Apologies that the prior thread filled up before I could create this one. Hopefully everyone will find it. Lurkers are of course welcome to unlurk.

Oh no havoc Hope your tailbone is better.

So frustrating Zz when your qualification isn’t recognised but good that you are studying!!

I did get the job. Am so happy 😀 as the school I will be going to is well run and just nice .

cassiatwenty · 26/01/2023 13:18

ZZ, glad it might help you a bit xx

cassiatwenty · 26/01/2023 13:19

Congratulations Lemons 😊 I'm happy for you

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 26/01/2023 13:39

Lemons many congratulations on the job. I'm having a quiet day. I'm feeling a bit down but a couple of quiet days should help. I've managed to do a few things which were preying on my mind. Silkie 💐 I have no idea how you keep going. What a dreadful situation for you all.

Congratulations on the job, Lemons.

ZZ, you have my admiration. I have no desire to study anything. Perhaps when I retire. Most community colleges are run on a shoestring, so I'm not surprised that they didn't have the staff to evaluate your transcript.

We had no accumulating snow yesterday. It did snow for a bit, but it melted on impact and then changed to rain. According to the TV weather person, we are now eight days away from breaking the record in NY for consecutive snowless days, which is 330.

DS went into the city for training for the first time in weeks. Apparently, he had the option to do it online or in person, and DH strongly encouraged him to go in and work with people face to face.

Sorry I haven’t had much to say on here for a while, but I’ve been keeping up with everyone's doings. Great news about the job, Lemons.

I had two Zoom meetings today, which felt very reminiscent of lockdown days. We also spent a lot of time waiting around for tradesmen to call round on promised visits. Neither of them did. It’s so frustrating.

Hope you're feeling OK, Prok, and hugs to you, Silkie.

halfpasteleven · 26/01/2023 21:51

Huge congratulations to you Lemons. A happy working environment is so important for everyone to reach their potential- I wish you all the luck in the world with it.

I've never been so tired as I was today- I'm hoping it's a January thing and that it passes quickly.

Silkierabbit · 27/01/2023 00:15

Congratulations Lemons that's brilliant.

Sorry tradesman didn't call Hilda

I think it is a January thing Half to be tired, I have been tired this month though did some hoovering today.

Thanks for all good wishes. Seems to be going backwards with DS. I think some of it is high staff turnover and new staff.

Hope you are better now Havoc.

Floof is very trilly and chatty.

mathanxiety · 27/01/2023 05:13

Silkies hopefully the lawyer has experience dealing with doctors who have painted themselves into a corner. They clearly don't know what they're doing and won't admit it. Your son has human and civil rights. Doctors are bound by the law.

Lemons well done!!

We have snow here - not much but it's nice after several weeks of cloudy, dreary cold weather. The snow is at least bright.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 27/01/2023 06:23

It's 5c and foggy. Arctic air is settling in. Temp is supposed to drop to -5c in a few days, but it might rain tonight. I'm going to go to bed and scroll AppleTV and see what I can find. I've been falling asleep to the Oprah Conversations, but I finally managed, just barely, to get through the Mariah Carey interview last night. I have a newfound appreciation for her. Difficult life. Horrid family. Didn't realize she writes her own music. I might read her autobiography. Havoc has been waking up in stretches 2hrs, 2hrs, 4hrs on average, hence me falling asleep watching a programme...

@Silkierabbit what kind of cat is Floof (besides, massive, fluffy, and chatty)?
I recently saw a cat story about a massive 2 year old cat that will keep growing til 5, I think. Maine Coon, if I remember correctly????

Lemonsandlemonade · 27/01/2023 07:16

I really hope the lawyers have an answer Silkie as clearly it’s the wrong place for your DS.

Sorry about your tradesmen Hilda. That’s very frustrating.

thanks for the job well wishes. I am pleased. Current head was rude about it.

Yes, Silkie told us he was a Maine Coon when she got him.

Silkierabbit · 27/01/2023 09:31

Thanks Maths and Lemons

Yes re cat he's a Maine Coon Havoc and a big one at that. He's on the maximum of the MC boy age chart size like his Dad. DH did say I could get a small girl cat but he was overruled though is now coverted to the worship of Floof completely. This chair side is about a meter long. He is with me now.

