I've started a new one. Please join us and share the boring and mundane things happening in your world. It will be calming for all.

Here is the link to the prior thread:

Apologies that the prior thread filled up before I could create this one. Hopefully everyone will find it. Lurkers are of course welcome to unlurk.

Well done Prock another lot done hugs gentle ones. Hi everyone hope your all ok keep warm it’s bitter.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 16/01/2023 17:24

DB was here, cooked and I had two helpings, which made several people happy.
DB's partener will be send on a 'Kur' (preventative medical spa) to prevent full blown diabetes, luckily not too far away.
I will get one too, if chemo is halfways successful, family insists that I don't say no

MissConductUS · 16/01/2023 19:45

Lady, that is a lot of dirty nappies. My DS loved trains and dinosaurs at the same age. He's 23 now. I just finished watching Shetland on Britbox, so I feel like I've seen a bit of Scotland. I live north of New York City in an area called The Hudson Highlands

Well done, Prok; you are really doing well with a challenging course of treatment. I hope the chemo continues to be tolerable.

I have some fab news. The rowing machine fits in the car that DD will take back to uni so we don't have to make the trip with her in our car. That saves us a 220 mile round trip.

IWanderedLonely · 16/01/2023 20:23

Hi Lady I cut my hours at work at Christmas from 24 to 7 so I can look after my youngest grandson (5 months) for 4 days a week. I have 7 grandchildren - life is hectic but full of fun.

Deathraystare · 16/01/2023 21:50

I shouldn't moan about my ailments that are nothing to some of you and what you are going through. I just wonder what pain is down to rheumatoid arthritis and what is the menopause (though I must be out the other side by now!!! Although it doesn't really matter what is what. I am only allowed paracetamol for the pain as have loads of other health problems so do not see the point of seeing a specialist a d whilst I can still walk I don't want to take any more pills!!!

In further news I went to a cafe for their veg soup and found a chunk of chicken in it. At first I assumed it was a big bean but it was too fibrous and then I realised it was chicken it was only one chunk sio they gave me a fresh bowl (was rather full afterwards! I had not eaten meat since I was 21. I am 63 now. You do the maths!

Second thing was Ì returned to launderette and it looked like both machines has finished. I opened one door and water had spilled out!! I am not sure what happened but the laundry guy got it going again. He was very sweet about it.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 16/01/2023 22:01

On the dull and unexciting front: I made a delicious salad for lunch which justified the mini chocolate cake I ate afterward. Havoc ate a good variety including avo, feta, tomatoes with evoo, a few bites of left-over bison burger, wild/brown rice, banana, and brioche with almond butter. I'm so proud of my little eater!

@Prokupatuscrakedatus so happy you had an appetite! After my mum's chemo all she could manage were the protein shakes I'd make her. It's a well-deserved victory for you.
🏅

@MissConductUS glad you'll be saved an extra trip! I used to train on the Concept II, so i know how important it must be for your DD.

@IWanderedLonely how nice you are able to help with your DGC's care. That will make for lovely family memories for them.

Looks like the rain has stopped, so I had better get Havoc out for play. I have a bag packed for the pool and am going to try to take Havoc outside of the weekly lesson. 🤞

Deathraystare · 16/01/2023 22:17

@Mumtobabyhavoc

It is good you have a healthy little eater!!!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 17/01/2023 01:43

@Deathraystare Yes, I'm pretty lucky! I decided to just offer what I eat (except sweets) and so far it's working. 🤞

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 17/01/2023 10:55

Thank you all for your welcome. MissConductUS you live in a lovely area. It reminds me of the Scottish Highlands. Iwanderedlonely I had retired early four years ago and moved house then dgs1 was born. I helped look after him when dd returned to work. Now I do the same with dgs2.
Today I dropped dgs1 off at nursery and played with dgs2. He's just gone down for a nap. I'm having a cuppa and tidying up a little until he wakes and wrecks my house again 😄

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 17/01/2023 11:55

@Mumtobabyhavoc
One of the side effects is, that on the second day I cannot swallow, having to take all medications with 'Apfelmus' (applesauce?) but this chemo cycle there was nothing.
The doctor reminded me that side effects are not obligatory. 😀

In other news: it is raining, I did a load of washing I need to hang and it will be pizza today oh, and I have a 1047 streak on Duolingo.

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 17/01/2023 12:19

Well done Pro! I lost my Duolingo streak before Christmas when I had covid and felt so unwell. I've had to start again. I hope the applesauce helps.

cassiatwenty · 17/01/2023 12:36

Hello all,

Thank you for the warm welcome -- I like this thread.

I'm currently in the process of applying for uni/trying to figure out UCAS.

Yesterday I've walked around 3 hours close to a river and a very interesting forest, then I went to the Church where I had a nice time and I got to know two older ladies a bit more, and then I went to get some advice with another girl from a person who's an adviser.

