I've started a new one. Please join us and share the boring and mundane things happening in your world. It will be calming for all.

Apologies that the prior thread filled up before I could create this one. Hopefully everyone will find it. Lurkers are of course welcome to unlurk.

🌺 Prok

DM is doing ok

Mumtobabyhavoc · 11/01/2023 22:09

@Lemonsandlemonade good to hear. 😊

Silkierabbit · 11/01/2023 22:18

That's a cute cat Math I managed to reassure Floof it was just him and he didn't attack it this time.

Good luck with chemo Prok

Glad your Mum is getting better Lemons

I did duotrigordle.com today and only dropped one.

Pointless complaints meeting too.

Silkierabbit · 12/01/2023 00:28

Floof is waiting to catch TV cat.

Come and tell me your dull and unexciting news 24: Calmly through the day
cassiatwenty · 12/01/2023 14:05

@Silkierabbit Aw cute

Deathraystare · 12/01/2023 14:24

@Prokupatuscrakedatus

How are you feeling now? Our porter who is having chemo has to put stuff on his face and I suggested he put valentine on to as his face got very dry and looked quite scales in parts.

I know some posters on the style and beauty posts have had to use gentler stuff on their faces when having chemo.

I was also watching a you tube with Nic Chapman _ one half of Pixiwoo . They were make up artists in case you didn't know. She had had cancer and her hair is growing back. She has decided to keep it short. It has grown back very curly and she is not sure quite what to do with it! We are teasing the Porter that he will have black beetle brows soon!!

Well I am grateful that the phone system is now working! I wonder what will be next? One thing is for sure it eill be on the weekend when ohur bosses are not at work!!

HelenaJustina · 12/01/2023 16:56

I’ve felt quite flat this afternoon and slightly irritated by the world, looked at the calendar on my Health tracker on arriving home and have a possible/plausible explanation.

MissConductUS · 12/01/2023 20:35

Silkie, Floof is clearly getting ready to ambush something.

Helena, I hope it passes soon.

I have been hiding while doing employee evaluations for 2022. They make the deadline earlier every year.

I was quite disappointed that Honeysuckle Weeks got sentenced for drink driving and offered a lame excuse for it. I was also surprised that she's on UC. I thought that with her acting career, she'd be quite well off. She was so good in Foyle's War. Another illusion shattered.

Floof is continuing to try to talk if you say Hi Floof he says ah ah. Though sometimes he just does the mouth movement and no sound appears and he looks confuzzled. He's very purry, he is the only creature I know that loves to be woken up for a cuddle. He only seems to have happy mode.

We are having homemade French onion soup for dinner with the toast bread and cheese in it.

DS went to the main hospital yesterday and had bloods taken. He is normal on general bloods except for vitamin D which he is super low in (as he's been kept in a room since September and bloods were first time out since then) and so they will give him a monthly injection and possibly one will be enough. Awaiting auto immune bloods and they are also now arranging a brain MRI, not sure he will cooperate but our best chance. The psychiatrist called today and says she believes a return to home is the plan for next and about to be signed off but no date as yet and no idea what package they will insist on. Sticking points are meds as he is being force medicated and they still want to up dose and he also needs to come out with us. They have approved helping him walk out now which is what they have to do to get him out, managed it twice now. He is so distressed in there though, threw his birthday cake, dismantling fire alarms, threw his food, threw his ipad and broke it again, kicking his door, its the force meds but they have written its his baseline and what he's like at home, he's the most gentle creature at home and nicknamed Paddington Bear so no idea where they got that from. And not sure I like their improved version. Think he's trying to get kicked out.

Hope you are feeling OK after chemo. Prok

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 13/01/2023 17:28

Back home from hospital - less side effects this time.
If I could I'd take some fotos of the city at night, she looks beautiful, but I can't.

Silkierabbit · 13/01/2023 23:30

Glad you're home Prok, hope side effects continue to be mild.

Floof did his first sentence.

Dh made galette the French New Year cake again and had a Chinese.

Ds made it to Mcdonalds with staff.

HelenaJustina · 14/01/2023 09:26

That’s amazing silkie! You must be over the moon

MissConductUS · 14/01/2023 11:34

That's great news Silkie about DS being on a path to come home. I suspect you're right about them wanting him out. They probably want the bed back. What was Floof's sentence?

Prok, it's lovely that you're home and the side effects were less.

DD is spending the weekend with her boyfriend. They have a formal dinner and dance at his uni tonight, then they are off for two nights to a house on the New Jersey shore (it's about 2 hours away) with some other students. Monday is Martin Luther King day, so we have it off.

Silkierabbit · 14/01/2023 11:52

Thanks Helena and Miss Yes we were really pleased about DS though DH decided to go and see him yesterday night, I stayed home as I thought would be too much for DS as he already had been out. DH found him asleep woke him up and said its amazing you went to McDonalds and DS then started hitting him in face and kicking him. DS is normally really gentle. Not sure if he went when he had just been force medicated.

But now seems the barrier to him coming home is force meds, and a package being signed off. They are also doing a brain MRI.