DH has just come and talking to Floof, hello my little kitten, it was nice when you slept with me last night. He is trilling and excited atm.

cassiatwenty · 27/01/2023 14:02

Prok, I hope you've been feeling okay, I've been thinking about you. You just rest and take as much time as you need, we'll still be here for you xxx

IWanderedLonely · 27/01/2023 16:44

Had a lovely week of grandson-minding. I cleaned out a couple of kitchen cupboards whilst he was asleep. I think the world could stop making mugs for 5 years and no-one would run short.

Lemons congratulations on the new job, well done.
Prok hope the treatment continues OK

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 27/01/2023 18:18

Not sure about the other US residents on here, but our weather next week is going to be coooooooooooold. Down to -18C at night.

How's it looking for y'all?

A sign that you made the right decision? It sounds like it... Well done on the job!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 28/01/2023 09:03

Hello, back from chemo feeling ok.

Silkie I keep all my fingers crossed (drücke alle Daumen) for your DS and for you all.

DD finally managed a foto of Mr. Morose.

MissConductUS · 28/01/2023 14:55

ZZ, it won't be that cold here. The artic front you'll be getting will stay north of us. It's going to be unusually warm here this weekend with highs around 10C today and tomorrow, then back to more seasonable temps next week. I don't envy you, it's bitter cold weather you're in for.

That's a great pigeon picture, Prok. How many more chemo sessions do you have before they pause them to reassess your case?

I cleaned the coffee maker with vinegar this morning and changed the filter in the Britta pitcher (and gave it a good cleaning), both tasks that were weeks overdue.

DS did drive up to Boston for the weekend. He texted us last night that he had arrived at the hotel. He'll visit friends from uni and probably pop in to visit my MIL while he's up there. He'll drive home tomorrow afternoon. The weather looks good, fortunately.

Congratulations on the job lemons what great news! DH is working today so I’m trying to get through the day’s chores solo. Laundry hung up, cooked lunch and cleared away, filled my car with fuel, got various DC to and from swim training, dance classes and football matches. I’ve also hoovered the whole house. Just need to prepare Children’s Liturgy for Mass tomorrow and maybe make a start on my next assignment. But it can wait until I’ve finished my cup of tea…. Hope Saturday going well for everyone else.

cassiatwenty · 28/01/2023 15:17

Prok, good to know thing went well and thanks for the pic even though you had more important things on your plate

Helena good job you have been very productive. You make cleaning sound fun. I hope that mass goes well tomorrow and that your batteries are recharged.

I can't really type much as it's that time of the month, so I'm just on my bed resting and reading and posting on MN, had so many plans for today but...probably just stay indoors

Keep posting all, when you can and like, very soothing xx

Deathraystare · 28/01/2023 15:41

Hi! Hope you are all having a good weekend!

@Silkierabbit

Floof is beautiful. I follow a lady from Southern US on you tube I think it is called 3 southern cats or something. They all 'talk'. She had a floofy Norwegian Forest Cat but he has a 'lion cut' I think because one of the other cats is asthmatic. Normally I would think these cuts look daft but he looks pretty with his fluffy face and lions tail!

@Lemonsandlemonade Congrats on the new job. Hope you have a new work mug!

Looking forward to tomorrow as after work am going to as friend's house to celebrate 3 birthdays. Mine (earlier January, another friend's and our host's.

I am hoping to get a Percy Pig cake as I found out she had never had the Percy Pig sweets before (a friend offered them at the theatre) so it will be just a joke thing. I could not get one at our local M&S so will go to Westfield tomorrow in hope... I will bring my copy of the Crawdads DVD so we can all watch it. We do enjoy our get togethers even if we don't get around to discussing the books we were supposed to do for book club!! I have been a good Girl and finished my book!

mathanxiety · 28/01/2023 18:04

ZZ we won't get above freezing here until the 8th of February, night or day. Currently snowing on and off. There isn't much on the ground but whatever there is isn't going to melt anytime soon.

I found a pair of nice snowboots I had bought ages ago for DD4, which had drifted behind some boxes on the floor of her closet. DD never liked them and they're mine now.