I came home to my mum, and I had pizza for dinner, and we watched Mad Men a bit. Then I went off to my room to read some poetry, and it started raining.
Mum woke up to the sound of thunder and asked what I was doing, and I notified that there was nothing to worry about and that it just started raining a bit.

You all come from such different places.

I'd love to visit the Scottish Highlands. Have any of you visited Bath? Just wondering how you liked it.

cassiatwenty · 17/01/2023 16:08

@LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand I hope you enjoy your cuppa, and I hope your house doesn't get wrecked 😛Trains, dinosaurs and Spiderman, it seems like you're a bit busy, lots of toys 🙂

@Silkierabbit I hope you enjoyed your English breakfast, it's always good to have a chat with a specialist who seems to understand you. Some are not great like that

@MissConductUS Thank you for having us. How are you enjoying Father Brown? It's good that you got help home and that DH was there. How does your DS's friend like his7hers uni experience?

cassiatwenty · 17/01/2023 16:09

@Always4Brenner That does sound nice 🙂 Nothing like having some giant fluffy pillows to keep you cosy as you watch TV, read a book or just relax.

Silkierabbit · 17/01/2023 16:17

Nice pics Cassia I love Bath, lovely place. For a few years we spent Christmas there each year and went to Bath and Longleat, Wookie Hole etc. I hope all goes well with UCAS applications. What are you planning on studying?

Yes I’ll buy loads I’ll look online first but in the shop much more fun.

HelenaJustina · 18/01/2023 06:45

Cassia I love Bath, one of my sisters studied there and it was a great excuse to visit the city.

In dull news, my car is bust, it still goes but very noisily. Am hoping it can be fixed on Saturday.

cassiatwenty · 18/01/2023 12:02

Helena, I'm sorry to hear about your car. Do they have a clue what went wrong with it? I hope it gets fixed on Sunday. How did your sister enjoy studying there?

@Always4Brenner I can't wait for you to get something nice for yourself, I'd love to see what you decided on xx

Silkie, thank you for your message. It sounds like you spent some nice holidays in the area. I'd like to study science but perhaps not realistic. Failing that, I'd like to read English, literature and poetry

Be a while yet I want to save a bit then I can really enjoy myself.

MissConductUS · 18/01/2023 15:16

Those are lovely pictures, @cassiatwenty. Father Brown is charming and I am thoroughly enjoying it. I grew up Catholic and never had a priest that nice. I am trying to figure out if the setting is pre or post WWII. My DS and his friend both graduated from uni last spring. My son enjoyed most of it. I think he had somewhat unrealistic expectations about how the university administration would behave, but it's done now, and he has a good job as a result of his degree. We love having him home, and he's saving lots of money.

Good luck with your car, Helena. Hopefully, it's something simple, like a broken belt.

DD is on the road back to uni, with her rowing machine. It's been lovely having her home for so long. I've gotten a save the date card from a cousin who is getting married in September. He lives near where DD goes to uni, so it will be easy for her to attend and not that long a trip for us. He's a very nice bloke and his fiance is lovely, so we're looking forward to it.

sueelleker · 18/01/2023 15:58

@MissConductUS I'll just warn you, if you decide to read the Father Brown short stories by G. K. Chesterton that it's based on, they're nothing like the tv series.

Lemonsandlemonade · 18/01/2023 22:39

To the poster who asked the 6 minuet diary is a combination of things but focuses on being a journal and tracking wellbeing.

Hope car not too expensive Helena.

Silkie/Prok Hope you’re both ok.

I have applied for another job this job doesn’t feel right even though I enjoy it and I don’t want to work for a headteacher who is weak/slightly strange.

I have an interview for a job next week which has a teaching element to it. I am not too hopeful as I am not so experienced with this particular role but I would really like the job.

My old work have contacted me a few times with accusing and nasty messages so I have totally ignored them. DH suggested I reply which I was going to but I don’t want to.

MissConductUS · 18/01/2023 22:49

Lemons, I think that's wise. As the old saying goes, never wrestle with a pig, you both get muddy and the pig enjoys it.

Sue, thanks for the tip on Fr Brown. I'm enjoying the show, so I'll pass on the books for now.

DD had an uneventful trip back to uni. She forgot to text us when she got there, so DH had to ring her to make sure she got there.

The temp looks to be dropping again here. Six degrees and windy when Havoc and I went out to play late this afternoon. I've got a lamb stew on the stove in my new enamel cast iron pot and and am feeling quite cheffy. 👩‍🍳
Havoc has had a bit of lamb chop with macaroni and butter. I'll offer some of the stew when it's ready and see how the little taste buds are developing. 😋

@Lemonsandlemonade why would your prev employer harass you like that? Bizarre.
Good decision to ignore.
