I've started a new one. Please join us and share the boring and mundane things happening in your world. It will be calming for all.

Here is the link to the prior thread:

Apologies that the prior thread filled up before I could create this one. Hopefully everyone will find it. Lurkers are of course welcome to unlurk.

That sounds wonderful Rhubarb and lovely pics.

Glad you had a nice meal and presents MissC

Merry Christmas everyone

Currently in Holiday Inn, had meal here after Christmas lunch at home with Dd and dh and Floof then saw Ds. Floof is loving Christmas turkey pigs in blankets and baubles are perfect and he’s been trilling away. I said merry Christmas Floof and he replied to me ah ah ah it was cute. DD was cheerful and got a present for Ds, dh and me. Dh got me a TV. DS was not good at all sitting in darkness and hiding in a den he built with 3 blankets and a tent in catatonia again not responding to anything. Not sure why was a new staff member but he was lovely. Will see him again tomorrow. Will go swimming here first and breakfast.

RhubarbFairy · 26/12/2022 09:21

@Mumtobabyhavoc It's mixed! I walked into the sauna at the same time as another costumed lady. There was just a single man in there. About my age (40), very good looking, and completely naked. I laid down on the opposite side and just closed my eyes.

Miss Yes, we're in Austria. Saw on the news about the avalanche here last night. We're about 200 miles east from it, so we knew nothing of it until around 10pm last night

I've just dropped the DC at ski school and am enjoying a cup of tea before I get myself booted up. It is an icy, glorious day here.

DS1 is potentially moving up a group today. That would put him two groups ahead of DS2. They both started as beginners last time we were here, so were in the same group then. However, DS1 is naturally athletic and tends to be excellent at any sport he turns his hand to. We had a dry ski slope pass for a year until June this year, and he spent his time there wisely, working on technique, and it's paid off. DS2 is a lazy sportsman and puts in the bare minimum of effort. He can swim perfectly well, but chooses to doggy paddle. He can ski and make turns, but chooses to snowplough (pizza) straight down.

I'm sorry to hear that DS wasn't good yesterday Silkie. Could there be a factor of overwhelm with both Christmas and a new staff member?

That looks glorious Rhubarb pre DC we spent an amazing two weeks in Austria one January. Slept much better last night, still streaming but it’s just a head-cold, went for a run this morning. I think this is my first cold since pre-Covid!

IWanderedLonely · 26/12/2022 09:40

Still in bed with a cup of tea. Going for a slow run with DH in a minute. Boxing Day is my 2nd favourite day of the year. Can legitimately be totally selfish and purely please myself all day.

Silkierabbit · 26/12/2022 17:51

Lovely scenery Rhubarb Yes I think DS may have been overwhelmed yesterday, he was asleep when we saw him at 10am as they let him game all night but looked better, had made an open den smiling and had opened his presents.

We went on to see seals on the beach at Horsey, lovely. Saw a silly seal fight where they were hissing at each other then one rolled over.

Gorgeous seal photos! I'd love to see them in real life. Glad DS was looking better.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 27/12/2022 02:25

@Silkierabbit I'm glad your son had a better day and that you got to see the seals!
@RhubarbFairy I think I'd be very uncomfortable in that scenario. 😳
@Prokupatuscrakedatus I hope you and your family are feeling better.
@Always4Brenner how's the reading going?

Made a hot chicken and lamb sandwich on croissant for lunch with a bit of apple-cranberry bread stuffing on the side and a few spoonfuls of chicken gravy overtop. I followed that with a 1/2 slice each of gingerbread and banana bread, butterscotch sauce and vanilla ice cream on top. I heated the cake and sauce, of course.

Lemonsandlemonade · 27/12/2022 08:17

Lovely photos Silkie glad your DS was doing better.

Had a lovely beef dinner yesterday at the in-laws house. Plan to take DS for a walk today.

Rejoice! We have found dd's car key.

She only bought the car in November and we noted at the time there was only one key, and must get another one. Naturally we didn't get round to it. Hmm. Bad move.

She's normally very careful, but could we find it? So my peaceful afternoon turned into taking her and dh to the station (going to watch a show in London) followed by searching for the keys. I was reaching the end of places sensible and non-sensible when I saw one of her drawers was open. I checked the pockets of the jacket she very rarely wears and there it was!

