I've started a new one. Please join us and share the boring and mundane things happening in your world. It will be calming for all.

Here is the link to the prior thread:

Apologies that the prior thread filled up before I could create this one. Hopefully everyone will find it. Lurkers are of course welcome to unlurk.

Miss Still 4 to go, which will take me to March.
I feel better than I did when I went to my doctor because of backpain and slight digestive problems.
Planning to repot my Monstera, she is on a 4 x4 Kallax. So I need help to get it down an up again.

Lemonsandlemonade · 28/01/2023 20:25

Thanks for the well wishes.

I survived dreaded Chinese meal with sister in law.

Helena that’s very productive!

Deathray I too hadn’t had Percy pig sweets until recently. I was a little underwhelmed.

sueelleker · 29/01/2023 09:49

Spent part of yesterday re-organising my herbs and spices! I've just bought a 3 tier metal spice rack from Amazon, that has space for 30 jars. It's nearly full-didn't realise I had so many different ones.

MissConductUS · 29/01/2023 19:53

Well done on the snowboots, Math. DD and I have the same shoe size, but she's not one to lose track of things.

Sue, I have a whole drawer full of spices. I'd love a spice rack, but there's no obvious place to hang it in my kitchen.

Lemons, was your DSIL visiting, and is the Chinese meal a tradition?

DS has returned safely from Boston, and he had breakfast with MIL yesterday. DH has filed our federal and New York taxes but still needs to do the same for DD and DS.

This is a 3 tier free-standing rack. www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07HR5Y8WL?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details

@Lemonsandlemonade

Yeah Percy Pigs are just strawberry flavoured yuck! I tried to buy my friend a Percy pig cake but could not get one so go that rainbow layer cake instead. Had a great time at my friend's flat and one of my friends gave me some earring as a belated birthday present. They are lovely and do not dig in when I sleep! We had a bit of mulled cider but most of the time behaved and had tea!

We watched my DVD" I know where the Crawdads sing". My friends were debating what Crawdads where. They thought they were birds but I knew it was another name for Crayfish. It was funny though, they were getting more and more annoyed because it was not obvious from the film what they were! They had to google in the end and found I was right!

This somehow lead to a discussion about when we got a (yes, singular) question right on a quiz. One was chuffed she got the £1million prize question right and I got a question right on the chase. Actually I do not do badly at all on the Chase or the thing that is on before that but came a cropper once in Who wants to be a Millionaire once on the £100 one. It was a saying that I had never heard of! Imagine your confidence plummenting because you dont know the first question!! I am crap at Sports questions but sometimes the right answer comes into my head!

Deathraystare · 30/01/2023 08:28

I do get frustrated by The Connect game though. When they have four lines of words that are supposed to 'Comnect'. There are always 4 bleeding obvious ones but unfortunately this time they don't go together!

MissConductUS · 30/01/2023 17:20

Sue, that is lovely. Unfortunately, I also lack counter space. I really need to reorganize all of the small appliances in the kitchen.

Deathray, Percy Pig isn't a thing (as far as I know) in the US, but we do have Crawdaddys. They figure prominently in the creole cuisine found in Lousiana.

This is turning into the winter of wildlife in our front yard. There were four deer in our front yard this morning at 7:00, grazing on the lawn.

Finally starting to feel a bit better and less lethargic. 😊
Chilly here; currently 0c and will drop a couple
more degrees overnight.
Havoc has taken to saying, No, then dropping unwanted food on the floor.
Made a simple soup for this chilly night's supper: chicken stock and roast chicken from last night's dinner, carrot, sweet corn kernels and macaroni.
Anyone trying to see the green comet? Supposed to be cloudy here, so unlikely to see it.
@MissConductUS thank you for the deer update. 😊

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 31/01/2023 11:49

I have been out and bought plant pots "one size up" for the first Monstera to be repotted and properly checked over.

Rainy and windy here, but above 0° , so not too bad.

Perhaps I'll try out the Vietnamese restaurant round the corner with my brother tomorrow, but he spent the last day worrying about his partner, whose father is in an artificial coma. So perhaps we don't.

Silkierabbit · 31/01/2023 14:11

Lovely 🦌 MissC quite magical to have those in your garden.

Hope you get to try the Vietnamese some time Prok sorry to hear about your DBs partners Dad.

Thanks Death and Iwandered

Hope you are feeling better now Cassia

In the middle of 3 meetings re DS today though all more of the same.

Stayed overnight at Holiday Inn, went swimming and to jacuzzi and saw DS twice. First time was laughing mainly about Floof stories, second time they had moved him into social area and he was very distressed there, banging his head, kicking the door, hands over ears. Friday he had a horrific day with staff, very distressed all day, Sat and Sun were better. We ordered him a Chinese takeaway on Saturday and he ate loads of it.

mathanxiety · 31/01/2023 19:30

In a way, seeing that DS is responding to different environments and situations is potentially a good thing, Silkies.

