Apologies that the prior thread filled up before I could create this one. Hopefully everyone will find it. Lurkers are of course welcome to unlurk.

Thanks Lemons

Yes Floof will grow until 4 or 5, growth is slower from 9 months which is just as well as at 9 months he was 7kgs and 1 metre long, it's a lot of 🙀 cat. He's already 1 friend who looked after him kitchen table wide.

Our internet problems keep on coming and going. We've installed the new router and have our fingers crossed.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 04/01/2023 12:07

DS has been accepted, so his medication is secure. The new doctor is more active. DS did not like it, but perhaps he will get him out of his passivity.

Lemonsandlemonade · 04/01/2023 20:01

Gosh floof will be a big cat when all grown up. Hope you’re doing ok Silkie.

Hope your internet is sorted Math.

Prok glad you had luck with the doctor for your DS.

Made a chocolate caramel tart in the fridge ready for a meal with friends on Friday. Am doing roast lamb and trimmings. Followed by chocolate caramel tart or lemon meringue pie cream or ice cream.

Took DS to soft play. It was mental. He loved it and slept for two hours after it.

HelenaJustina · 04/01/2023 20:07

That sounds delicious lemons! How many people are you catering for?

MissConductUS · 04/01/2023 20:19

Silkie, that's par for the course with Maine Coons. It's a bit too much cat for me. 7 kg is quite big.

Math, who is your internet provider? We had terrible problems with Spectrum and switched to Verizon Fios two years ago, which has been fab and very reliable.

It's about 15c here and very foggy. It hardly feels like January, not that I'm complaining. We still haven't had any real snow yet this winter. DD is using her newly acquired vehicle to spend lots of time visiting her boyfriend. She had dinner with his family yesterday then had to drive home in the pea soup fog.

MissC it’s warm here too but very very wet and I’m Europe. Some Alps ski resorts have had to shut due to skiing.

Helena - for 4 adults and children. I am an over feeder though 😂.
That said I can’t get cornflour so may have to rethink that particular pudding.

Lemonsandlemonade · 04/01/2023 20:47

So DH did food shop. He was looking for cornflour misread my text and came home with a cauliflower 🙈😂😂😂

Look at him! He is gorgeous.

Silkierabbit · 04/01/2023 22:59

Thanks ZZ from Floof. We saw DS today and told him how big Floof was and said he grows until 5 so as he’s 1 metre now do you think we could have a 2 metre cat by then and he was giggling liking that idea. He was quite giggly with us today.

We are staying overnight and just been swimming 80 lengths but a 15 metre pool. May go again in the morning. Having breakfast here. They gave us free drinks as we stay here a lot.

Had a long chat well cry to the doctor about the force meds as I hate them holding him down and injecting him. What happened was low covert dose was making slow progress so increased dose. He must have then realised and after a week whilst we were away they discovered lots of food where he had taken out meds. So they confessed and started force meds. I asked them to stop and they said they can but May do electric shock therapy instead then gosh I hope not. Only good thing is she changed our leave allowance to 12 hours and can take him home in that. Will try tomorrow but they had taken all his clothes coat and shoes teddies blankets jigsaw etc Christmas presents everything so will have to hunt those down when I said the nurse said they were doing some washing. Just hope he will come out.

mathanxiety · 05/01/2023 04:49

Silkies if they are talking about ECT they need to have a 100% solid diagnosis of his condition and a completely assured expectation of the outcome of this treatment.

I've said this before, but you need a lawyer. There are firms which go to bat for patients in psychiatric hospitals.

mathanxiety · 05/01/2023 04:57

MissC it's AT&T.

They showed a local outage map on their site just before Christmas, and we knew friends and neighbours were also affected. The map disappeared right after Christmas but one friend had taken a screen shot.

The AT&T tech person denied all knowledge of a widespread outage and told us and our friend that it was our routers. Friend works in IT and explained why it wasn't our routers, and described the boundaries of the outage from the screen shot. Tech person insisted it was the routers and denied the map had shown a widespread outage.. Friend is a phlegmatic man of Scandinavian heritage but had steam coming out his ears after the conversation, according to his wife.

Anyway, we were sent a new one and installed it and sent back the old one today. If we have more problems they'll have to send someone to investigate.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 05/01/2023 07:32

Electric shock therapy? On a mute autistic person?? With what reason?

I agree get a layer. This sounds positively 19th century.

Lemonsandlemonade · 05/01/2023 10:07

Jesus Silkie please get a lawyer he is mute the doctors from what you have said can’t find anything wrong medically,

this whole situation is insane

Deathraystare · 05/01/2023 10:50

Never enough Cat!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 05/01/2023 12:12

I had a chil fit ( Schüttelfrost) last night plus 38,9 fever.
Dd phoned the station and now i am in, they are locking for a bed, because my day was tomorrow . Litres of blood habe been taken.

MissConductUS · 05/01/2023 16:23

Deathray, I would worry about the cost of feeding a cat that big. My two cats together don't weigh much more than 7kg.

Prok, the chill fit is a natural reaction to fever, nothing to worry about.

I saw a pair of ducks on the reservoir this morning for the first time in months. Please forgive the poor quality of the photo. They were some distance away.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 05/01/2023 16:30

I am not worrying about the chill fit, though it was my first, it is the cause of the fever they are looking for.

Dd will take a test and bring me the towel I forgot and chinese rice, yay!

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 05/01/2023 17:11

Hope you're OK Prok, keep us updated please.

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 05/01/2023 17:15

My mundane news today. It's trying to snow out there but it's really just unpleasant freezing rain, which is making me not want to walk the dog. He is not happy about this.

I've worked out how to put the Amazon Alexa shopping list right on the home screen of my phone.

I'm about to pay my taxes, do my invoicing, put in an insurance claim and file paperwork. Life is very very boring right now. Not really a bad thing...

IWanderedLonely · 05/01/2023 17:49

I've just eaten a bowl of muesli and 9 black Magic chocolates for my tea. I feel a little bit sick now. I'll never learn.

HelenaJustina · 05/01/2023 17:50

I’m sitting in a leisure centre waiting area while DC4 has a swim lesson. DC3 is at gymnastics and DC2 has swim training later… I need to fit a big food shop in as the cupboards are largely bare!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 05/01/2023 18:43

I've got a bed, lots of blood was taken, DD broght chinese noodles and a towel I had forgotten. I will get antibiotics.
My bedneighbour has the TV on ( headphones only) and I can see what clothes people wear nowadays

Silkierabbit · 05/01/2023 19:27

Hope you get better soon Prok sorry you are ill on chemo.

Thanks everyone re DS. We saw him yesterday and he laughed silently about 30 times but today he was very subdued and would not come out with us, seemed very overwhelmed. DH has just gone back to try again. Got notes through from hospital which show how distressed he is with the force meds has headbutted staff whilst they tried to hold him down, kicking doors and has taken apart a mat to remove the foam. They have taken everything out of his room including his teddies. I just hope they sign off report soon letting him come home and he will walk out with us as this just seems to get worse. But then we have to deal with the home 'care' plan, argh.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 06/01/2023 02:42

@IWanderedLonely sounds like a meal I'd have! Past three nights I've had a giant Greek salad, small bison burger with mozza melted on top and THEN...a handful choc chip from the baking cupboard.
@Prokupatuscrakedatus I'm sorry you are not well. 🌹
@Silkierabbit Floof is so aptly named. 💖

Boring/not so boring news: a major windstorm is moving up the coast here; has already pummelled California; and we are expecting 80-100km/h winds overnight. Ski hills proactively closed this afternoon.