Must stop blaming dh now.🤣

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 27/12/2022 19:40

Margaret If you could now please go on to find our iso-mat? The DC were fooling around with it and I took it away to a safe place. That was 15 years ago and we haven't moved.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 27/12/2022 19:48

@MargaretThursday after you've found the iso-mat for @Prokupatuscrakedatus mind having a look for the two pairs of reading glasses I seem to have lost in the last three days? I've asked Havoc where mummy's glasses have been hidden, but at 15 months old Havoc isn't much help. I've crawled all over, literally, so I can be at Havoc's level to find them, but no luck so far. 🤷‍♀️

MargaretThursday · 27/12/2022 21:11

🤣

Can't always find things. Around 15 years ago I was being very organised and bought the next year's Christmas cards in the January sales. I was very proud of how organised I was.

Despite searching and even moving house in the middle, these cards have never appeared. 🤣

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 27/12/2022 21:35

So we all have to wait until the ironing board of another MN is found

mathanxiety · 27/12/2022 22:09

The wifi is back, yay!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 28/12/2022 00:52

I found one pair of my readers! Havoc is off the hook. The glasses were on my dresser and Havoc can't reach there yet. So, mummy misplaced these ones...but, where is the other pair?

RhubarbFairy · 28/12/2022 06:56

Congratulations on the found items all. Along that thread, I have misplaced my new hat and my neck buff. I wore the hat back from the restaurant on Christmas day, but have not seen it since. I suspect my buff is inside it. But where are they? We're in a 2 bedroom apartment with only the things we brought with us, there's not that many places it can hide.

Spent yesterday morning skiing and had a full body massage after lunch. My back ached all evening, but he was amazing and the pain I've had in my shoulder and neck for weeks has gone. All aches gone this morning.

Just me up so far this morning. I can hear the DC chatting in their bedroom but so far I'm enjoying a peaceful cup of tea and my morning fix of Wordle and MN. I got the Wordle in 4 today.

Lemonsandlemonade · 28/12/2022 08:37

Well done for all the found items my life is me constantly looking for something or other, the joys of dyspraxia I would say.

HelenaJustina · 28/12/2022 08:47

I haven’t lost anything yet today, but will be straight here for Havoc and Thursday’s great finding skills when I do. My DC may be losing the plot, we’re off on a lovely walk with friends this morning, but even the bribe of a pub at the end can’t overcome the forecast of light-moderate rain and fresh breeze.

RhubarbFairy · 28/12/2022 10:01

My face was cold on the couple of laps I did on the nursery run this morning, so I caved and bought a new buff. Of course this means my old one will turn up this afternoon.

Currently on a gondola to the peak.

Looks magical Rhubarb

We are now in Paris at MIL, she's 89 and first time I have seen her since 2019 and DH in Feb 2020. Probably going to see friends at a chateau tomorrow.

HelenaJustina · 28/12/2022 17:30

The walk was even wetter and windier than anticipated, fortunately everyone was suitably attired. We failed to find a pub with space for us all but a cafe did the job instead. Back home and baking with DC2 now.

MissConductUS · 28/12/2022 20:04

Well done on all of the found items.

We're all still a bit poorly. DH took DS to urgent care this morning to have his mouth sores looked at. He tested negative for strep and mono, so they put him on antibiotics and gave him a prescription mouthwash with a numbing agent to make things more comfortable.

In not so dull news, the car that DH ordered in late October has arrived at the dealership. We should be able to pick it up on Friday. DH took a load of paperwork to DMV (department of motor vehicles) to transfer ownership of his current car to DS. We also have to transfer the extended warranty we bought with the car.

DD is chuffed beyond all reason to have our oldest car as her own finally. She's doing extensive cleaning of it, not something that DS was keen on. I can't believe we now have four cars among us.

Silkie have a lovely time!

Hospital phoned and moved my chemo to the 6.1.
So - if all goes well - we will have lunch with DB and partner, I will have lunch with two collegues, and I can catch up on baking and buy belated christmas presents. Luckily christmas lasts until epiphany.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 29/12/2022 01:21

Well, mummy found her 2nd pair if readers way down a pocket of Havocs diaper bag. Silly mummy, to even entertain the thought that sweet angelic 🤢 Havoc could've carried them away. 🤦‍♀️🤣
I'm enjoying everyone's posts here : items lost/found; dog walks; skiing in Austria; visit in Paris...
Pro: hoping for the best for you jan 6 💖
miss: hoping you and yours feel better soon

Temp 6c here, rain has stopped today, sunset was gorgeous.

Lemonsandlemonade · 29/12/2022 05:27

Oh Silkie enjoy your trip and time away.

MissC sorry your family still poorly. Mouth sores are horrid, hope the mouthwash and antibiotics help your DS.

Exciting news re car. Yay.

Have booked a holiday for the summer. DH DS and DM are going to France. First time abroad since covid and sort of important trip for me. I always wanted to take my child and my parents to France. Unfortunately my DF passed before I could make that trip but am excited to show DS.
