm glad your daughter is feeling better Halfpast.

It's a holiday here today, Washington's Birthday. My car went into the dealership for its regular service. They told us that the tyres need replacing, which is not surprising as the car has 36k miles on it. They couldn't get the Michelins DH wanted today because of the holiday so we'll have to carpool tomorrow and pick the car up Tuesday night. Tyres have gotten quite expensive, but the Michelins should last a good long time.

I am sick and tired of being isolated in my room (the one with windows at 3,60 m hight. (stamping foot and whining)

DD is still sick with a nasty but normal cold and cough, so stays in her room to protect me. We communicate via whatsapp. DH is working next door about 16 h per day (deadline) and DS is in his room reading and gaming.

And outside we are having stormy rain since last week.

I sorted my button box.

Silkierabbit · 21/02/2023 18:34

Sorry to hear that Prok Hope she is better soon and you can be back to normal soon.

Enjoy Florida MissC

Glad your DD is better Half and your DS is getting better Lemons

DS is home again on 2nd home visit. Can stay overnight, lots and lots of meetings atm. He appears to have uti from hospital they are getting antibiotics in via injection. He has eaten. Having pancakes tonight. Got chicken food and my preferred brand of Tamoxifen though now am getting bad shoulder pain which may be from it. Friday go to stay overnight at hotel and go swimming and take DS back home again on Saturday. We keep him until tomorrow am now. 10am meeting.

I filled Floof's water bowl with water from a glass. Floof thought this was very exciting and went immediately to test if this made the water taste different. He looked somewhat underwhelmed by the taste.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 21/02/2023 18:43

Silkie I soon got over my whining and of course there is a lot I can do: reading, crotcheting, family tree, netflix, duo (1082 streak, yay) and so on

This morning, not quite awake, I looked into the bathroom mirror and for a fleeting moment I saw Pierluigi Collina Collina English - not quite as scary because my eyes are brown 😀

Deathraystare · 21/02/2023 19:18

@Prokupatuscrakedatus

The bit about the button box made me smile as my mum had one. I guess my SIL or Niece has it now.

Looking forward to pancakes tonight. My flat mate had better not be in the kitchen when I come home!! It will be a packet job as I do not have the room to store flour that I would hardly ever use. I think you just add milk or water. Normally get the M&S one but having Sainsbury's tonight and yes it will be sugar (sweetener and lemon. The proper way!

A little too exciting perhaps but I heard today that there is a cat cafe in Westfield!

@Silkierabbit Sounds good re you DS and I have to laugh at Floof!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 21/02/2023 20:13

@Deathraystare I also sorted all zippers and tied a threatening note (for family) to my cloth scissors (? Stoffschere)

Silkie I hope you and DS can continue on this good(ish) path.

I have just found out that I am exempt from fasting, so I will fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday (if all goes well) only.

mathanxiety · 21/02/2023 20:18

Wishing everyone a very happy Paczki Day!
DS is between rotations at the moment so went out to get a slow leak in one of his tyres investigated, plus an oil change. The mechanics found a nail, took it out, and patched up the hole.

Then off he went to the same Polish bakery where he got a dozen delicious paczki last year, and stood in line again for the same half hour. I've now had two. They are utterly delicious, filled with the traditional plum, raspberry, and rose filling, glazed with a thin lemon glaze, and topped with a little chopped candied orange peel. Joe Biden picked the right week to go to Poland.

MeinKraft · 21/02/2023 20:20

I went to a different shop for my groceries today and my fridge is full of nice new foods that I can't wait to eat.

MissConductUS · 21/02/2023 20:45

Welcome, @MeinKraft , and thanks for sharing your shopping news. Was it an independent shop or part of a chain? Trader Joe's recently opened a store near me, and I go there once or twice a month. They have lovely biscuits.

Prok, do not fast while getting treatment.

The forecast for Orlando for Thursday is sunny, with a high of 32C. Jetblue is sending me emails reminding me of the flight, and I've booked car service to take me to the airport as Uber isn't that reliable where I live.

My car, complete with new tyres, is ready, so DH and I are off to pick it up shortly.

Lemonsandlemonade · 21/02/2023 21:09

Happy Pancake Day all. I enjoyed mine with lemon and golden syrup.

We had chicken wraps with guacamole, garlic aioli and coleslaw. A bit of a mismatch but DS loved it.

silkie so glad you have time with your DS.

Prok sorry you’re still isolating. I hope you can come out of your isolation soon.

I would say fabric scissors or ones with zig zag teeth pinking shears.

perhaps instead of fasting you could give up a food for the day or only drink water or something?

my legs ache tonight they have got like this achey since i was pregnant with DS.

MeinKraft · 21/02/2023 21:23

@MissConductUS thank you! I went to a newish independent shop in the next town over where they had some butchers meal deals and nice ready made meals. I got a big pot of chicken curry, some smoked crispy chicken and some meat to cook with. Then over to Asda for the rest of the stuff I needed like nappies and shampoo etc. Spotted this in Asda, they're rationing the broccoli Confused

Come and tell me your dull and unexciting news 24: Calmly through the day
Prokupatuscrakedatus · 21/02/2023 22:11

@Lemonsandlemonade
I've got both kinds of shears but only the not zik-zak shears are in danger 😀
@MissConductUS I am exempt from fasting, but 2 days of bread and potatoes I think I can manage.

Still only 4C here and wet.

Silkierabbit · 21/02/2023 22:18

Happy pancake day everyone. Had smoked salmon and cream, Floof appeared at that point 😻and just had Nutella one. Ds had 2 ham pancakes then Nutella pancake. Dd has cheese and egg and now Nutella and banana.
