I think Sunak tried prioritising internal party views over international views. The Net Zero Scrutiny Group are still very active within Conservative ranks.

DuncinToffee · 31/10/2022 09:24

Roger Gale(Tory MP) was "hugely depressed at what he saw at the Manston Immigration Centre... there are simply far too many people there.. & I'm not sure this hasn't been developed deliberately by the government.. as a decision was taken not to book more hotel space.."

BBC just read out part of a letter from Braverman explaining what happened. It was so long they ran out of time. Apparently it is going to go on the BBC site so I'm going to have a look at it.

Can't find it, don't know if that's me or if they haven't got it sorted yet.

L1ttledrummergirl · 31/10/2022 12:07

I've just had a little cry. I went to visit my relative today who has fallen down the conspiracy theory rabbit hole.
Today they were furious about the number of people being funneled across the channel to destroy the country. They think that it's part of some erg plan organised by Klaus Schwab which Sunak, Truss, Putin, Starmer, Blair plus others are all part of.
They kept saying we are at war.

Thanks to you guys, I was able to counter most of it, calm them down a little and (I hope) channel their anger towards the government where it should be.

When you hear someone you love, someone who was always caring and compassionate saying they don't care about the human element it's hard, and I am so angry at the fuckwits in government causing this anger and division to further their own ambition. They are feeding peoples fears and stoking hatred and I am sick of it.

Anyway. Thank you for giving me a place to vent.

Suella Braverman admits to sending official documents to her private email address on six occasions.

Parts of the document attached to tweet below

From Braverman's reply to the Home Affairs Committee, this puts to rest the notion that she fronted up about her error and volunteered the information proactively. It was only after the colleague who received the confidential document had reported her to the Chief Whip.

These 6 emails are from her time (3 weeks or so) as Home Secretary, who knows what she did as AG

The six emails:

  1. Papers & briefing on illegal/ legal migration
  1. Papers on protest activity & public disorder
  1. Media briefing
  1. Papers & briefing, topic not disclosed
  1. Submission on protest activity

Maria Caulfield is a disgrace on the politics show. Definitely on the wrong side of history.

She's nuts. We can't have buffer zones around abortion clinics because "someone trying to comfort someone (*a total stranger) might be accused of harassment and face 6 months in jail"

  • my thoughts.

And she's supposed to be a minister for women?

L1ttledrummergirl · 31/10/2022 12:44

Braverman will be in the commons today to answer questions this afternoon. I gather these will include her handling of the immigration centres as well as her emails. I'd love to know about the emails she hasn't disclosed, in my experience there are always more. They tend to show the least incriminating first to hope we go away.

DuncinToffee · 31/10/2022 12:49

As pointed out by various commentators

Interesting Braverman letter does not say she only did it six times

Instead it says that the review only identified six times, between two specific dates

How much money says she won’t show up?

DuncinToffee · 31/10/2022 13:13

She reads out her statement and runs? I don't think she fancies facing Yvette Cooper.

OP posts:
Blossomtoes · 31/10/2022 13:36

To be fair, I wouldn’t fancy facing Cooper either if I were her. That’s one tough, competent, shoot from the hip woman.

Piggywaspushed · 31/10/2022 14:13

Excuse my ignorance but that's the second time I have heard his name this week - who is Klaus Schwab? I know I could Google!

My DM used to work for Soros so he is a hate figure I do know!

Piggywaspushed · 31/10/2022 15:21

More fab stuff from the Party For Women

He is chair of the World Economic Forum, and the Great Reset apparently. The aim is we will own nothing once the Great Reset has done its work. This is what is behind the pandemic etc. according the conspiracy theorists.

Piggywaspushed · 31/10/2022 17:01

Oh, I see. Better get prepped then <hunts for the tin foil>.

ClaudineClare · 31/10/2022 17:01

That ahould read and part of the Great Reset.

You soon won't be able to own tin foil, you'll have to rent it. Or something.

Saucery · 31/10/2022 17:07

Oh dear. I’m a bugger for tin foil. Better start hoarding it.

L1ttledrummergirl · 31/10/2022 17:33

Quite.
I've been arguing conspiracy for years, but the tory shit storm is making it harder. It goes hand in hand with maga, the Clinton's being devil worshippers etc

Braverman seems to be passing off all sides of the house. She's using language to add fuel to the fire of those saying we are at war.
She's appalling and well out of her depth. She's full of shit.

L1ttledrummergirl · 31/10/2022 17:34

Stuart McDonald is talking sense.

Notonthestairs · 31/10/2022 17:37

Braverman tells HoC: "I have never ignored legal advice" this has been contradicted by two sources who tell me they think Home Sec did ignore advice & what happened at Manston likely to be subject to judicial review.

And yet Schapps got on with booking accommodation...

Apparently she also had staff ring the Law Society Gazette (as publications go it's really quite dry) to tell them to rewrite a piece she didn't appreciate. They didn't.

DuncinToffee · 31/10/2022 17:48

Fucking hell Shock

Never seen anything like this.

Braverman, asked by @YvetteCooperMP about her own multiple security breaches, claims "what is really going on here" is that this is a full-on conspiracy by opposition to prevent her from "stopping the invasion" and "scourge" of immigration. ~AA