Floof's first sentence was ah ah ah about 15 times together, looking at me like he was trying to tell me something and walking towards his food bowl then eating his cat nuts.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 14/01/2023 12:36

Fluff Congratulations!
Silkie I hope things are looking up for you and DS!

I have taken down the Christmas decorations a week to late.

Now I can see what housework is really neccessary in DH's eyes.
Food and laundry are important the rest is decorative.

mathanxiety · 14/01/2023 13:42

Silkies I really hope this is good news about DS' prospect of coming home.
Mr Floof's verbal progress is good to hear about.
My own Dcat communicates with a variety of sounds, including one that is a little like a cross between a bark and a growl. Her meow is very short and sweet but her purr is very loud.

Prok glad your side effects are manageable. I have reclaimed the sitting room from the Christmas decorations too. This year I got the tree out to the alley in time for the tree removal pickup. The decorations are still waiting in their boxes to be put in the closet in the dining room.

MissC I hope your DD will have a great time.

The laundry drain is completely backed up here, and after an unsuccessful rodding attempt yesterday the LL has told us she'll have to get a plumber in to dig up the concrete basement floor and investigate whether the old drainage pipes have collapsed. So I'm looking at yelp reviews and will be off to a laundromat today with a week's worth of clothes and towels and a big pile of quarters. Last time I had to use a laundromat I forgot to bring detergent, but this time I'm more organised. I suspect we'll be trying out local laundromats for a few weeks.

IWanderedLonely · 14/01/2023 18:33

Math that sounds like a nuisance. My washer wouldn't pump out water on Wednesday- further investigation produced a small metal thinking the filter. DH rather shamefacedlly claimed it (something to do with car batteries he said)
Silkies I hope they can sort out the obstacles quickly so you can have DS home.

Enjoy your long weekend Miss
I'm feeling a bit grumpy/bored/out of sorts; I think it's just January blues.

Lemonsandlemonade · 14/01/2023 18:53

Hope things are looking up for your DS Silkie.

Math - that sounds frustrating.

I wondered - Hope you feel better - January is an odd month.

Currently applying for a new job. I like the one I have but I can’t do it long term. Will have to tell the head on Monday that I’m applying for this one. This one is permanent and the current one isn’t.

Had nasty email from old work which I have junked and not replied to. I have blocked them too.

FIL is down to have an operation on his birthday in a couple of weeks time.

DM is as if she has given up and needs pushing a bit.

Have started a 6 min a day diary. Hope it will help with my mood a bit.

IWanderedLonely · 15/01/2023 09:03

Lemons I've been thinking about journalling, do you record what happened in the day or your feelings, or both? Thanks.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 16/01/2023 11:56

Weather is a bit sunnier but only 3°C.

Almost no siede effects this time and I can breathe better.

DB is coming over with the intention to cook, so I had to clean the kitchen. He is a carer with all sorts of qualifications, and his idea of clean is different from mine.😀

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 16/01/2023 13:03

Hi, can I join in? I've lurked on this lovely gentle thread for a while.

cassiatwenty · 16/01/2023 14:42

Can I join in, too? Like @LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand I've posted here a bit and then got shy.

Silkierabbit · 16/01/2023 14:58

Of course you are both welcome to post Cassia and LadyMacbeth, its a lovely supportive thread.

I am glad your chemo has not given side effects Prok and glad your DB is coming over.

Just back from staying overnight at Holiday Inn and seeing DS yesterday and today, got some laughs out of him mainly re Floof's silly activities. Had a quick chat with his psychiatrist who is lovely and also had a session with Maggies who were nice. They have given me yoga and Where Now after cancer classes. I went swimming and swam a mile again yesterday. Had English breakfast at hotel this morning.

Iwandered and Lemons Hope you both feel a better soon, January is a hard month with the weather, I find swimming helps a lot if you can motivate yourself to get there.

Math Hope plumber has got that sorted.

MissC Enjoy your day off.

Floof was super happy to see us back. And even happier to get his tuna.

MissConductUS · 16/01/2023 15:33

Welcome, @LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand and welcome again, @cassiatwenty. Of course you a very welcome. Pull up a seat and have a cuppa.

Lemons, I hope your mood improves. As Silkie said, winter is a hard time.

DS and I went to our favorite supermarket yesterday (Wegman's), and when we got home, DH had the bins out of the fridge and was washing them. He binned all of the old food, cleaned all of the glass shelves, the door bins and scrubbed the floor of the fridge. It looks like the day it was delivered. He said he's going to clear the freezer compartment today.

DS is off in a bit to see a friend from uni who lives about an hour away. They haven't seen each other since graduation. DD is due back at some point today. We need to see if her rowing machine will fit in the car she's taking back to uni. I'm hoping it does so that we don't have to follow her up there in our car with it.

I'm enjoying Britbox and currently watching Father Brown.

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 16/01/2023 15:55

Thank you for your warm welcome. I'm currently watching YouTube films of trains with dgs1 who is obsessed with trains, dinosaurs and Spiderman. He's nearly four. Dgs2 is working on a dirty nappy. That'll make number five today. I provide childcare for my DD and sil on a Monday and Tuesday and it's lovely if tiring. We have a slight covering of snow and freezing temperatures here in central Scotland.