We are going through a very bitter cold spell here. The air is also very dry. It will warm all the way up to 2 below freezing tomorrow. Currently the wind chill makes it feel about 30 below freezing. I plugged in a space heater in the basement to prevent freezing of pipes, and have been watering all my plants more frequently than usual.

DD3 and I watched Wheel of Fortune yesterday evening. The final round contestant missed a really, really easy puzzle - 'Bingo Night' - and the only letters she was missing were the B and O. Then we watched The Bachelor. Sweetest Jesus come and squeeze us...

MissConductUS · 31/01/2023 21:22

Math, it's getting cold here too, with the bitter cold arriving on Saturday. I don't know why I feel surprised, it is winter, after all.

Silkie, do you have any insight into what triggers his bad days and good days?

DS took MIL (his grandmother) out for breakfast when he was in Boston over the week and saw her new flat. I thought that was a lovely thing to do.

HelenaJustina · 31/01/2023 21:32

That plant is super impressive Prok I am in no way green fingered at all, but I work with people who are, so we have some nice plants in the office.

Interesting day at work on the way tomorrow, we have 50% of classes in plus extra children. We may or may not have pickets to come past on the way through the door.

Lemonsandlemonade · 31/01/2023 22:49

Glad you’re feeling better Havoc.

Try and stay warm Math.

MissC the Chinese I mentioned was for FIL birthday and was a take away. My SIL is an acquired taste and I distance myself for self preservation reasons.

Miss C yes very nice of your DS to take his DGM out. I hope she enjoyed it.

Wow Prok lovely plant.

Silkie I am sorry re your DS but glad he enjoyed the take away. I hope for resolutions for you every day.

Helena my school is open all day. TAs have been told to cover classes. 😔

DS had a poop in his sleep. I had to wake him to change him he got very upset. He has pooped a lot past few days. I’ll keep an eye on him.

HildaTablet · 31/01/2023 23:03

That’s a very handsome plant, Prok.

Havoc, I think the green comet will be easiest to view from the UK at 4am tomorrow but somehow I have a feeling I won’t see it. Alas, I’ll have to wait another 50,000 years 😂

I went to have some physio today for a back problem (to add to my arm/shoulder problem, what joy), and she strapped me to a machine that stretched my spine very gently for half an hour. Not possible to feel anything much happening so it was a very mild session on the rack, but I felt weirdly taller when it was over!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 01/02/2023 02:33

We had a very light dusting of snow today. There was misty rain as well, so snow is practically gone now.
@HildaTablet when I used to go for physio for my back traction helped a lot. I loved it.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 01/02/2023 12:35

Hilda Physio after my foot op made me taller, too.

The Monstera is repotted - hard work as we left it too long

It is raining like anything here - the sort of rain that looks dry and you only notice it when you are soaked.

IWanderedLonely · 01/02/2023 19:44

DH was given a pretty little packet of miniature Christmas tree seeds for Christmas and in true middle-aged fashion we've been patiently watching the tray every day. We're now this far - I think they're amazing ( but I'm easily pleased 😌)

sproutsandparsnips · 01/02/2023 21:18

Love those cute little trees Iwandered.
Sorry to see you are still struggling silkie. Surely they will see sense soon.
Prok glad you are feeling better.
MissConduct are those deer wild? And the turkeys? That's so amazing! I love my 10 minutes in the morning with a cup of tea watching the birds after I've put mealworms out for them.

HelenaJustina · 01/02/2023 21:27

DC4 and I had to stop for 5 minutes on the way to work/school this morning while a herd of 30 deer crossed the road in front of us. They were leaving a field by jumping a fence, crossing the road and vanishing into woodland. It was amazing, silent and magical.

How lucky that you saw that!

HildaTablet · 01/02/2023 22:51

Watch out for those seeds, IWandered. I once gave a 'grow your own Christmas tree' kit as a joke stocking present to my Dad years ago. He planted the seeds and said tree is now approximately 30 feet tall in the back garden 🎄🫣

IWanderedLonely · 02/02/2023 18:27

Hilda 😱they're supposed to be miniatures, will think carefully about where to put them.

mathanxiety · 03/02/2023 02:14

MissC I think you are about to get our recent polar spell. I forgot to mention a sighting of hi viz during the frigid weather - worn over a full length fur coat by a crossing guard who also had on a fur hat and massive gloves, plus snowboots.

DD got another acceptance for a masters course. She's feeling very chuffed.
